Melissa Joan Hart Gets Feisty

Melissa Joan Hart made the most of her recent appearance on Bonnie Hunt's talk show to take some shots at some people and some shows. Love it. Who knew she had the snark in her? Her first order of business was trashing Heather Mills who she referred to as a British chippy. She holds a grudge against her and DWTS for bumping her so they could have Heather Mills on their show.

But that's not all, because face it, I think everyone if given the opportunity would take a dig at Heather Mills. I am surprised though that DWTS has not offered her a slot since that season. It's not as if they are throwing out A listers on the show. In her second order of business, Melissa took a jab at just about everyone else by saying, "These kids are like franchises right now. They are not just acting and singing. As soon as you have a TV show or a hit song, all of a sudden, you have to have a clothing line, a fragrance, you've to got put out a country album - are you kidding me?"

A country album? Who could she possibly be referring to? Hmmmmm. Do we know anyone who had a tv show and a hit song, put out a clothing line and a fragrance and recorded a country album? Let me think about that for one second. Could Melissa possibly be taking a shot at Jessica Simpson? Love it.

I will say this though. Melissa is not exactly playing straight here though as she was one of the original franchises. I seem to recall she did her Clarissa show and then moved into Sabrina and was doing her best to make herself her own little franchise as well. I seem to recall that her family owns a good chunk of Sabrina so perhaps some of this stems from some kind of hidden envy that she didn't do the whole clothing and fragrance lines. Anyway though, it is nice to see someone go on a talk show and not just throw out a bunch of cliches.

  1. Up until recently, MJH had held on to a lot of her baby weight. I wonder if her slimming down was an attempt to get on the next round? Yesterday, I wouldn't have wanted her on the show, but today she's got my support.

  2. I loved Clarissa when I was growing up. Far superior to what's on Nickelodeon these days!

  3. Gammagirl... I agree. I sooo wanted her wardrobe and to shout ridiculous put-downs at her brother Ferguson. Now I watch Nick with my son and so not the same!!!

  5. Man, but did that show ever have the worst theme music. I forgot how obnoxious it was until a few years ago. How my mother put up with that, I'll never know.

I always wanted my male best friend to climb into my window by a ladder. Too bad our house was one story.

She's just being realistic. She was able to have a childhood/adolesence despite working through it. When you're in meetings and doing 40 different things, where's childhood. Oh yeah: skanky myspace photos, that's what happens.

  8. I dunno Jax, every picture I've seen of her since #1 was pretty dumpy. I guess I haven't paid that much attention. :)

  9. Someone sounds as if their mediocre acting skills, coupled with YEARS of pre and post-baby weight, just might be a tad bitter that there are no roles for her. I wouldn't tune in to DWTS to watch her any more than I'd tune in to watch her on anything post "Sabrina..." Is she serious????

  10. MJH and her people were just smart- it makes sense to get involved and hoild rights to the tv shows and films she was starring in. I bet she's not feeling the credit crunch now, needing some reality tv gig, thats for sure!

By franchise, she's referring to the Child Actor Career Plan (tm)model for any kid in the business, starting with acting-singing-clothing- frangrance- rehab (optional)

  11. Don't bring "weight" into this as her phat ass was her prime selling point once past puberty. Maybe not the best actress, sure but certainly a PAWG in an age of anorexic girls whom apparently all desire to resemble a pencil with a breast job.

  12. I agree with what dnfrommn said. Melissa is just commenting on the fact that the kid stars now have to do so much. She didn't have to do all that extra stuff, and yet IMO Clarissa/Sabrina both had the same relative amount of popularity back then that Miley has now.

I'm kind of surprised DWTS didn't invite her either as former A/B-list stars is pretty much the type they take and IMO the type that an average viewer would want to see on this type of show. I think if you took a poll of DWTS viewers way more of them would have picked MJH than Heather Mills. Hell, more of them would actually have KNOWN who MJH is than would know Mills.

Ditto with Kim K. I heard Kim only got on b/c her stepfather is friends with the director of the show. All so she could suck and be the third person voted off. I'd much rather MJH have taken her spot, and MJH probably would be a much better dancer.

  13. Melissa's mom dissed Ally Sheedy in an interview 5 years ago. She said her daughter is very conscious of her role as a teen idol, and would never play a drug addicted lesbian (referring to Ally's role in High Art, without mentioning Sheedy by name.) Yeah, as if Melissa has the tiniest microscopic fraction of Sheedy's talent anyway. And nice homophobia there too, Melissa would never play a lesbian? Fuck you bigoted cunt.
