Billy Mays Didn't Die From Bumping His Head

Billy Mays was my favorite infomercial guy. I liked him because he kept me entertained and didn't throw out a whole bunch of fakery with his pitching. I contrast that to the woman who does that whole pizza pocket looking thing where she thinks the entire world wants every product to be cooked in the shape of a square or triangle. She annoys me. Not to say that I wouldn't eat all the food she puts in front of me because I would. I'm just saying that I always feel like she doesn't believe in her product and is doing it for a paycheck.

Billy on the other hand loved his products or at least made you feel like if you didn't buy his products you were a fool. So, of course I have a lifetime supply of Oxi-Clean and enough orange scented cleaner to make me feel like I live in an orange grove.

All weekend long people suspected Billy died like Natasha Richardson. Apparently Billy had a rough landing on a US Airways plane and bumped his head. He told people about it and so when he died people just assumed he had a concussion and didn't go to the hospital and died in his sleep. It turns out though the bump had nothing to do with it and instead a lot to do with the fact he had heart disease.

I wonder if they will still run all his infomercials. I guess they will have to. I won't mind and it won't creep me out. Plus even though he has died he is still going to do a lot better job selling than most other people.

  2. The oxi-clean commercial has run at least 3 times on CosmoTV in the past 21/2 hours, as per usual. It's not at all creeping me out... I'm sad about this, as I just watched him on Conan last week and he seemed really vibrant and funny (and LOUD). :)

    RIP Billy.

  4. I HAVE SEEN OXICLEAN COMMERCIALS SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE PAST 24 HOURS!!! I THINK THEY ARE A GOOD HOMAGE TO BILLY MAYS!!!! AND...IT GETS THE STAINS OUT!!!

Now when is the ShamWOW guy going to kick the bucket?

  7. Pookie - Billy Mays had a towel similar to the Shamwow, but wasn't the Shamwow guy. The Shamwow guy is that creepy Vince who beat up a prostitute a few weeks ago when she bit his tongue when he tried to kiss her.

While I didn't like that Billy May ALWAYS YELLED AT ME ON THE TELEVISION, I did see him as just a regular guy shilling some crap to make a living for his family. What a shame. RIP, Billy.

  8. I have to say this really saddened me when I heard the news. I watch pitchmen and he was LOUD, but real on that show. His partner on the other hand was a douche. But I really liked Billy. He really worked his way up in the infomercial business and he really tries not to sell "crap". RIP Billy Mays...

  11. Ohh so that explains the mugshot Conan showed of the ShamWOW guy. i wasn't sure what the story was there.
I hate the ShamWOW guy and everything he stands for. Fuck shamwow. I use sponges and make a fucking mess.

    And i loove it.

I was shocked to hear about Billy Mays. I really didn't care for his commercials kind of found them annoying.

  15. No sweat, Pookie - all those infomercials start to look alike after awhile! (Can't say that I've caught one at 4:00 a.m. for a LONG time, though - I'm entering the "let's eat dinner at 5:30 then hit the sack by 9:00" phase of my life! Getting old is a bitch!

  16. Billy Mays and Anthony Sullivan just began a reality series on the whole process of the commercials they make. I saw two episodes and it was really interesting. RIP, Billy. I feel worse about him than I do about MJ.

  17. I have to say it creeped me out a bit when I was watching an ESPN360 commercial while checking the news and see that he died. However, I think I could continue to watch his infomercials.

Everytime I spill wine on my white carpet, I will always think of Billy. Thanks Billy!

BTW....those pizza pocket things look so awesome! does anybody know if they actually work? Can I actually make an grilled sandwich from last's nights turkeyloaf? Or a chocolate cake out of leftover chocolate bars?

  19. What's this about a pizza pocket? Never heard of it. Too bad Billy Mays did advertise it.
I guess Billy was supposed to have a 3rd hip replacement surgery today.

  20. Will his epitaph read "BUT I'M NOT DONE YET!"

My son went apeshit (in a bad way) every time the Mighty Putty commercial came on. He would literally scream back at the tv.

  21. Shakey, my husband actually ordered the Mighty Putty......and I have to say, it works!

  22. I LOVED the show "Pitchmen", and I loved his infomercials. And I of course love "BILLY MAYS SAYS SHUT YOUR WHORE MOUTH!". That's one of my favorite memes of all time, so I'm really gonna miss Billy. He was such a diva, who remembers the Jupiter Jack commercial shoot on "Pitchmen"? Holding up traffic for hours because they didn't have a name...LOL! And that beard, oh what a magnificent beard! Goodbye Billy, goodbye Billy's beard, flights of angels sing you to your rest!

  23. Oh and if you haven't watched "Pitchmen", make sure you watch your first episode high. It's completely surreal!
