Ben Widdicombe Blind Items

Which NYC socialite and fashion plate didn't tell her son she left for a European vacation while he is at summer camp in New England and begging to be brought home? As camp rules forbid the lad sending e-mail, she has her assistant scan his letters home and send them to her BlackBerry as an attachment.

No wonder these kids end up being dysfunctional.

  2. Hmmm Muffie Potter Aston?
    Marie Chantal?

  3. Okay, I don't know why this is such a big deal. What difference does it make if he knows she is on her own vacation while he is at camp? There are plenty of non-socialite-eque parents out there who send their kids off for a camp experience and then do their own thing while the kid is gone. At least she is going through the trouble it seems, to read his correspondence. Besides, is he being tortured at summer camp and that is why he wants to come home? Or is he just homesick? I don't think this is a big deal, myself...

  5. Muffie Potter Aston only has twin girls.
However, Marie Chantal has four sons, two of which are old enough to be age-appropriate for summer-camp. Still, I would think they are so used to having nannies and traveling and so forth that summer camp wouldn't make them homesick. Also, even a socialite would still have two sons at the same camp, thereby reducing any homesickness. So I kind of doubt it's the Princess in this Blind Item.

  6. Sending your kid to camp and making them stay there isn't the worst thing you can do as a parent. Neither is going on vacation while the kid is at camp. Europe? Why not.
    In summary, who cares.

  7. This Discountess on the Real Housewives. She sends her kids to camp and boarding schools, and whatnot, and she is always going out when they are asking her to stay... I know too much about this. =/

  8. I sent my kid to camp and then went and had my own vacation.

He didn't cry to come home, but if he did, I'd make him stay.

It's not as if the camp called, saying her son was sick and to come and get him.

  10. I'd like to cast my vote for Bitsy.

Why even post these? The majority of us have NO interest in NYC Socialites. Personally, they're about as fascinating to me as those reality show douchetards. How could any of us guess this one?

Also, why is this woman being villified? So she's a busy lady on a vacation. So she doesn't want to take a cellphone with her. The kid isn't dying. He's HOMEsick.

Kid needs to cut the shit, quit whining, and go canoeing or something. It's CAMP. It's FUN. He's RICH. Shup up.

  12. I thought of Countess Delesseps immediately also, but I don't know...

  13. Joanne Wilson? She did a blog entry earlier this summer about her son begging to come home from camp.

  14. Anyone of the loser Miller girls qualifies for the parent of the year award. Actually, would you go on a Eurovacation and not tell your own child? Sorry, that is a bitch.

  15. Two of the Miller tramps are not with their husbands. That would be why she was not telling her child she was going to Europe. She might have to take him.

  16. I don't think the Countess qualifies as a fashion plate, but the miller sisters do in spades. I think I would call the camp and the kid and make sure he wasn't being tortured, but it's camp and usually you want to come home before i's time to leave. There are only so many mosquito bites you can endure and stay sane.

I like the socialite stuff, it's usually pretty funny stuff.

  17. Big whoop. I house sat for a couple who sent their two younger kids off to camp for the summer and then went off to Europe with the older ones.

Happens all the time, it's not only not blind item worthy, it's not newsworthy period.
