#2 - Speaking of sight. Wow that was a good segue. This aging, but in no way old or even middle age Academy Award nominee/winner (you decide if he won) for best actor is actually legally blind. Can't read unless it is in HUGE TYPE. Has lots of problems doing action or anything other than staying very close to his mark because he cannot see more than a few feet. When you see him in public, he is always with someone. Always. Never by himself because he can't go anywhere by himself.
bob dylan? he played in movies! elvis costello? he wears glasses! david bowie? he played in movies but i don't know if he sings in club! bono? he always wears glasses and did cameo in indie movies!
Yeah, David Bowie came first to mind for me, but thats probably because I love him in the Prestige.
You could also make the argument for Bono, as he is mostly known for stuff besides singing these days and has done quite a few cameos (Across the Universe, etc)
you cant just throw out any old random rock star. first to come to mind for me was billy idol. he still performs in small clubs and has movie cameos. this is sad, but i did give a little chuckle at mooshki's pun.
"former" A list--someone probably not making too much music lately. Bono, Bowie, & Dylan will always be A-List. Meatloaf, Huey, & Billy are all good guesses.

Meatloaf does LOTS of cameo/acting appearances. Most recently he was in Fight Club. It's always interesting to see him as an actor, because he is quite good.
ooh i like deblg's guess for Phil Collins.. I don't think ive ever been to a club where they didnt play a collins hit at one point in the night... but meatloaf's a wicked guess too... sad no matter who it is...
It has to be Meatloaf especially with the recent hospital stay. Wasn't he described as looking high or drunk on the red carpet? That could have been his blood sugar all out of whack. When that happens to diabetics, people confuse it with being drunk. Sad stuff.
Meatloaf is very talented. He is one of those people that when you watch him act, you can't believe it is him. He's like Dwight Yoakum. Sometimes I can't recognize him either!

All have diabetes which, if it is Type I, can lead to blindness.
Jerry Garcia is quite dead, so he is most definitely blind also at this point, but Meatloaf would be a good fit, sorry to say.

ReplyDeleteIf you look at his acting history, Meatloaf has done roles, not really cameos. Cameos implies that the person is more-or-less playing themselves.
