What exactly is Earth Day??
ReplyDeleteEarth day was started in 1970 by a US Senator utilizing the grassroot student movement to increase awareness and foster appreciation for the environment.
ReplyDeleteAt that time there were no governmental agencies overseeing the status of the environment. The EPA was created by Richard Nixon shortly after the first earth day. Subsequent legislation such as The Clean Water Act and the Endangered Species Act quickly followed.
Earth day has grown into a global event and has gained popularity with the increasing concern of climate change.
Take today to evaluate your ecological footprint and see what changes you can make to help the earth survive.
At risk of starting a firestorm, here's a different take on the environmental movement (from the viewpoint of those who haven't drunk the global warming koolaid):

i do believe in taking care of the planet because i live here and will do what i can; however, i am only on the global warming train 50%. methinks mama nature likes doing her own thing every so often.
ReplyDeleteGlobal warming and this idea that we are "killing" the planet is kinda the same idea as organized religion. If you believe in either and it turns out, at the end of it all, that there was no such thing what have you lost? Nothing.

Happy Earth Day err Earth. I love you and know that although you may change climate as you will we HUMANs are causing severe effects and if the ignorant people who commented would look at how if we embraced a green movement this would add jobs and increase better air to breathe in and help keep enviroments going for our animal friends instead of believing in a conspiracy theory or taking blame off their shoulders and saying its all 'natural' (which is a load of shit) if these people stopped saying all that crap, it would indeed be a beautiful Earth Day.
