Steven Tyler Quits Aerosmith - Joe Perry Pissed

Bands come and go but Aerosmith has been around for 40 years. That is why Joe Perry is pissed off that Steven Tyler decided to quit Aerosmith not by letting the band know, but by releasing something on the internet. Joe says that after a show in Abu Dhabi last week, the band went their separate ways and were supposed to reconvene to do a final four shows. That doesn't appear likely.

Joe doesn't know what is going on and says that Steven Tyler will not return his phone calls but he doesn't think the band will ever get back together in its original form.

“Obviously he hasn’t been giving 100 percent to this thing for a long time,” Perry said. “He’s obviously had this planned for a long time. To disregard his brothers to the point where we have to find out about it on the Internet – it’s like, 'See you later, Bud.’ I still care for him as a person, or at least the person I used to know. But things change.”

  2. Steven doesn't care cause Steven is prolly fucked up on one or several substances at the moment. I'm glad I saw Aerosmith shortly after they made their big comeback in the 80's.

  3. There is no Aerosmith without Steven Tyler. Or Joe Perry. Or Tom Hamilton. Or Bradley Whitford. Or Joey Kramer. None of these guys can be replaced and still call the band Aerosmith.

Wonder what's up with Steven? Sounds like a pretty douche-y way to end a relationship. Kind of like breaking up on a Post-It note...

  5. They've had a good run. It's about time to call it quits before someone breaks a hip or something.

  6. Me thinks that fall off the stage in Stuges during Bike week where he had to have surgery on his shoulder reignited his pill addiction. That is the only reason I can think of that would cause him to do something like this to people who have stuck by him through several rehabs and periods where he treated his bandmates very badly.

Steven is a very selfish addict, and at some point you do kill all of your relationships, but it is sad. They'll only play together if Steven needs money.

  7. I think they need to take a break from each other and retire gracefully.

A few years back I watched their Behind the Music on VH1 and I was surprised about how co-dependent the relationships are among the band. It was part-weird, part-sad, and part homo-erotic.

  8. STEVEN TYLER HASN'T BEEN WELL FOR A WHILE...HE JUST CAN'T DO IT ANYMORE, AND SHOULDN'T.
BUT HE SHOULD HAVE TOLD HIS BAND MATES FIRST..

  9. i know a woman who was in rehab when the whole band came in to sober up. she still recalls that month as about the most fun she ever had, because of them.
sounds like steve needs to make a return trip. whether they NEED to retire or not isn't the issue----this is just a shitty, selfish thing to do to his bandmates. smells like drugs to me.

  12. Maybe he is just tired. That being said, he could have told them himself.

  13. lol@cheryl. i need to catch that episode. it's great to master a trade, but it's somewhat wise to keep the back burners on the stove on.

hopefully these guys won't need any money.

  14. Well, let's not forget that Steven wasn't the original singer - and many bands have proven they can replace a singer and carry on - though not well, usually. That being said, I think it's time they hung it up (so sick of your power ballads, guys) but there's no doubt he could have left the band with a little more class and respect for his bandmates.

  15. I think there's been a lot going on for a while. They've promised new music for how many years now? And it keeps getting put back to "after we do this" or "after....".

Glad I got to see them when I did and it was one of my most favorite shows ever.

  17. "...let's not forget that Steven wasn't the original singer..." He was the original Aerosmith lead singer, even though the guys all belonged to bands before then. I remember--I was around. Yes, I'm very very old.

  18. I didn't realize he was back after that fall.

Too bad, but I think you guys are right...probably got hooked on pain relief again.

  19. There was a blind item in a NY paper in the past couple of days (Post or Daily News, I can't remember which) about a rock legend being hooked on heroin again because of his young girlfriend. This might be Steven. Heroin was his drug of choice back in the day.
