Today's Blind Items
It's rare that I ever hear something that will make me fall out of my chair. First of all, I generally am jammed into chairs and my body can't break free even if it wanted to. Second of all, I have heard everything so nothing really surprises me. Friday night that changed. I was having a pleasant dinner when the person next to me said, guess who is gay. Well, it would be easier to guess who isn't gay, but I said I didn't know. They then said the name of this married, foreign born, former A list female singer and sometime actress who will always have A list name recognition. I had never even heard a peep she was. A gay right supporter for sure, but gay? Absolutely 100%.

ReplyDeleteI like the Olivia Newton John guess. She is married. I think she is more well known as an actress than Estefan - "A" list for singing and really well known for Grease. Just appeared in Glee.

ReplyDeleteThe only rumors about Gloria Estefan have been about her husband having the music version of a casting couch, but never heard gay rumors about her. I know they met when she was a teenager and she was a virgin when they married. I'm going with Gloria on this. There have been gay rumors about Celine and ONJ isn't gay but it wouldn't make you fall out of your chair.

ReplyDeleteOh and Rosie O'Donnell had Gloria on as a co-host of her show once which was really weird. That doesn't make you gay but the show was strange in a what are they doing kind of way.

ONJ would be bigger news to me.
My doubts about Gloria Estafan are that she and her husband have been subjected to a lot of "Are they gay?" gossip for years and years, so I don't think anyone would be shocked if you told them that she had a girlfriend or two. I remember living in Miami Beach in the late 90s when Paulina Rubio got into a fistfight in a restaurant because she saw a woman that had been sleeping with her girlfriend. Her husband had to pull them apart, but they broke a table. I don't think Gloria would even be ashamed if she wanted a woman. Miami is just different -- no shame, no reason!

Victoria Beckham? She admits she is not a good singer, but at the height of Spice Girl popularity... could she have been considered A-list? Would explain the comment that she "will always have A list name RECOGNITION". I just checked IMDB and she was on Ugly Betty and also had that reality show Beckhams coming to America and has a bunch of other bit parts on TV shows, and a part in Zoolander.
ReplyDeleteIf she's married, my guess is Aylanis Morrisette (sorry 'bout the bad spelling). Born in Canada and has done some acting. No one would fall out of their chair to hear that Gloria E. is a lesbian. Morrisette's album was one of the biggest successes of her generation of singers so the former A-list, but with A-list recognition clue fits, too. She's also been outspoken in her support of gay rights.

ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how shocking it would be, but I like the Cyndi Lauper guess. She's acted (badly, IMO), and she was huge in the '80s. She's been married to the same guy forever, and she does that True Colors Tour (yearly, maybe? Not sure about that) for LGBT rights.

ReplyDeleteShowing my age, but I seem to recall a gazillion years ago Olivia Newton-John saying something about her bisexuality on the Johnny Carson show. Anybody else remember that? So, wouldn't be a surprise if she came out. I can't imagine if Cindy Lauper was gay that she wouldn't admit it since she is so pro gay rights. More likely it's Estefan, who would hide it from her Latino community and fans.

I was shocked because of the whole husband disappearing bit, only to find out he is alive and in Mexico... Something is strange there... AND, has no one see the movie "Sordid Lives"?? She was awseome in it. If you haven't, it is a really funny movie and worth the watch!! (not that, that means she is gay, but a funny movie)
