Apparently Crack Is Whack - Whitney Houston Spent 7 Months In Her Pajamas

Oprah was interviewed by Diane Sawyer about Oprah's interview with Whitney Houston. That is a whole lot of interviewing. The main gossip thing that came out of all this interviewing was that apparently Whitney lied when she said she wouldn't do crack and uttered her famous line, "I make too much money to smoke crack. Crack is whack."

It turns out she spent 7 months sitting in her pajamas with Bobby Brown doing nothing but taking drugs. She doesn't blame Bobby for getting hooked on drugs and she remembers the two of them would be sitting there taking the drugs and asking what they were doing.

Oprah says that Whitney did it because Whitney loved her husband and wanted to make herself fit into the marriage.

"The thing most shocking to me is that Whitney tried to make herself smaller to fit in a marriage so the man could be bigger. How many women have done that? I deeply felt for her. She was trying to be the good wife. She really, truly loved him."

I love how Oprah is making excuses for Whitney when Whitney didn't really make any for herself. I'm just glad that Whitney has moved on and is apparently clean.

  3. Easy to call someone an idiot when you haven't walked a mile in their shoes. I did the same thing for the same reasons. I finally got out and recovered but one thing I will now never do is criticize someone else when I don't know first hand what it was like in her world. No one would have ever guessed me to be someone who could be led into a world of drugs but I was. I loved my husband so much I would do whatever it took to please him. So I know how bad the decisions can be when you are in a toxic relationship. Good for her getting out.

  4. Yeah, drug addiction can't really be reasoned with in any way...I'm curious about this interview and I am totally going to watch it.

  5. I'm happy she's clean and wish her the best. I've heard that she's lost some of her vocal range and that's just a shame.

  6. Ugh, I just so don't care whether Whitney Houston makes a comeback or not. I hope she stays clean, tho.

  7. I hope Whitney stays clean and that she has the right people around her to offer support.

I have to say that the part of this article that bothers me is Oprah spouting her 'I think that I am a trained psychologist/psychiatrist/marriage counselor' bullshit as to why Whitney took drugs!

Gah, STFU and stop trying to psychoanalyze Whitney and instead talk about all of the positive things that are happening in her life right now on her journey towards sobriety.

  8. Whitney wasn't doing drugs to keep her husband happy. She was DEEP into drugs long before Bobby Brown came along. Ask anyone in NJ. Being with Bobby Brown only escalated her drug use. I am glad she is clean now and I hope she can stay that way. Addiction is hard.

  9. Oprah makes me want to barf!! Whitney tried to make herself smaller to make him bigger & be a good wife. Oh please! Wasn't she caught doing drugs when she was a model?

  10. I didn't do the drug bit, but I did the 'it's all for him' bit. Twice. Ruined both of the marriages and never again, I learned that I have to have an equal role.

  12. While Whitney was "trying to be the good wife" she forgot about trying to be a good mother. She chose drugs and a man over the welfare of her daughter.

  13. Way to enable an addict Oprah, one of the many reasons why I don't pay attention to Oprah anymore. She had a child! Her daughter was the one who suffered with two addicts sitting around getting high -that was the period when a 12 year old girl was posting nearly nude photos of herself on Myspace. Nobody was raising that child.

You don't ever fit yourself to a man, if he can't keep up, you cut him loose an take care of your child first. If you have to change to be an addict to keep a man you are lower than low.

If this is how Oprah feels she's still got self esteem issues and needs to retire, she's helping no one. I won't be buying what Whitney's selling, or the cd either.

  14. I cringe when I hear women make statements like that. Passing the buck and all that... Yet, I did the same thing. Moved away from my family and home to be with his people, and they were all meth addicts. And I did it too, trying to fit myself into their mold, for two years, and nearly lost my daughter. I know what it's like to try to be sober and move on, pulling the ripped shreds of your life back around you like a tattered blanket. Glad she's clean.
