Paul Gray Died Of Accidental Overdose

Paul Gray, the Slipknot bassist, was found dead in his hotel room last month. Now, the medical examiner in the case has revealed that he died of an accidental overdose of morphine and Fentanyl. When his body was found, drugs and needles were found close to his body. Paul did not have prescriptions for any of the pills or other drugs and police are investigating where he got them.

According to the DEA, "Morphine is an opium-based narcotic that is used to relieve severe pain. Fentanyl is a synthetic form of morphine that may be hundreds of times more potent than morphine." Apparently this Fentanyl stuff has caused thousands of overdose deaths the past few years as it can be made in illegal labs.

The medical examiner ruled that this was not a suicide, that Paul had significant heart disease, and because of his previous drug use decided this was accidental.

  3. I could say alot, as I was a Slipknot fan a long time ago & stopped being one, when I found out they were put together like boy groups are except instead of Bye Bye Bye its Die Mother F'er Die, but R.I.P. Paul Gray. I loved Wait & Bleed, the original version. :)

  4. Fentanyl is what one usually gets pre and post op surgery. It's been mixed with heroin to provide a bigger high, but it's very deadly combination.

I believe he was clean for a while and then went and did this and it killed him..ala Sid Vicious...still one of my favorite bands

Why infict your addiction on other people just stay high alone and die alone.

Some legacy this guy left to his kid.

  9. @Becki: Glad to see I'm not the only one that Fentanyl doesn't seem to touch. My doc had me on the suckers & Fentora (fentanyl that dissolves under your tongue), and it took away a tiny bit of my pain-& I had no side effects from it (I never get the euphoric feeling most do when taking narcotics).

It's a scary drug for people who aren't freaks like me. So tired of hearing about accidental overdoses like this...so sad.

  10. Fentanyl patches are given to patients with chronic pain where I live--the scary thing is that kids are now starting to root through the trash of the elderly looking for them...they've figured out how to extract any drug left from the patch (which is timed release).

  11. fentanyl. been there, done that. holy shit, called the doc (in the hmo days) and said i couldn't handle it. the patch, never even knew it came in another form.
there WAS a procedure i had when they gave me a patch (they don't give demerol anymore), and it was VERY effective.
one of the carl hiassan books has a character who steals patches from elderly patients. it's a weird drug.
