Today's Blind Items - How A Director Got A Job

There are all kinds of ways to get a job in Hollywood, but this one is particularly juicy. This married writer/producer/director wanted to direct this much anticipated movie. A movie for which there was a lot of competition. Well, one day the producer of the movie came over to the director's house to interview him for the job. While he was there the director's B- list movie and television actress wife showed up. She sat in on the interview and made it perfectly clear to the producer that she was perfectly willing to f**k him right there if it got her husband the job. The next day the producer came over and our actress and he had sex. The director got the job. What he might not have expected though is that his wife who has done this kind of thing before has continued to sleep with the producer.

  1. Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann?

  2. Kate Beckinsdale? I could be so off on this one. I need to try to do so research I guess. She just seems like the type.

  3. Judd Apatow/Leslie Mann?

  4. Nevermind. I can't find a film he directed after they were married that would fit.

  5. This is a tough one, I need to do some research.....

  6. Who just got the last Twilight movies?

  7. Bill Condon - is he married?

  8. Ok I just noticed the B list movie and television actress. I think Leslie has done a little TV but does not fit Enty definition of a television actress. I think he said before that almost every actor has done a tiny bit of TV but that does not make them a TV actor.

  9. Gretchen Mol(actress) and her husband Tod Williams (who will direct Paranormal activity 2)? she was a major guess in some BI with a married actress (ex-"next big thing")who sex with productor to read scripts!

  10. Ben stiller and christine taylor

  11. I don't have an answer for this one but I doubt the director would be shocked to find out his wife kept sleeping with the producer. If she did it once she'd have no qualms doing over and over again.

  13. Disregard my guess, too. It looks like Judd Apatow wrote or cowrote all of the movies that he's directed - unless it's one that's not out yet.

  14. I can't imagine living in a world where I had to sleep with my husband's boss to ensure his promotion.

Go ahead, visualize your spouse's boss. Haha! Gross, non?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Serves the guy right, if he was willing to pimp his wife out like that.

Hell would freeze over before something like that went down in my house!

  16. I like the Judd/Leslie guess but I can't see what the much anticipated movie would be based on the projects he has coming up on IMDB.

  17. "Much anticipated movie" --

I think we need to look at the directors of

    1) the Twilight films
    2) the Harry Potters
    3) Superhero movies

  18. This sounds like it is a made up, apocryphal story. Sorry, not buying it.

  19. No Montana Marriott, the Apatow/Mann guess is not a good one since Apatow produces his own movies and he was doing this before he married Leslie Mann.

  20. 53 Days until reveal day

  21. Paul W. S. Anderson and Milla Jovovich, much anticipated movie THE THREE MUSKETEERS

  22. LOL! Okay, so I'm out! At this point, I'm with Ryan....bring on reveal day!

    ReplyDelete
  23. @MontanaMarriott - Milla Jovovich is not a TV actress, sorry.

  25. I love the Gretchen Mol guess.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Wow. I must really be failing at my marriage.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Although she mainly does movies her IMDB resume states TV credits

    ReplyDelete
  28. I, too, really like the Mol guess.

Paranormal Activity 2 is a pretty big deal.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Paul Haggis? He does all three and is married to an actress. Not too sure she's a B- though.

  30. Okay, I just did some more research and I'm definitely on the Gretchen Mol train. There's a blind from Lainey that says this: "Just another starlet with no real significant starring vehicles somehow ending up with a prestigious magazine cover proclaiming her as the next It. Well It never happened. And after all this time and a string of failures, she’s been trying to change the course. So she’s gone back to the major player who tried to make it happen for her the first time. There was an arrangement back then – her sexual services for his professional services – and apparently the same arrangement was resurrected recently in the hopes that she’ll finally confirm a juicy role to kickstart a stagnant career."

And according to Gretchen's Wiki page, "It was in 1998 that she also came to prominence and notoriety when she was featured on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine. Her appearance was both a triumph and a failure — it brought her great attention, but her movies bombed. Dubbed the "It Girl of the Nineties" by the magazine, her career did not live up to the hype"

So since we already know that she's willing to sleep with producers, and since her husband is directing Paranormal Activity 2, I think we have a winner!

  31. @mygeorgeie, that is hysterical.

    I like the Mol guess.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Also, aren't Stiller and wife getting a divorce?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Everytime I think of Gretchen Mol, I think of her as Bettie Page in the movie "The Notorious Bettie Page" (fantastic flick!) and every time I think of Milla Jovovich, I think of her in "The Fifth ELement" and the "Resident Evil" movies. They are not known for TV.

We need to dig deeper here, there's someone we're missing...

    ReplyDelete
  34. Bill Condon is openly gay, so scratch him.

I also don't think it's Mann/Apatow, for the reasons already noted.

The Beckensale/Wiseman and Mol/Williams guesses are both good. I'll toss one more out - Alison Lohman (husband is director Mark Neveldine).

    ReplyDelete
  35. there were people fighting to direct 'paranormal activity 2???????' really??

    ReplyDelete
  36. Another Tod Williams nugget - before marrying Gretchen Mol, he was married to Famke Janssen. How does this guy do it?

    ReplyDelete
  37. If it's Gretchen I will be so sad for her, I've loved all her work and she's so talented... she deserves better and now that I'm skeeved out about Harvey I'll be having nightmares for weeks. It's an industry that makes people do horrible things to stay in the game.

The Gretchen Mol guess is very good! I remember thinking about her husband and saying to myself "How'd this guy get Paranormal Activity 2?" Gretchen is rumored to be slutty so this is spot on for me.

  40. I am so with you there Nancer, PA #2 does not scream much anticipated movie to me. However after reading that Mol is a Scorpio I could easily believe she is capable of any sexual proclivity like fellow Scorpio Gerard Butler. So until something better comes along I will go with Mol.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Mol was the female lead in the 1 season only show "Life on Mars." It was a good show and did get a good bit of attention (lead was Jason O'Mara and co-starred Harvey Keitel and Michael Imperioli), but the ratings weren't high enough.

  42. Anonymous2:51 PM

Paranormal Activity 2 was rumored to have Brian De Palma, one of the Saw directors and a couple others. The guy who directed The Door in the Floor got the job? Plus Gretchen Mol screwed Weinstein, but I could be wrong?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Gretchen (from the looks of IMDB) has been a series regular/co-star on 3 different TV series. One of them looks like it is starting this year. Hubby's resume is VERY light and all indie or at least pretty low key. He has writing/producing/directing credits and I think PA2 is pretty high profile. Plus add in the rumors about Gretchen and Harvey and I think we have a winner. You guys are good. I don't think that would have just popped into my mind if you hadn't mentioned it.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I'm starting to think that Hollywood is a completely debauched place. Who knew?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Completely agree with the Gretchen Mol guess with Jason Blum being the producer.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Anonymous3:31 PM

@mazemerizing - Jason Blum a producer on PA#2 & a producer on The Reader along w/ Harvey Weinstein. Nice work mazemerizing!

  47. what about ben affleck? wife has done tv and movies and is b-list.

  48. i remember when gretchen mol was touted as the next big thing. i saw her in a couple of her early movies and i just didn't see it. she's not that attractive and she's not a great actress either. so i guess now it all makes sense.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Gross! So when the producer came over to have sex with her, did she send her director hubby to the mall with the kids for a couple of hours?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Looks like we have a winner. I am jumping on the Gretchen Mol train

    ReplyDelete
  51. I never guess these, but my first thought was Gretchen Mol.

  52. OT, Internet is buzzing that Matt Lauer left his wife for a 26-year-old!

    ReplyDelete
  53. @Ryan -- 53 days until reveal time of *certain blinds*, not all of them.

Still good reveals. I don't know if you're new, but we get newbies who cry foul every 6 months when the reveals come and not every BI is featured.

  54. Just throwing this out there: James Cameron and Suzy Amis. (Not that James needs to interview for any directing job...)

  55. Is Betty White married to a hyphenate? :-)

  56. I'd go ahead and guess but I'm going to call this one solved. Gretchen Mol. Good work guys!

  58. When Gretchen Mol debuted she was rumored to be on the brink of stardom and the Next Big Thing, but it never happened for her. Maybe she'll do anything to claw her (and her husband's) way to stardom. They have a small child, so major ick factor.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Kate Beckinsale and her husband director Les Wiseman.

The movie: Die Hard 5. They just found a writer and surely would be doing interviews for director.

Given that Les did Die Hard 4 I am sure Kate would be perfect to "seal the deal".

  61. @ Bionic Bunny and other supporters

99 pets have been slaughtered so far.

Tanya Firmage, the acting director of animal care at the OSPCA, asked that residents qualified to treat ringworm, to contact them. Anne Buonaiuto was given as the contact person: 905-898-7122 or e-mail abuonaiuto@ospca.on.ca

I personally know of three registered rescue groups who contacted Anne with offers to take in affected animals and treat them. None received a response to date. The killing continues...

The OSPCA is trying to deflect criticism by inviting "qualified" residents to contact them to help. They gave us hope that many of the pets could be spared. What a joke. Asked for help AFTER the killing started and AFTER a huge public protest, then didn't respond to those qualified residents who volunteered.

The OSPCA is clearing the shelter to start fresh, so to speak. The only clearing that needs to be done is with the entire Board of Directors and senior management.

Pet Valu has withdrawn its sponsorship of the Ontario SPCA. This Sunday's OSPCA fundraising walk-a-thon in Markham has been cancelled and a funeral march will replace it.

Participants in the funeral march are asked to wear black clothing and bring empty carriers, collars and leashes to symbolize the loss.

Please continue to spread the word of this unnecessary slaughter and email your disgust!!! This is our only weapon against them

Be sure to contact Anne and ask why she didn't respond to "qualified" residents who volunteered to help treat the animals.

  62. Yeah, it has some made-up story vibes, but on the other hand, it could just be a misinterpretation. What if the producer was thinking about the director anyway, and the skeezbag wife came home and wanted to sleep with the producer, and the wife and producer are boinking because they want to boink? And what if this kind of sleaziness is so normal in their world that they don't see a problem in it?

I had to look up Gretchen Moll, and then I had to do the Rorschock test of: Can I imagine her being a sleazebag? Answer: Yes, but I can imagine everyone in that business being a sleazebag, too.
