Gabriel Aubry Gets A K-Fed Deal

Halle Berry is set to start shooting a movie in South Africa in July and will be there for three months. Well, Gabriel didn't want to be without his daughter for that length of time so said that Nahla should stay in Los Angeles while Halle films in South Africa. Halle didn't like that idea so a compromise was reached. Halle will pay Gabriel to be Nahla's full time baby sitter and will also let Gabriel stay with them in a house that has been rented in South Africa.

So, it appears this trend that Kevin Federline started when Britney went on tour is the new in way to parent in Hollywood. Pay the other parent to be a babysitter. I bet Gabriel gets paid way more than minimum wage though.

  1. Well to be fair, Kfed didnt work where Gabriel is a successful model. 3 months watching his daughter without a source of income? And how is supposed to provide for his daughter with no income. And honestly no one is better to watch Nahla than her dad.

  2. I think it's great that Nahla gets to see her parents as reasonable people and as friends.

  5. Being paid to care for your own child? This rubs me wrong. I don't care that he has no other source of income. It just ain't right.

if he is a successful model bringing 300k, he should have his own ends. it's great that he's with her, than a nanny, but she should not have to pay him.

btw, you can't babysit your own kids.

  7. I agree with Susan....I know He will lose income by staying in S.A., but it is his daughter........

  10. I agree. A parent shouldn't have to be PAID to watch their kid. If he's such a successful model, and in any way fiscally responsible, he should have some $$ to fall back on.

  11. I don't know how old Halle's kid is, but just imagine when the daughter is older and reminisces about her time in South Africa with her parents, and Mom is all like, "Oh yeah, I paid your Dad to be there to take care of you. No biggie."

    Awesome.

  12. If he had custody of her, he'd be paid child support. As a model, at his age, three months of not working is a big deal. He deserves room, board, and compensation. Plus, how is having both her parents around, caring for her a bad thing?? I'm not even going to go into the reverse discrimination that fathers have to deal with on custody/spousal support issues when they aren't the primary wage earner.

  13. I say it's a win/win for everybody and I don't think he should be compared to K-Fed.

  14. Glad it isn't getting ugly.

  15. The whole shouldn't-get-paid..own-kid stuff feels wrong. But really, the only thing that matters is what is best for the child. And that is to have both parents around. Regardless of the money.

  16. What didn't Halle just leave her with her dad for three months and then she can go back and forth? I think this is intended to sound sleezy when I think Halle was being selfish. And yes, way better than a nanny but I bet she put out the announcement of this arrangement.

I hope for the sake of the child they keep it together.

As for Kfed, not the same story but he was there for his kids when Britney was not no matter what the money situation was, money always distorts the issue.

  19. I think it's a good arrangement, the little girl won't know the difference, she'll just know she's got mommy and daddy around. As RJ said above, he'd be getting child support anyway if he had custody.

What I wonder is, are Halle and Gabriel going to get along for those three months??

  20. I am almost positive the Studio is paying him for this per Halle's contract.

  21. IF Gabriel had custody then he would get child support. At this point he has yet to obtain full custody of Nahla so I disagree that he should get paid because he wants to be with the child.

If the child was in California for those three months would she have stayed with Halle and Gabriel just comes by to see her or take her to his home? If that's the case then he needs to just take a trip to South Africa sometime during the three months to visit with his daughter.

Why the heck does Halle have to pay Gabriel to go anywhere and be with his damn child?

Not taking sides but I don't believe he's anymore innocent then Halle in this breakup so I won't be giving him a (you're so handsome I can't see the forest for the trees) pass.

  22. If they have joint legal custody, then Halle can't take Nahla out of the country without his permission. And she can't change up their custody arrangements without his OK too. Sounds like they've created a scenario that works for both of them. It's not like Halle has to do a movie on location.

  23. The important thing is they both love and want to be with their daughter. So many of the celebs who have kids just hand them off to nannies to raise, while they hop all over the world. Most don't think twice about not being with their kid for three months,so the fact that these two can work out a way to keep them both in her life is great.

  24. @ susan i agree... being paid to watch your child irks me.

  25. I don't think he's being paid to take care of her, he's being paid to drop the rest of his life for Halle's convenience, and since it works out best for their daughter, it's all good.

  26. i wish my husband would pay me for staying home because i have to take the kids to doctors appointments and the rest of that. :\

  27. What do you want to bet this dude's going to try to get custody of that kid like K-Fraud? He might not have married money, but he sure could get at Halle's money the other way. Models hustle day to day. His income isn't guaranteed, not at 34. I guess Nahla was his backup plan.

  28. I don't know what the big deal is. I know a few one-income households where the wife or husband is basically getting paid to take care of the kids. I think it is a mature and good idea. It is much better than having a nanny do it.
