This was going to be the Four For Friday last week.
So, there is a very popular cable television show. One of the stars of that show is probably a B lister just based on longevity in the business, but in reality is probably a C lister. She was in a recent movie with this A list movie actress and they had a special relationship if you know what I mean. Special as in clothing optional special. Well, it was the first time for our C lister, but apparently not her last as she has now formed a special bond with one of her female B list co-stars on that cable television show. And when I say special bond, I mean a clothing optional kind of bond.

I wanted to say Roma Maffia of Nip/Tuck, but she hasn't been in any movies with an a/b lister.

ReplyDeleteMary-Louise Parker is in the as-yet-unreleased "Solitary Man" with Susan Sarandon.... but the only other notable female regular on "Weeds" is Elizabeth Perkins -- and I don't think she's a B-lister anymore (unfortunately).

ReplyDeleteEDB -- but what about Jeanne Tripplehorn? She's been around forever (she was in Basic Instinct -- does anyone else remember that?), and she was just in "Grey Gardens" with both Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange. Drew is definitely A-list (per Enty's typical definition)....

Debbie Mazar for B/C list number one, Jada for other B list actress, and A list actress Meg Ryan (?) all in The Women. Annette Bening, Bette Midler, Candice Bergen, Chloirs Leachman and Debra Messing were the other high profile actresses in this movie.

ReplyDeleteI'm gay, I see nothing wrong with this item. I can't see how it would drive anyone out of the closet. I can't see how it would drive anyone back into the closet. If anything, it goes to show that sexuality is more fluid and less predictable than we realize.
I too will go with Tripplehorn/Barrymore/Sevigny/Big Love. Isn't 100% straight Sevigny's relationship with her long term boyfriend Matt McAuley an on-again off-again thing? What was that breakup last November?
Jeanne is married, at least according to imdb. I would think that Enty would have added that to the mix. So I doubt it's her.

ReplyDeleteShe's also the most "could have been an A list" actress of recent times, having to turn down four weddings and a funeral (the Andie McDowell role) and Pulp Fiction (the Uma role) and Groundhog Day (Andie again) due to various family tragedies.
She also spent 2 weeks with Michael Douglas in Mexico getting "into character" prior to BI.
She is also the only actress the great Paul Verhoeven repeatedly refers to as "making him hard" during scenes - which given his back catalogue indicates considerable allure. As she shows throughout BI: those lips are astounding!
She's also been in Waterworld and The Firm, amongst various minor league credits - she used to be known as the new Anne Archer (but younger and, you know, not a member of COS).

@Frank, Quentin wrote Uma's role for Uma, no other actress was ever considered for that part, Uma is his muse and if you go through interviews from the Kill Bill period he's openly says so.
I've always heard that Tripplehorn is a consummate professional and that other cast members and directors adore her.

After reading about the first 2 actresses I was thinking Cheryl Hines as the first actress (although I would like to think of her as higher ranked, I'm not sure she is). But then I'm not sure who she would be hooking up with on Curb. So I guess she doesn't fit. But---she is in the pics today. Oh well.
