Today's Blind Items

This now B list, but back when the movie was filmed a C list actress, is telling friends she was sexually assaulted by an assistant director on the set of her most recent completed movie. She has also said she doesn't want to report it or do anything about it because right now her career is going so well and doesn't want to do anything to rock the boat or take the attention away from what she is accomplishing professionally.

  1. I thought Zoe also and the movie being Avatar.

  2. I was thinking the movie would be the new action movie (what is it called?) because it is "recent completed movie" and avatar was completed a while ago

  3. Okay, I just threw that out there but I would say the Losers or even that Funeral movie she did.

  4. I THOUGHT FROM SOME OF THE BLINDS I'VE READ THAT ZOE COULD BE GAY...

  5. shazzzba, what does that have to do with whether or not she was sexually assaulted?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Sounds like Zoe, although it could be anyone who's career has taken off in the last year. Whoever it is I hope they press charges or find a way to move on from the assault.

    ReplyDelete
  7. This makes me all kinds of sad...because said director has probably done it more than once and now will continue to do it.

  8. First thought was Zoe.

  9. zoe has been in a long term relationship forever... i guess anna kendrick?? but this blind sounds made up anyway, too vague

  10. Zoe is in the Random photos today. Maybe it is her. Whoever it is I feel bad that she was assaulted and hope the next time she sees said assistant director she's brave enough to kick him in the nuts.

  11. With all due respect to my fellow posters....what does the woman's sexual orientation or relationship status have to do with being sexually assaulted???

    ReplyDelete
  12. I say Gemma Arterton who was in the film Rock the Boat (or Pirate Radio in the US). She was in Quantum of Solace as well and has Prince of Persia coming out soon.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Or maybe January Jones? She had a small part in Rock the Boat-but is she higher than a B?

    ReplyDelete
  14. MIRA...I THOUGHT IF TRUE, THAT WOULD LEAVE HER OUT...THAT HE WOULD HAVE THE 'DECENCY' TO LEAVE HER ALONE..

    ReplyDelete
  15. People who sexually assault others don't have any decency. They don't spare children or lesbians.

    ReplyDelete
  16. what about the other girl from the latest Transformers movie... not sure of the name (even after crusing IMDB). michael bay is supposed to be a real sleeze, isn't he??

    ReplyDelete
  17. labgrrl - I think you mean Isabel Lucas.

    ReplyDelete
  18. This couldn't be Zoe Saldana, as she was already B-List when Avatar was filmed due to Star Trek.

  19. some of these comments on sexual assault are really disturbing. married women, lesbians, grandmothers, men... anyone/thing with a pulse can be a victim of sexual assault. there is no decency from perpetrators, as rose pointed out.

zoe sadly fits this pretty well, i feel for whoever this is :(

  20. dear answer to blind item:
i dont have a problem kicking this fool in the nuts-i have no acting career to protect...send me an email-more than happy to put this douche in his place.

    ReplyDelete
  21. christ-the more i read these blogs the more i am glad that i am in the small indie biz...

  22. I've found the blinds are getting vaguer and vaguer each day...
    Carey Mulligan?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yeah, I agree some of these comments are truly disgusting.

Sexual Assault, RAPE, or anything of the kind doesn't just skip over some people because they aren't the "right" orientation for the common criminal who commits the crime.

Oh, and this blind is talking about the ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, not the director. Rumors get started waaay too easily and to have someone get painted with this particular brush is not right. So, no Cameron or Bay. Just had to get that out there.

    ReplyDelete
  24. @chkyface - yeah, that IS who i meant... but that being said, E correctly points out that it is assistant director. man, i never post - big ole lurker - and i totally get it wrong! back to lurking for me!

    ReplyDelete
  25. This is just awful! I wish she would report the AD SOB.
Bryce Dallas Howard is in the photos with a ref to Twilight. Maybe if it was her on that set, she'd be afraid of being replaced like that Rachel Lefevre (sp?) girl?

  26. If gay got ya out of being raped, I wish I would have known that trick back in the day. Something tells me that asshole wouldn't have cared either way.

I'm used to reading stupid things here what gets me is the ALL CAPS!!! God created the shift key for a purpose people!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Oh and as for the blind, if it's true-that's fucked up. I hope the actress makes the big bucks and gains the muscle to have the dude's penis ripped off and stuffed in his mouth while she sits there and laughs. It's a shame that she won't go forward and that who kind of deal is so muddy for women. It's so fucked.

    ReplyDelete
  28. @ BFB... Shabazza's keyboard is broken, hence the caps.
    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Although, I agree - a rapist doesn't give a frig about who you are.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Well, I have no idea. I wonder how many people that AD has assaulted, knowing most actors and actresses on the rise are too scared to make waves. What's even sadder, if the actress did come forward, it probably would hurt her career. The powers that be like their actors/actress insecure and constantly worried about where the next role where come from, not confident and willing to stick up for themselves. Look at what they do to their bodies just to get work.

Now that my rant is over, I say that no way is this Bryce Howard. Ron Howard, her father, is one of the most powerful men in Hollywood. No way some asshole would mess with her. Opie would make his world a bad place to be.

    ReplyDelete
  31. My first thought was KStew, movie being The Runaways. But she was probably already B list when that filmed due to those Twilight films.
    Zoe is an interesting guess.
I feel horrible for whomever it was... I hope the douche gets what is coming to him!!

@labgrrl - Don't be discouraged. I don't think anybody meant any hate to you. And the reason we post is to discuss. Who cares if you guess wrong. I do all of the time.

@Blah - Her keyboard is broken. It's not her choice to type in all caps..

  32. The part about not rocking the boat is another thing that made me think Zoe. I enjoy all of the flavors in the gossip buffet so in addition to CDAN and Dlisted, I read gay oriented gossip sites and Black oriented sites. On one of the Black oriented sites a few weeks ago, Zoe was being torn up over an interview she gave expressing pride in her Dominican heritage. The posters felt that she was trying to be seen as not Black and there were huge arguments about her heritage. I can see why she would want to avoid controversy after that.

  33. I dealt with this same type of situation. It was an assistant director on a tv show I was working on who was assaulting any young actresses who seemed fuckable - and willing - unfortunately for him, I wasn't willing, and I loudly complained about his crappy assault (he called it 'attempted seduction' and hinted that I'd been "asking for it" and willing to do anything for a part....lol....so not true). Told the REAL director on the shoot that day what was going on. I wasn't asked back the next day to work, but at least I had my pride. There's a lot of tacit approval of these practices in show biz...the casting couch pretty much extends from the minute you attend a cattle call with hundreds of other hopefuls to when you work up further on the totem pole to a performer who gets real lines. It sucks. Problem is that so many "actors" double as real prostitutes (gotta pay the rent, baby) that it makes it very hard for non-whores to prosecute these mother fuckers. You're pretty much assumed to be "willing" as long as you work in the industry.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Cheryl,

That has nothing to do with anything. Seriously. Also, Zoe has been VERY vocal about her pride in her Dominican heritage from the start. She has never shied away from it and she has always openly referred to herself as an actress who is a Black Latina or Afro Latina (I've heard her use both). What I'm saying is, she wouldn't give a shit about "controversy" due to her heritage. For her, there is no controversy.

Back to the guessing......my guess is Gemma Arterton. Hope whoever it is pays a lot of money for someone to go Neanderthal on his ass one day very soon.

  35. Anonymous3:58 PM

    I agree with katie:
    Vera Farmiga
    "Henry's Crime"
3 Assistant Directors (take your pick)

  36. Felicia - You go girl, for actually standing up for yourself.

This is sad....I would not last a day in Hollywood.

  37. Stories like this really piss me off, this guy will rape again cause he thinks he can get away with it, Oh wait!! I guess he can get away with it!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Kristen Stewarts parents are both well respected in the business believe me they would never sit still if their daughter was raped. Amanda Seyfried the same thing, too big of a star to screw with. It's got to be someone way less known like Tanee McCall in the new release Losers. She also didn't work for a year after Hairspray.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I think the AD is in for a world of hurt--deservedly so, and kick in the nuts or other physical torment the least of it. Losing the power to lord over those less powerful along with the economic and professional punishment that accompany the beat down I suspect may be on the way will truly be punishment that fits the crime (although jail time would be preferable).

    ReplyDelete
  40. First, no-sexual orientation doesn't matter and in some cases, those who would commit these acts specifically target lesbians. Remember, this isn't a sexual act as much as it's a power trip for the bad guy . He is THE MAN, dammit-and she's only gay because she hasn't had good dick, and he is going to "fix" that, because he is, again, THE MAN.

Second-as soon as I read this, I thought Amanda Seyfried immediately...but in the Mean Girls days when she played an airheaded bimbette.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I hope the actress gets some type of help to deal with this. Sexual assault can stay with the victim for years after the act.

If I were to meet her, I would tell her the same thing that I would tell my daughters-and I wished someone had told me 30 years ago...Don't let this f'er win!! Hold your head up, you did not bring this on-it is all about him and his feelings about control, power and women. You just happened to be the unlucky one that he assaulted that day-I am certain there are many more woman he touched. He needs his ass kicked and needs it kicked hard. He will get his soon enough.

By the way, I really, really dislike the "woman haters"-the guys who will say all kinds of shit to a woman, but if she were with a man he would shut up. Ran into one of those types (I have no doubt that he does assault women).

Personally, I want to see that AD served up by some officer types who wouldn't mind seeing his face smash into the screen that is in between the front and back seats- in the police car-then gets to jail, when the officer loudly tells the jailer what dude had done (because jails are sooo very loud-you have to yell everything). Finally, our ass hat gets dropped into the holding cell with the really bad guys-murder, drugs, etc. They don't like the sex crime guys much, or the ones that prey on the elderly or children. It may not be perfect justice, but it certainly makes one feel better, especially when the ass hat pleads out.

  42. @Delilah & @Felicia,

I am officially your biggest fan!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. My first thought was Anna Kendrick, FWIW.

The blind reads, "sexually assaulted". Does that have to mean "rape" or would it include other types of assault? Anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Good for you Felicia, you make me proud. The fact that this douche bag assaulted the actress is appalling and the fact the actress won't report it is even sadder. To have someone treat you like dirt is horrible but to treat yourself like dirt.... sorry I'm lost for words. The AD will just keep on doing it because no-one will report him. I understand how it's hard to make a stand but is any job worth being treated like that? I was in a similar situation with a family member and did something about it, the only reason I mention that is because I don't want people to think I'm mouthing off without empathy. I hope the actress has good friends to support her.

  45. Felicia and Ellerbee: You know you wanted it and you know you asked for it. You're just sluts. Crazed sluts.

  46. To everyone who is vetoing people whose parents are known in the business--the vast majority of people who are assaulted never tell, and particularly don't tell their parents. If she's fell prey to the idea that she did something to cause or welcome this, she won't tell her parents because she doesn't want to upset them or doesn't think they can do anything about it. And if the guy didn't perceive it as rape, which many don't, he wouldn't worry about her parents either. Having powerful parents doesn't save you from sexual assault.

  47. @Mango
Sexual assault does not necessarily mean rape, it could be any form of unwanted sexual behavior (ex. sodomy, oral, fondeling, etc.)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Felicia - You go girl! I'm not sure it's any different for any working women anywhere. I know I certainly had my moments to make my choice. It held me back but I could look in the mirror every day. It can be a tough choice.

  49. i like "avatar" girl guess

  50. Amanda stands out for me for this one. What film would it be? Dear John or whatever?

With Zoe, I thought Star Trek made her B list, maybe maybe not.

Honestly though, given how Hollywood treats women, couldn't it be any young starlet? I really wouldn't be surprised if most of them have experienced something like this.

    ReplyDelete
  51. It's really a tough thing if you work in show business. I missed out on 1) a supporting/best friend type of movie role 2) several walk on parts where I would have had 5 - 10 lines and 3) a lead in a TV show because I wouldn't participate in the casting couch. Girls who did got the parts. Once you agree to the casting couch, even if your'e sexually assaulted at some other point in your career, you pretty much can't report it because if the case ever came up in court witnesses would say you were "asking for it" because you had agreed to do that type of thing before. I had two female friends, one a comedienne, and one a talented actress, who went the casting couch route - one of them on the TV show ER! - and BOTH of them within two years had descended into openly working as prostitutes with at that point nobody hiring them to "act."

It's a slippery slope. Almost all major movie actresses have slept their way to get major roles, and many of them continue to do so - how many actresses just "happen" to fall in love with and marry directors? Notice how the directors are ugly motherfucking scumbag looking types? Think this is a coincidence! NO.

The girls do it thinking it's career insurance. Geena Davis. Kate Beckingsale. Kate Winslet. Kate Capshaw. That's just a few off the top of my head. Oh, Rachel Weisz. Notice how their careers suffer after they divorce their director hubbies - Hollywood likes to "punish" these women for going out on their own again because for all intents and purposes, women are all presumed to be whores in Hollywood. IT's very, very sad.

Live theater is a little better. I had my greatest roles and work experiences in live theater. It pays nothing, though, so that kinda sucks. That's why I do Internet marketing now.
