Today's Blind Items

What Academy Award winning actress/supporting actress recently cut open her husband's face when she threw her statue at him? It's a shocker.

  1. From Best actress winners starting in the 80's--this could be Sissy, Meryl, Frances, Julia, Nicole, Gwyneth, or Helen Mirren for those I am pretty sure are married.

Not sure about married are Emma, Marlee, Holly, Jessica and Helen Hunt.

Haven't looked up the Supporting winners yet...

  2. I read it as they won both supporting and best actress.

    The following won both:
    Ingrid Bergman
    Helen Hayes
    Jessica Lange
    Maggie Smith
    Meryl Streep

  3. i think its julia roberts.

    or jennifer connelly.

i wish it was catherine zeta jones though.

  4. I would be heartbroken but could it be Frances McDormand?

  5. ...And too many that I don't know the marital status of in the BSA group since 1980 and don't care to look them all up...

But, Jennifer Connolly popped right out for some reason. Looking alone, unhappy (typical) and very undernourished in recent pix.

I read she and her husband got into a huge fight at the event where she wore that hideous dress and shoes. But also that they loudly made up that night, too.

So who knows, they could be the tumultuous types.

  6. ENT is keeping it vague by saying this actress could have won either award.

And the incident is recent, it would exclude all the dead actresses listed above.

  8. Oooh, Norah--we're on the same wavelength here!

  9. if it's sopposed to be a shocker, then i suppose it's meryl streep. it's she supposed to be "thee actress" of the 21st century and god-like?

she's all new york city cool and collected.

  10. Cate Blanchett would never do such a thing thus she seems like a good choice.

  11. Is Jessica Lange married to Sam Sheppard?

    ReplyDelete
  12. I doubt it is Frances McDormand. Joel Coen could have retaliated by throwing four Oscars and finishing her with a Golden Palm.

  13. Nicole Kidman? Keith hasn't been photographed in weeks......and she's been getting some BAD press lately...

    ReplyDelete
  14. i'd fall down dead if it was streep. but her husband IS a sculptor. kind of delicious irony in her heaving a statue at him.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yeah, maybe Keith is hitting the bottle or the bag again and Nicole went off because she could lose contractual contact with Bella and Connor.

Part of her bad press lately includes getting the Aborigines in a snit by blowing a didgeridoo on TV.

  16. Is within 2 years considered recent? I'd love for it to be Reese Witherspoon.

  17. My first thought was Marissa Tomei, because wasn't it a complete shocker that she won? But is she married?

  18. Urban was with Kidman all over europe then he vanished. He hasn't been seen in Nashville either.

  19. Lol Angela! I can picture that.

  20. How about Gwynneth Paltrow?

    Fish Stick??

  22. I go with Catherine ZJ. . . Meryl would be the BIG shocker though.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Cate has both won and been nominated for supporting, and nominated for best actress. My money is on her...

    ReplyDelete
  24. could the use of the word "shocker" somehow be a reference to the movie for which she won?

    ReplyDelete
  25. oh, and one more thought: the fact that she was holding her statue made me think she had won it recently, like this year. Dunno why...

    ReplyDelete
  26. A shocker would be Meryl or Nicole. CZJ is fiery, and this is par for the course. Meryl Streep just would not do it. Helen Mirren would do it 3 times a day, but I didn't think she had a husband.

  27. Helen Mirren is married to Taylor Hackford.

  29. There aren't as many currently married winners as you might think--I'm not sure about a couple of them (Marion Cotilliard & Juliette Binoche), and I'm not sure if Tilda Swinton is married to the father of her children or not. I'm going to go totally left field & say either Jessica Lange (won both awards) or Mira Sorvino (supporting actress)--Sam Shepard just might deserve being clocked w/an Oscar (IIRC, he's not exactly been faithful over the years), and Mira's married to that rather younger fellow and has always seemed fairly sweet-tempered. (I'm taking the "shocker" reference to mean that it's not one of the usual suspects, which leaves CZJ out, and possibly Julia Roberts as well.)

  31. Melanie Griffiths - she won as Oscar for Working Girl and she's very passionate about Antonio.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Could be Kidman Keith hasn't been seen recently. Kidman's getting a load of bad press,Australia's tanking, and it's been shut out of all the award nominations. She's gotta be stressed, and she's known for being a bitch.

    ReplyDelete
  33. would it really be shocking for melanie griffith or czj to go bat shit crazy? i'm thinking no.

    helen mirren would be shocking.

    ReplyDelete
  34. i can picture Helen Mirren doing it. Cant picture Meryl though

    ReplyDelete
  35. Melanie Griffith scares the shit out of me. I was walking down some street in Manhattan one day about 1 in the afternoon with my sister and we saw Melanie and Antonio walk out of some bar/restaurant (Melanie was completely tanked), I told my sister to say "hey antonio I thought you were going to call me", but my sis chickened out cause we know Mel is crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  36. My money's on Gwyneth with this one.

    ReplyDelete
  37. How about something really from left field - Julie Andrews is married to Blake Edwards. Isn't she known for her sweetheart roles and being nicey nicey in person?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I agree with most people here about that word "shocker". ENT likes to do those double entendre things (like his blind item reveal about the irony of Independence day) and this "shocker" could either be a film reference or just plain old face value "shocker".

    ReplyDelete
  39. I may be reaching here but I'm thinking "shocker" could refer to Flatliners because defibrillator = electrical energy, which leads us to Ms. Roberts.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Probably Granny and Keith. She'd be really cheesed off at the moment.

  41. OK, this may be a stretch but...

Jessica Lange was nominated for "Frances" and won for "Tootsie" the same year. As Frances Farmer was, she is shown being subjected to electro-shock therapy (or whatever you call it).

    What do you guys think?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Not Jessica. She & Sam Shepard aren't married--they have been together since 1982 and have two children though...

    ReplyDelete
  43. Marisa, Hilary, Juliette, Tilda and Marion aren't married, either. Geena's husband is a plastic surgeon and Marlee Matlin's husband is a cop. Hmmmmm.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Just because I can't bear the thought of this being Cate Blanchett, I'm going to toss a couple of other ideas out there:

Rachel Weisz, who's married to Darren Aronofsky (that would be shocking!), and Geena Davis, because her doing that would be so out of left field, I think we'd all be shocked.

Just so MontanaMarriott is wrong with her Cate Blanchett guess!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Melanie Griffith did NOT win an oscar for Working Girl (though I think she may have been nominated) nor anything else.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Kathryn,

The Frances they are talking about is not Frances Farmer (who did not win an oscar and died a long time ago), it is Frances McDormand, who won for Fargo (1996).

    ReplyDelete
  47. I listed all the living married female oscar winners. The possibilities are:

    Helen Mirren
    Nicole Kidman
    Julia Roberts
    Gwyneth Paltrow
    Frances McDormand
    Emma Thompson
    Marlee Matlin
    Meryl Streep
    Sissy Spacek
    Barbra Streisand
    Julie Christie
    Julie Andrews
    Cate Blanchett
    Catherine Zeta-Jones
    Jennifer Connelly
    Marcia Gay Harden
    Mira Sorvino
    Mercedes Ruehl
    Geena Davis
    Olympia Dukakis
    Mary Steenburgen
    Vanessa Redgrave
    Lee Grant
    Patty Duke
    Rita Moreno
    Shirley Jones
    Eva Marie Saint
    Celeste Holm

    ReplyDelete
  48. My top guesses, in no order, are:
    Marcia Gay Harden
    Patty Duke
    Shirley Jones
    Meryl Streep
    Sissy Spacek
    Julie Andrews
    Cate Blanchett
    Emma Thompson

    ReplyDelete
  49. Marlee Matlin! She's the deaf Whitney, she'll cut you.

  50. I think 'it's a shocker' is a clue and I agree with Kathryn that Jessica Lange is very likely because of the ECT treatment in 'Frances'. I know she and Sam S aren't married, but Enty could have got muddled.

I wish it was Cate Blanchett, but I have to reluctantly concede this one.

    ReplyDelete
  51. IDK, for it to be a "shocker" I think it really needs to be someone very relevant today. Jessica Lange is not.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Some other boards are saying it is Julia Roberts too. She seems to be unhappy.

    ReplyDelete
  53. You guys left out Halle Berry completely. Wonder why?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Diane Lane/Josh Brolin
    Didn't she win something?
That would explain the sarcastic shocker part. They're at eachothers throats all the time, aren't they??

    ReplyDelete
  55. p2l, because she's not married?

    ReplyDelete
  56. I like Nicole Kidman or Gwyneth for this. Both of them seem so cold and humorless and rather passionless, if you will.

Julia Roberts is also good because she seems to have such a sweet image.

Cate Blanchette is generally too far out of the spotlight unless she is promoting something. If it were her, I don't think anyone would know about it.

Meryl Streep... I just don't buy it.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Diane Lane might have won something, but not an oscar.

    ReplyDelete
  58. "You guys left out Halle Berry completely. Wonder why?"

Because Halle isn't married. Please read the blind.
