What Do You Think? Luke Wilson A Diva?

Have you seen the Luke Wilson AT&T commercials? With the exception of looking like he hasn't missed a dessert in the past few months, they are fairly enjoyable as commercials go. Oh, and if you think the camera just adds a few pounds and Luke isn't heavy, well, I saw him a few months ago and he was wearing a big flannel shirt, untucked and the buttons were still straining to release the mass of energy underneath. Now, he wasn't in any danger of joining the Enty or Kevin James club, but he was fast approaching Val Kilmer territory.

Anyway, FOX is reporting that Luke is a big diva on the set. He talks back to the director. Shocker!! Doesn't like all his lines and refuses to say some of them. Oh, he won't be in any scenes with any other actors and if a scene requires it, they just use editing and a double. I have not seen many of the commercials, but are there other actors in scenes with him? Crew members say that Luke is bitter because he needs to make commercials to make money. Umm, I think Luke is doing ok and the reason he is doing commercials is because AT&T paid him a ton of money to do them. Do I think he can be an ass? Sure, everyone can. If I don't have my bacon in the morning, look out. Flask goes empty before 5pm? Terror. Maybe he is on a diet and is cranky.

  1. I think he's being bitchy because he's on a diet, I saw some pics of him going commando in shorts (o.O) while working out. Anyway, he's my favorite Wilson brother.

  2. What an awful picture, specifically the crotch zone.

You thought they were good? I could see the pained look in his eye in every single one of them. You can tell he hates doing it.

  4. I can think of one specifically where there's another actor with him - it's the one where the guy invites everyone on the AT&T network to be his Facebook friend or something, and his phone blows up. Luke says "Back away" or something similar.

Know what drives me nuts about these kinds of stories? There is a mind-boggling amount of talented, kind, mature and good-hearted actors who would kill for and fully appreciate the opportunities these fools abuse and take for granted. Nobody said the world is fair, I guess.

  5. "Maybe" he's on a diet? I imagine he is!

By the looks of that jaw, he's as bulimic as Princess Di on her honeymoon ice cream bender.

  6. I would say maybe one of the directors he worked with maybe was a tool .. I have worked with a few when I did script supervising work .. and maybe his lines sucked? AT&T isn't exactly known for their stellar writing. I will go with Jess on this one...maybe he's just cranky.
He sure is a Verizon hater though!! Every time he disparages my service I give my phone earmuffs!

  7. But all BS aside, I have a soft spot for him since he's the star of one of my all-time favorite movies, Idiocracy.

    Not Sure!

  8. I gasped at how he'd changed when I first started seeing those commercials. He's definitely bigger, but there's an edge of bitterness there, too. You'll always have Old School, Luke!

  9. There's a new one I saw last night, probably during DWTS, and he's shooting hoops with another actor. So, yeah. There's other actors in the ads.

I see these ads all the time.

I hope he's not really a diva, but I guess nothing shocks me anymore.

  10. I think it's weird when people talk in the third person.

  11. Why do the eyes go straight to his ballsac in that photo?

Plus, ee looks like a big spoiled brat in that photo.

  12. He's my favorite actor of the Owen brothers so I'll pretend this isn't true.

    That's all I got.:)

  13. lol @ Not Sure! My favorite was UPGRAYDD!!

  14. Look, I think he is very brave because he stands in front of the camera, unlike Assholes like Julia Roberts who lend their voice to companies but won't show their face. I've always believed in endorsements like this.

  15. Yeah, I really hope there's a sequel, since Upgrayyd came through time capsule at the end.

Will always love Terry Crews as President Camacho.

  16. Haven't there been rumors of him having a drinking problem? Whatever, I suppose I do, too.

I agree with Bad Fish...he doesn't look too pleased with the fact he's doing verizon commercials. But I still heart him and will give him the benefit of the doubt as there is always more than one side to every story. Everyone has their moments.

I do wonder if he's jealous of Owen's success, though.

  17. I was surprised the first time I saw the commercial, but then I remembered reading that CZJ got a ton of cashola for her ads.

His weight doesn't bug me as much as his messy hair. Dude needs a trim and some product.

Not being a big commercial watcher, I wasn't all that sure who this was. But over on dlisted today there are numerous shots of him in sweats and no undies, bouncing around, and now this - is he pushing for a part in a porn movie or something?

I take it he's Owen's brother? He's certainly more attractive than Owen.

  21. great, now all i see is ballsac ,Syd!

  22. One of the most recent of his commercials has him on a plane in between two other people. I guess they could have edited it so he didn't have to be in the actual scene (I know nothing about editing or special effects), although I hope not. That kind of diva behavior is rediculous no matter how bitter you are about being "demoted" to commercials.

  23. If I remember correctly wasn't he the subject of a blind way back when this site first started about being a real bitch on set? No one could make eye contact or ask him a question directly. I could swear it was him because I remember thinking, what the hell, you are not good looking or a good actor so why the tude?

  24. Like Lainey says, sit DOWN Luke Wilson

  25. He does those AT&T comercials alone. I have heard him on Howard Stern. He didn't come across as the most pleasant person to have a drink with.

He seemed pretty envious of how well Owen's career has gone vs. his own. Overall he is a very, very grouchy man.

  26. Why was he even hired to do the commercial? Is he popular in the US?

I only ever saw him in The Royal Tennenbaums and as Ashton Kutchner's asshole brother in That 70s Show - both happened a looong time ago.

  27. @Shmooey - you haven't seen Old School?!

    ReplyDelete
  28. @RocketQueen: No, should I?

I do think he is better looking than Owen, and on That 70s Show he had a significant amount of roguish charisma. He should have made friends with Ben Stiller to ensure an appearance on every future film of his.

  29. pictures of him jogging on the beach in Malibu today and he's got a small beer belly, other than that he looks totally fine.

    ReplyDelete
  30. @Shmooey - you definitely should! One of my fave comedies of all time. He plays kind of a "straight man" in it, but it's still a great, great movie.

  31. Aw, c'mon now, Miss(pdx), you know AT&T doesn't write those commercials, they pay scandolous amounts of money to advertising companies to write copy & scripts for them. They could get bigger bang for their buck for sure, but they aren't writing it themselves. :)

  32. I think both Wilson brothers are and always have been substance-abusing divas. It's not too hard to find stories of their bad behavior.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I used to really like Luke Wilson, but I find those AT&T commercials extremely annoying. It's really lowered my overall opinion of him. But, for what it's worth, I still think he looks pretty good. I like a man with a little meat on his bones. Makes me look smaller when I'm with him! Last thing I need is some scrawny, wormy little guy (like most of the men in Hollywood).

  34. @Rocket Queen: I shall check it out, on your recommendation.

  35. valid point Tea Lady.

I still give my phone earmuffs though.

My gf has a funny story involving a hotel in LA, Luke and plaits of cocaine. I can't remember it really well since we were drinking when she told me, but she was the one who busted out the coke. He agreed and obviously it wasnt his first rodeo.

  36. oops..I guess I am signed in my other account..I am miss(pdx) too @ Tea Lady
