This celebrity that everyone loves (including many actresses) has been famous for so long, he is out of touch with the real world. He has gotten so used to not talking to ‘regular’ people, he doesn’t know how to do it. During a recent holiday weekend which most of his staff had off, he had some problems with his cable. When the cable man came to the door, our star literally did not know how to communicate with him. He stood at the doorway stammering, and then expected the cable man to know what to do automatically. Finally he got upset, cursed at the man and yelled, “Hold up a minute, I’m not good with people.” He punched a number in his cellphone and had a man on the phone explain to the cable guy what the problem was and what he needed to do.

Nikki, I worked for an electrical engineer who was the department director. He could only speak to people when it came to his specialty. He was incapable of speaking on the phone.

ReplyDeleteNot Pacino -- he's a Method actor and a mensch. He'd invite the guy in, chat with him, follow him around, assess his behaviors and bond with him for future roles.

Many entertainers suffer from bouts of depression when they are not engaged in a project. I have also thought Pacino was this way, but he's such a left field kind of guy.

I kind of agree with the folks above who think the celeb in this case has some sort of personality disorder that is masked by the fact that he is surrounded by handlers most of the time. Probably a lot more serious than a case of "big head".

ReplyDeletebut just as an aside, nicholson is horrible in interviews. he's the most inarticulate person i've ever seen. he just is a horrible interview subject. i think some really good actors are like that---they're just vague real people, and find a 'self' in their roles.

Russell Brand. Celebrity on different levels (comic, actor, etc.), big reputation as a playboy, and from the looks of him a heavy drug user which wouldn't help with communication.

Not Alec Baldwin. He works out at the gym I work at and he couldn't be nicer and more chatty to the clients. Not out of touch with people at all.
