One of my favorite authors. One of the most brilliant people ever.
In a statement released by his family, this is what they had to say about his contribution to the world.
"Through his books, Michael Crichton served as an inspiration to students of all ages, challenged scientists in many fields, and illuminated the mysteries of the world in a way we could all understand. He will be profoundly missed by those whose lives he touched, but he leaves behind the greatest gifts of a thirst for knowledge, the desire to understand, and the wisdom to use our minds to better our world."

He was an M.D. as well. A brilliant mind. He lost his life to cancer, which is a terrible death by inches. RIP and thanks for the inspiration Doc..

ReplyDeleteI'll never forget his stories about being in med school and getting the junkie to pull blood from the other patients for him because the sight of blood made him faint!

How sad. I'm glad news of his illness didn't leak out and he was allowed to live in peace during his final days.

ReplyDeleteHow sad! He was far too young to pass away. What a prolific guy, though. Wow. He left behind a sizeable, venerated body of work, which not a lot of authors can say.
