The New Must Have Disease Is Claustrophobia
I don't know if Marilyn Manson is locking Evan Rachel Wood in a box or if he threatened to do the same to Woody Allen, but both Woody and Evan Rachel Wood lasted about 30 seconds on the red carpet when faced with possible questions by reporters. According to the NY Post, at the Tribeca premiere of Woody's latest movie, Evan Rachel Wood posed for photos which I posted earlier this week. However, as soon as a reporter asked her a question, she covered her face with her hands and left. Her publicist said Evan Rachel felt "overcrowded." Uh huh. I think she just wanted to get out of doing any press and felt that was the best way. Apparently it was a simple question, and wasn't something complicated like how long does it take Marilyn to put on his makeup everyday.
So, the reporters all tried to ask Woody questions. Umm. That didn't work out so well either as he bolted from the premiere and his rep said Woody was suffering from claustrophobia. I don't mean to judge, well, actually I do, but if you don't want to talk to press about the movie in which you are starring or directed, why should the public want to see it? If you are not proud of it, then why should any of us pay money to see it?
Granted, I wasn't going to see the movie in the first place, but for any potential viewers don't you think you would want to give them a reason to see it?
Larry David, who is also in the movie gamely stuck around all night. Well, I think we all knew Larry David was a good guy, and this just kind of confirms it.
Last I knew, claustrophobia was a fear of small spaces, not a fear of crowds.
ReplyDeleteI love Larry David. CYE>>nearly every show ever.
ReplyDeleteTheir is a phobia for crowds which I can't remember the word for it.
ReplyDeleteAnything with that perv Woody I will not see.
I have horrible claustrophobia and I get really panicky if people crowd me. I'd think that Mr. Allen would know how to handle that type of thing though after all these years.

ReplyDeleteclaustrophobia is no joke but yeah, there are ways of dealing with it. especially when you have to be working.
ReplyDeleteHe could at least get the phobia right - it's agoraphobia. :)
ReplyDeleteActually, I could see his phobia being triggered by her leaving - agoraphobia is about maintaining control, and her dumping all the attention on him unexpectedly could be overwhelming. Her excuse though is bs. She's never looked nervous about publicity before. Unless it was bad. That's not a phobia, that's narcissism.
ReplyDeleteWoody Allen has a thing for young girls. Evan Rachel Wood has a thing for old(er) men.
ReplyDeleteThey both leave the afterparty w/in minutes of each other.
Coincidence?
I don't understand how people who have long been in the business of wanting public attention -- as Woody Allen has for decades, and Evan Rachel Wood has for most of her life -- suddenly claim a fear of crowds.
ReplyDeleteI just realized that if Woody and Evan got married and he took her last name, he'd be Woody Wood.
Who is that man with ERW? Is it MM without makeup?
ReplyDeleteLisa, it's Larry David.
ReplyDeleteBut LOL. :)
ReplyDeleteWhether an actor or director does press for a movie doesn't influence whether or not I will see it. I don't subscribe to the idea that I won't "reward" people by seeing their film. Maybe it is because I am out of the whole LA lifestyle, but I see movies because they look interesting or fun. I don't give a crap about the real lives of the people that make them.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine I am the only one??
Thanks, Mooshki. I know it was a dorky question. Can you imagine if it HAD been MM? Hee!
ReplyDeleteFarmgirl, I agree, my interest in movies is mostly separate from my interest in celebs. I'm pretty good at separating the actors from their characters, unless it's someone really obnoxious, like Tom Cruise. I'm still pissed that he ruined War of the Worlds for me with his stupid couch-jumping.
ReplyDeleteLisa, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if MM does look like that under all his makeup. :)
I think lead actors need to do press for their movies. It's part of their job - generate interest. Does it influence me personally? No, not really. It may influence others - see someone out there enough, people may go. Paul Blart, Mall Cop.
ReplyDeleteSo if Larry's a good guy, I guess he isn't the soon-to-be ex-husband leaving dead animals on the soon-to-be ex-wifey's lawn?
Since Soon Yi, Woody has lost ALL credibility. No one cares what he does anymore.
