I Am Scared For Neil Patrick Harris

If you have read the site for more than a few weeks you will know how much I love Neil Patrick Harris. The man can do no wrong. But, now I am fearful he could wind up in the Bob Saget/Drew Carey sandbox of has beens. Why? Well, Neil has signed on to do a pilot for CBS where he would host the game show The Cube which is a big hit in the UK. If you haven't seen the show it is basically just someone in a sub trying to do simple tasks for money. The pressure comes from the confined space of the cube and the time ticking away.

I think he would be a fabulous host of the show. The problem I see is that Neil will then be on two CBS shows and will probably continue hosting shows like The Tony Awards and The Emmy Awards and anything else someone can convince him to do. There was a time not so long ago where you could find Drew Carey on several ABC shows and now he does Price Is Right and not much else. Bob Saget? He was even more exposed on ABC back in the day and now he does, well not really much of anything. You have to leave people wanting more and I'm afraid with this show, Neil may end up hosting Family Feud in a few years and doing Harold & Kumar 6 - The Pot Farm Years.

  1. Good point. Too much exposure too fast can prove fatal to a career.
I say that hoping it's the case with Megan Fox, you understand.

  2. ... only a woman or a gay man would say they "loved Neil Patrick Harris"... so that sort of "narrows down" who Ent. is...

... *that* said... Bob Saget ruined himself by basically admitting he was a pothead when he showed up in that marijuana-themed flick years ago...

  3. Bob Saget's stand up is way, way, way better than any t.v show he was on.

    I don't care about NPH. :(

Not much of a fan of NPH. He seems nice enough, he just doesn't do anything for me.

  5. Bigotry and ignorance from classalpha...who's shocked? Sorry to break it to you, but lots of straight men love Neil Patrick Harris as an actor and host.

  9. My very straight ex-boyfriend is a total NPH fan. I don't buy that only gay men and women like him. Straight men not threatened by a guy being gay are also fans. The guy is seriously funny, no matter how he lives his life.

  10. WTF classalpha with the personal attacks?

  11. Now, now, there's no need to curse because someone has an opinion. And lay off the gays, what did they ever do to you?

  12. Yikes. ::runs away from this scene::

  13. Um, my husband is very straight, I assure you, and he loves NPH too. Why is that so odd? The guy's hilarious.

That aside, however, I fear overexposure for him too. I'm glad he's getting the recognition and the work, but I'd hate to start thinking of him the way I do of Ryan Seacrest (who just can't say no to anything, as far as I can tell).

  16. haha rocketqueen! awesome :D

my man is 6'7" and from what I can muster as hetero as they come and his best friend is a hottie gay guy. People who buy into sexual stereotypes these days are so archaic.

  17. Weird. This site isn't PerezHilton or TMZ. Why doesn't he go there and pick on the readers.

  18. Go take a look at what he called people on yesterday's Brittany Murphy (aka the object of his obsession) post. No manners.

  19. My husband and I are huge fans of NPH and HIMYM. He was a hoot in Harold and Kumar as well.

I would say, those with huge issues with someone who is gay hasn't come to terms with his sexuality yet.

  21. Ah, LesSuckNo, 2.0...some people have so very little power in their real lives that it gives them a delusional thrill to vomit their hate and frustration on everyone else...it's amazing what people will say when they're hiding behind the veil of anonymity.

And, like dear Les, I'm sure Enty will ban class(less)alpha, too.

  22. Oh, and what an AWESOME game!!!

  23. There's no way to ban someone on Blogger. :( Good old Les is back as Dick Insideu

  24. NPH has more talent than Drew Carey or Bob Saget, IMO. NPH has done theater. Pretty sure the same is not true for Carey or Saget.

I think NPH will continue to be all over the place. He's also way more attractive than the other 2 so I don't think this is a good comparison.

  25. I know lots of very straight guys that like NPH.

I love NPH...I am not a fan of game shows though. At least not any that are on today......cheesy.

  26. Add me to the pile of husband/wife teams to adore NPH! My husband thinks he's hilarious!
    Rightly so.
    He can do no wrong.
