Ft. Hood Shootings
Like many of you probably are, I am watching the coverage of the shootings in Ft. Hood, Texas. At least seven people have been killed and 20 others wounded and some reports have said that some of the suspects are still on the loose. The video below is live coverage from a Killeen television station. My thoughts go out to those who have been killed and injured and to all of their families.

ReplyDeleteKilleen is where the shootings at a Luby's restaurant took place in the 1990's. About 30 innocent people died, if I remember correctly.

ReplyDeleteThe 12 shot dead were all soldiers--my heart goes out to their families. This is so awful.
ReplyDeleteI feel sometimes like these times are an unofficial civil war in America. It's so sad, so many senseless deaths.
ReplyDeleteLutefisk, the general said one of them was a civilian police officer. So a whole other set of families who have to panic until they hear from their loved ones.

ReplyDeletei'm pretty sure he said the shooter and 2 other suspects were all soldiers and the police officer was a casualty.

Ex-army wife here. My fear was always that something would happen when he was overseas...never would have thought in a million years that the danger might be the soldier standing next to him. My heart aches for the families of those fallen heroes.

ReplyDeleteWho ever would have thought that a soldier could do that to scores of innocent people on his own base? I hope the army starts implementing more rigorous psychological screening processes.

@Jewels--what is wrong with people is violence in the name of RELIGION.
ReplyDeleteI know what I might get for saying this, but I also feel so bad for the shooter and his family. Mental health needs to be more rigorously screened--especially in the military. Lots of guys come back (I know, I know, this one hadn't been deployed--but he heard it ALL first hand and scared the bejeebus out of him) and are going through a lot of emotions and are just thrown back into society. Please pray for ALL of our soldiers--God bless them, they give more than we know.
