Hugh Jackman Not Hosting The Oscars This Year

If you were counting down the days until March 7th so you could watch Hugh Jackman host them again, you are out of luck. The rumor where he was planning on hosting them in a black ties and Speedo just isn't true and in fact he isn't going to host them at all. It seems that Hugh is open to at some point hosting them in the future but doesn't want to be known as a permanent Oscar host and feels like hosting it two consecutive years would do just that.

So, does Oscar go and do something traditional like get Ellen or Jon Stewart or are they going to sacrifice every bit of high ground and go for some kind of Twilight or Miley Cyrus or Jonas Brothers audience grab? Oh, maybe Jon and Hailey could do it?

I am throwing my vote in for Craig Ferguson.

  1. I'd enjoy Craig Ferguson. But not as much as I'd enjoy Daniel Craig.

  2. Wise decision for Hugh. Now, instead of everyone saying, Hugh again, " they'll be saying, "It was better last year with Hugh Jackman."

I love Craig, but he would be selling out if he did this. He wouldn't be able to be himself. I don't want Craig with an edit.

  3. the oscars are so overrated. find someone else who's new but appropiate to host.

  4. Craig Fergerson would be fun but warmislandsun might be right. I don't want Craig with an Edit.

Maybe something completely off the wall. Talented, but humorous. HMMMM, let me see......crap my mind's a blank and none of the hot things I'm thinking of would work. Sigh...

  6. I think we should all give thanks to Enty for that completely delicious photo of Mr. Jackman. Who cares if he hosts, as long as I can pics of him like that. Holy god.

  7. Weren't there rumors last year that Ricky Gervais would do it this year after some shtick he did in the audience? Or was that the Emmy's?

It's a shame, he did a great job. But probably a good move for him career-wise.

The man does have a good body, doesn't he? *drool*

  9. Why not Neil P H?

I think it's a wise decision by Hugh, too. Leave on a high note (remember that Seinfeld episode?)
"Thanks! I'm outta here! Enjoy the buffet!"

  11. I love Craig Ferguson!! However, he busts on award shows big time. I doubt they'd ask him. If he did it and was allowed to be himself, it would be the best and funniest Oscars EVER. There wouldn't be a single A-lister left in the place by the end, but those of us at home would be highly entertained.

Ricky Gervais is probably a nice compromise, still very funny but just respectful enough of the industry to hold himself a little bit in check. I honestly don't think Craig Ferguson has any fear of burning bridges. Would make great tv if the powers that be would let Craig be Craig.

  12. I'm good with Craig Ferguson or NPH--who I'd love to see become a permanent host of anything.

  14. Say it ain't so Enty. Say it ain't so. When Hugh hosted the Oscars it was like Karma gave me an early birthday present (mine is 3/14).

I'd be OK with Craig Ferguson doing them. If they let Craig be Craig.

  15. I agree, love Craig, funniest man on television, but I'm not sure he would be good enough for the A-List, Ricky or NPH would be amazing choices, but they should totally have Craig come and present an award or something. That would be epic. Or, even more epic, have all 3 of them host it?
