There Are Some Scary People In This World

I guess it stands to reason that with many billions of people on this planet there are a certain portion that are scary and not someone with whom you would like to sit down and discuss life or Harry Potter novels. Tom Felton, who plays Draco Malfoy in the Potter movies talked to GQ UK about his most frightening fan. You would think that his most frightening fan would be some teenage girl who follows him around all the time or someone who thinks they can cast a spell with some wand while they aim at him or something similar.

Nope. It turns out there was a man who wrote Tom a letter and wanted to know if he could adopt Tom and make him his son. The man enclosed with his letter a copy of a legal form that showed he had changed his own legal name to Lucius Malfoy to better prepare for when the adoption went through. Umm yeah.

I'm just trying to imagine this guy walking into a courtroom somewhere in the world and changing his name. I wonder if he wore a cape while he did it.

  3. There's a name in film school for this kind of too-serious attachment to movies or movie characters, don't think it's suspended animation...
Gyahh! I can't think of the terminology right now but it means GETTING INTO MOVIES TOO MUCH!

Dude needs to get a grip on reality!

If we children of the 70's think the Trekkies are/were into it, just wait 'til we see the Potter sh*t out there 20-30 years from now...

  5. Eeek!
I'm sorry for Tom Felton. Sometimes, boys who looked so cute when they were really young turn out to be really, um, ugly.
I also can't understand why so many young people already have so many lines on their forehead? No wonder that they start with botox at such an early age in that industry.

  8. That's the thing about being famous. Or semi-famous (because I had no idea who this ugly kid was). You're a motherfecking target.

There are ALWAYS some freaks out there who get obsessed and start stalking. Always. Some weather girl in Butte, Montana probably has a stalker or two.

I'd rather be good old obscure me.

  14. You can't get a restraining order for that. There has to be an imminent threat of bodily harm expressed by some sort of substantive action on the part of the person to be restrained. (For example, "my boyfriend said he'd kill me and went to buy a gun at the gun store.") Which crazy dude most certainly did not make. A petition for a RO wouldn't even be heard, let alone granted. No grounds. At least in the US, that is.

  15. A Pimp Named DaveR is right. Also, RO have a time limit attached to them in which they are valid. Now, a stalking order is different and totally do able in this situation. However, Tom would have to reach out and make it clear to this nutcase that he is to stop contacting him. And then, after TWO incidents of attempted contact, whether via mail, face to face, vicinity, what have you, then he could apply for a stalking order. At least, if he lived in Oregon, that is...

Of course, reaching out to tell the nutcase to not contact him anymore would probalby only add fuel to the fire. The whole reason one generally has to instigate a stalking order is that the person doing the stalking usually has major boundry issues in the first place, is not in touch with any semblance of reality and takes any contact from the victim, even 'do not contact me anymore' as how ever they want to manipulate it in their own little world. This kind of crazy tends to be completely unpredictable anyways, and lives by their own rules, which are totally valid and justifiable in their mind.

  16. @ vamp, thanks for the answer; I had no idea! I'm so grossed out that a guy would do that, and I have no words, lol. (*shakes head)

  18. This is really creepy, I can't believe there are people in the world who are that disturbed. This guy should really be locked up, unfortunately until he actually does something that causes harm, he can't be. Just frightening.

  19. Thank DaveR& M!
That is way too messed up. I mean the man is clearly a few puppies short of a pet store. I just have pictures of Rebecca Schaffer from MY SISTER SAM running thru my head. The poor kid doesn't need that kind of crazy.
