Is American Idol Rigged?

I think I had the same exact question in a post last year. Every year someone says that American Idol is rigged and the judges and producers know who the final four will be and have it all planned out.

I think the reality is the judges and producers know who they would like in the final four and adjust the comments and editing to favor those contestants as much as possible, but if they were going to rig American Idol do you honestly think they would have let Taylor Hicks win? It isn't that they couldn't sign the other people who were better that year because they did, but the deal is they had to release a Taylor Hicks album which they knew would not make them any money. If Idol was rigged they would have never let that happen

So, when you read about some Idol staffer saying the fix is in, you have to realize they say that every year. There is always some story saying who the final four are going to be and I don't think they have ever been correct. It is fun to talk about an Idol conspiracy and there are certainly issues when it comes to counting votes and not having every vote counted, but I don't think there is any rigging going on. You just can't tell me there was any plus to the Idol bosses to have Taylor Hicks win. Any other person winning would have been better for them. You have to show me how him winning benefited them, and then maybe I will believe in the conspiracy theory.

  1. I don't think it's rigged any more than any other "reality" show...

  2. i don't think its 100% rigged otherwise they wouldn't be making up the rules as they went along this season to save Anoop etc.
it's all about recorv sales, not votes.

  5. While it's not 100% rigged, I think Idol producers are trying to prevent another Taylor Hicks-type contestant from ever winning again. They seem to favor contestants who are more marketable to a tween/teen demographic because they still buy music.

  6. I actually liked Taylor Hicks. The first song he did after winning the show "Do I Make You Proud" was pretty good I have to say. After that it was all downhill and pure garbage though.

This show can really be a mystery sometimes. You see someone singing terribly and they praise them like they were the greatest ever. Then you get someone who does sing great and they're blasted like they were the worst singers who ever lived.

Then the next week it's vice versa.

  8. Taylor Hicks was the winner to prove to all of the conspiracy theorists that they were wrong -- now its back to the fixed business as usual.

  9. I think that Taylor was a fixed win, just to prove to everyone that the show wasn't fixed. Because Taylor wasn't the "typical" win.

They fixed the show to prove that they aren't fixing the show, which is obvious that they are....

Give me America's Got Talent any day over this POS.

  10. To recreate Clay Aiken win. To have ppl feel sorry for the loser and over compensate trying to find info about them. It didn't work in McPhees case. Older ppl are the ones who they need to target for sympathy not teens.

  12. It has to be rigged since the best Vocal artist and most articulate, the famous smile like Elvis lost. Kris's father cried and the drama about singing coupon to mom as a gift was all drama played for the fanatic christians, who are fearful of looking and the way Adam dressed. Wait till he cuts a few famous albums, Kris will still be singing solo in bars somewhere for drunk crowds throwing bottles at him
