Joe Jonas Is An Ass
I know by writing this post that my e-mail will probably be flooded by a bunch of 15 year old girls who will all think I am evil for calling their crush an ass, but I don't really care. That is why there is a delete button.
In an interview with Seventeen Magazine, Joe Jonas was asked about the song Taylor Swift wrote after their break up, and about the comments she made on Ellen about how he broke up with her in a 27 second phone call. Joe said, "It's flattering," he says. "It's always nice to hear their side of the story."
I'm sure his current girlfriend Camilla Belle was thrilled to hear his remarks, and that she can probably look forward to a similar experience at some point down the road. Of course since it appears their careers are going in opposite directions he might want to hold on for dear life and keep a paycheck close.
I understand he is a teenager, and this was a teenage relationship, but I'm also wondering if as he grows older if his attitude will mature or will it get even worse. I'm wondering maybe if it would have been a better idea to know what her side of the story was going to be when they broke up. You get the feeling from that sentence that he really didn't care at all about her and he probably doesn't care about anything else other than himself. Well, then he fits right in with Hollywood doesn't he?
And on a side note, look at the very bottom of the cover. It says that this summer 150,000 girls will get pregnant by accident. Seriously? Are they using the word girl to describe all females or will there really be 150,000 teenagers who accidentally get pregnant in the US in just a three month period? That seems very high. I'm probably naive, but doesn't it seem high to you?
i'm reading a statistic of a million a year with 520,000 births, 405,000 abortions and 80,000 miscarriages. so that figure isn't even the whole story.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately that number doesn't seem high at all. I sometimes feel like we get that many through the clinic I work at a month (highly exagerated of course).
ReplyDeleteNot to mention the focus on the girls "getting pregnant"--as if it were entirely their doing, no boy equally involved.
ReplyDeleteI only skimmed this one. I can't wait for these guys to go away. I'd be hard pressed to tell you which one is even Joe.
ReplyDeleteso he is not gay? I am confused.
ReplyDeleteI don't get it - I just don't get it. They make my ears bleed and they arn'e even cute. Thank God I am not a teenager now - give me David Cassidy, Andy Gibb and Sean Cassidy any day over these douchebags.
ReplyDeleteBTW Kelly McGillis coming out ... does that answer any blinds Enty?
Lutefisk, I'm betting the only kid here NOT gay is the one to the left.
ReplyDeleteLiberace is looking down at the one on the right, saying, "That hairstyle is too gay even for me".
I must be really out of touch because I cannot figure out why they are so popular and famous.
ReplyDeleteYou really need to see last night's episode of South Park that featured these 3...
ReplyDeleteTotally realistic number for teenagers, maybe even higher than that.
ReplyDeleteThat number doesn't seem high. I bet half of those pregnancies come from my old high school.
ReplyDeleteThat Kelly McGillis info is old news. I met a studio exec at my wife's college reunion in 1991, and the piece of gossip I remember was that a movie McGillis was shooting had to be delayed because she had broken her leg when her girlfriend threw her down some stairs. Old news.
ReplyDeleteI was fairly sure he's a flamer too, is that not right then?
ReplyDeleteThe stat looks massive initially but take in the amount of states, towns, cities etc and it then seems about right. Also don't like the idea that girls are getting themselves pregnant, wtf??
Why is Camilla Belle still considered an "it girl"? She has yet to do anything of quality that I am aware of.
ReplyDeleteAnd are we forgetting that this is a teenage boy?
From Wikipedia
ReplyDeletePersonal life
McGillis was born in Newport Beach, California, the daughter of Joan (née Snell), a homemaker, and Donald McGillis, a general practitioner of medicine.[3] She married Boyd Black in 1979, divorcing in 1981. She married Fred Tillman in 1989, and they had two daughters: Kelsey and Sonora. The couple divorced in 2002 and she is currently single. She and her daughter Sonora live in Mohnton, Pennsylvania.[4] [5] In April 2009, McGillis announced that she is a lesbian via an interview on the Internet show, "Girl Rock".
In 1982, McGillis was assaulted and raped in her home by the escaped rapist Leroy Johnson after McGillis came home from work.[8] This experience encouraged the actress to pursue her film role as the lawyer who supports Jodie Foster's character in The Accused. McGillis was originally approached for the role of the rape victim in that film. She turned it down, feeling it would be too close to her real life ordeal. The part eventually went to Jodie Foster, who won an Oscar for her performance.
McGillis had once owned Kelly's, a restaurant in Key West, Florida, that she and her ex-husband founded. Although the restaurant is still open, she says she is "no longer a part of that restaurant at all," since her second divorce, according to a 2006 TV interview on "Good Day Sacramento".
Well, Camilla was publicly 'spending time' with another guy a few weeks ago, and it didn't seem to affect their relationship at all, so yeah, I'd say they're together for publicity and/or bearding.
ReplyDeleteGirls may not get themselves pregnant, but they are certainly the ones dealing with the aftermath of abortion or delivering the baby to term, raising the child or placing the child for adoption. Teenaged boys do not, generally speaking, care so much about getting a girl knocked up, otherwise it wouldn't happen so much. While we can say it is just as much the boys responsibilities, it must be even more so the girls because it will be her who gets the "prize" of an unwanted pregnancy much more than him.
ReplyDeleteI have two sons whom I have adopted and their birth moms were the recipients of an unplanned pregnancy. Guess who had all of the burden. Yup...the moms. I plan to raise my boys to respect women much more than that and to take responsibility. That said, I can't even be sure they will listed to me when the hormones start raging in their teen years. (Makes sign of the cross.)
My daughter on the other hand, will be kept under lock and key until she is 21. Period. (LOL)
Oh...and for Joe Jonas, my kids LOVE them and they seem OK to me...just stupid kids, though. I don't blame him for saying what he said. Taylor Swift is an ass for telling the world how he broke up with her and writing a stupid song about it. Jeez, girl...you're what...16 years old??? Did you expect to get married to the guy? Move on....
Kitty, that was one of the best South Parks this season.
ReplyDeletethis dick was already spotted with a local fan girl where they were touring last week.
ReplyDeletejebus, its like The Monkees mated with each other and this was the result.
I had just read recently that Nick, who is 16, has juvenlie diabetes and has started a foundation. That sucks, but great he is living his life. Kudos to him.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes wish they'd rephrase these things and put SOME of the onus on the other half of the equation.
ReplyDelete"X number of Boys will impregnate 150,000 girls by accident."
I'd also be curious to see the ratio of impregnating boys to impregnated girls breaks down.
That would start some interesting discussions, I bet.
I think you're being too hard on Joe Jonas, most teen boys are bad at breaking up with girls. I also think you are reading too much into a single quote. If you actually read the magazine (my daughter is a subscriber) it is clear that the quote is in response to a question that never specifically mentions Taylor. He and Taylor are both teens, and both acted immaturely. But it is fairly clear that he handled the break up of his and Taylor's relationship much, much more maturely than Taylor. My understanding is that during her concerts she sings the song she wrote about him to a look-alike, and then throws a couch at him. Talk about immature and pitiful.
ReplyDeleteBut wasn't Taylor catty on Ellen?
ReplyDeleteThey ARE teenagers...
She throws a couch at him? Man, I wouldn't want to get on her bad side!
ReplyDeleteI wish the Jonas would just go away. Blech. And how would Taylor Swift's description of their breakup ever be flattering?
ReplyDeleteYes, she tosses a couch off the stage as the lookalike runs away. It makes you think Joe knew what he was doing when he decided to break up by phone...
ReplyDeleteHe's a teenager! Which means he has reached the emotional maturity of about 11.
ReplyDelete@moosh:
ReplyDeletethrowing a couch is still better that your neighbors calling you and telling you that (the asshole) your ex has packed up all his un-registered firearms and is heading to your parent's house to "talk to you".
now THAT'S a break-up!!
@ bunny--
ReplyDeletewow. I am speechless, which doesn't come often.
sorry Rob, you ain't finding any Jonas Bros fans here.
ReplyDeletewhat i woudln't give to throw a couch at my ex. if someone throws a couch at you, you prob deserve it IMO.
god that is soo random.

Yikes, Bunny! I just think there are a lot easier things to throw than a whole couch. :)
ReplyDeleteShe threw a couch at him...You know that's gonna leave a mark.
ReplyDeleteElsie.. Your Liberace remark was freaking priceless. LOVED IT! Thanks for the laugh.
As an after thought ...
ReplyDeleteDo the Jonas Bros. come with an airsick bag?
15 year old girls visit this site? Who are they? (apart from Ali Lohan between surf lessons)
ReplyDeleteYou know, they've been studying that there is a scientific basis for gaydar, read it somewhere, so if you have a feeling someone is gay, even if they're married and they supposedly banged a million chicks, they probably are gay
ReplyDeleteone day when all 3 of those brothers come out of the closet, it will all make sense, or either that day will never come and they'll live closeted their whole life like some people - Justin Timberlake, Tom Cruise, John Travolta, go down the list in Hollywood, it's a looooooooonnnnggg list
The national yearly average is 75 out of 1000 15-19 year old girls get pregnant every year. That's A LOT - in the Netherlands it's 8 out of 1000. Use a condom! Use a condom!
