Bye Bye 90210 And Melrose Place

The season premiere of 90210 and Melrose Place were last night. You probably didn't notice, because no one actually noticed. The numbers were horrendous for the two shows. 90210 was down 50% from last year's premiere and Melrose had even lower numbers than 90210. So, it didn't surprise me at all when I got a phone call this morning and on the other end was someone telling me that Melrose is going to have a tough time getting a full season order. Right now they have a 13 episode commitment and were shooting episode 8 yesterday. If the numbers don't improve they might not even get to air all 13 episodes, and 90210 isn't long for the world either.

Last night America's Got Talent was a repeat for an hour and it still had 6 times the number of viewers as 90210 or Melrose. I guess they should have just left a good thing alone.

  1. Tristian Wilds - you deserve much better than 90210. I mean, you go from The Wire that caca? Sad.

  2. Regarding Tristan Wilds...I am a huge Wire fan and even though I know that a job is job...thinking of him on 90210 still makes me weep.

  3. Does this change anyone's mind about the most popular guess for yesterday's blind? It seems that Melrose is not a sure fire hit.

  4. So Ashlee on Melrose can't be the answer to the blind right?

  9. I never watched either show their first times around.

Sorry for the crew's lost, work, though. always sad seeing *real* jobs go away.

  11. Maybe the bad numbers were a big surprise, and MP was expected to be a certain hit? I so wanted the blind to be Asslee, too.

Oh well, I'll have to go with DNfromMN's Eastwick guess, then. Or FlashForward.

  14. I never liked the new 90210.

I was going to give the new Melrose Place a shot until they killed the Sydney character after 1 scene! She's the main reason I wanted to see it!

  15. Is Vampire Diaries a surefire hit? Otherwise, the blind may have referred to Flashforward.

  16. The only part i saw were those ads where Asslee and some other woman walk up to each other, look at each other and go the other direction. Not a word is spoken, yet the acting was f****ing horrible.

  17. Do I need to hang my head in shame if I have never watched either of these show?

  18. Could yesterday's blind have been about Christine Baranski and Julianna Margulies on the new show called The Good Wife?

Not sure about the celebrity husband part.

  19. Wait wait - who was Tristan in The Wire? Was he one of the younger runners?

  20. "Bye Bye 90210 And Melrose Place"

    oh, thank god.

i caught the last 15 min. of MP...what a load of crap. the first thing that came to mind was that whomever the person was that thought a remake was a good idea is probably about to get fired.

  22. The ratings for 90210 were higher than their season finale-in fact it was their highest ratings since January 2009. I wouldn't exactly jump on it and say it won't last long. It's rather ridiculous to compare ratings for the 25th episode (season premiere) of a show to the 1st (SERIES premiere). A rather logical comparison would be the preceding season finale to the following season premiere.

If anything, the CW should be ecstatic for seeing growth. Time will tell next week if it drops off considerably or maintains viewers.

  23. Hmmm, I wonder if that's why the sudden 'Ashlee kicked Pete out over his cheating ways' rumors started. PR machine?

  24. I dunno, I still think yesterday's blind was about Melrose and Asslee... just wrong on the surefire hit part.

  25. jax,

she hit some John Doe. But if you noticed, the new guy was probably the one was offered help after the incident. He has the same car.

About the item, Enty found out he wasn't a hit this morning. So I think it still can be Asslee.

And as far as I know, before one show airs, it's kinda complicated to know if one show will be surely a hit. I thought V could be a hit, but i dunno.

  26. Hi. I saw the season premiere of 90210 and melrose place, and I was expecting 90210 to start with a bang. To have some really good story lines. Instead, they completely changed the character of annie and have made naomi even worse. I am not watching that show again. They could've made it work, but they chose to make it awful. As for melrose place, I'd never seen the original melrose, but I was expecting something really good and entertaining to watch; instead, it was terrible! I thought this is unwatchable! Ugh, it so sucks! I also watched the new show, shark tank, not good either. I wish the dinosaurs and blood suckers would find something really good and entertaining to put on the tv. Thank you for listening to my rant. Have a good day.
