Top Gun 2 - My Way

Jerry Bruckheimer says there is a good chance for Top Gun 2. "We were recently approached again to start talking about it but, you know, nothing yet. We kicked around some ideas because the aviation community has completely changed since we made the movie a long time ago. So we have to find a way in and how to incorporate the Maverick character into it."

Instead of doing it all over again with new faces like Footloose, I think they should bring back all the original Top Gun cast and have them be who they are now.

Imagine. Val Kilmer plays Ice Man. I can't wait until the scene where he tries to fit inside an airplane. That could take up the entire film right there. When he finally does get in he flies to New Mexico and strafes all his neighbors for making him apologize and kiss their butts so he can open his bed and breakfast. Or in his case all you can eat buffet.Kelly McGillis plays Charlie. After having a couple of adopted children with Maverick, Charlie comes out as a lesbian and leaves Maverick for a doctor.Meg Ryan plays Carole. After Goose dies, Carole married a guy but ended up cheating on him with Maverick.Anthony Edwards played Goose - Goose is dead but comes back in an emotional flashback which gives Maverick the inspiration to dance on the couch of his retired boss Tom Skerritt while asking for the hand of his daughter in marriage. He tells Tom that he is willing to pay his daughter a great portion of his income but that she will have to become a Scientologist and possibly carry Ron Hubbard's baby.Tim Robbins played Merlin and wanders through the entire movie saying, "How come no one remembers I was in this movie?"

  5. LOL @ Tim Robbins. I did not know he was in it either!

Imagine that - Tom Cruise looks the best of the bunch. I was hot for Val Kilmer when he played Doc Holliday.

  6. That would be a great movie and I think I would actually go and see it. You hit it on the mark about Tim Robbins. I forgot all about him being in it.

  7. Tim Robbins was in Top Gun? I had no idea...

  8. Kelly looks great in that photo, but just last week, Star or Us or some crap magazine I was looking at had her and Cruise together "then and now" and she looked like ass.

On a side note, my husband looks EXACTLY like Goose, minus the 'stache. A lot of people call him Goose =)

  10. Finally, an idea for a remake that doesn't make me want to date a porn star and OD.

Also, Tim Robbins was in Top Gun?

  11. Awesome - but there should have been something about Meg Ryan's character having shocking plastic surgery.

  12. I'd put it in my Netflix queue.

  17. I saw "Top Gun 2" and groaned, but if they go with Enty's version I'd pay to see it.

  18. Val Kilmer may be a fat boy, but he's still the best actor in the bunch.

  19. Sorry, I would rent it too. Love Val Kilmer, but know he is cocky. Also, Rick Rossovich is here in Houston and yep, still gorgeous! He is a pilot. He played Slider in the Volleyball Tournament.

  22. how desperate can you get? once again, hollywood proves they have no fresh, interesting, new ideas.

i'm pretty done with movies. i AM, however, going to see 'winter's bone.' read the book and it's getting rave reviews.

and it's not a remake or a sequel, has no special effects, vampires or cartoon characters!!!

  23. LOL, one of your best posts

and add me to the list of people who didn't notice that Tim Robbins was inTop Gun

  26. Thank you Jamie's Girl. I was trying to think of Slider. He was my favorite next to Goose.

  27. I was fascinated that Tim Robbins was in Top Gun because he is too tall to be a naval aviator (Tom Cruise was actually just right). He was Merlin. "You're gonna do WHAT?!!" I just want to see Rick Rossovich again - he has aged in a most distinguished fashion. I had a mad crush on him. He was beautiful.

  28. I might be the only person who thinks Val Kilmer is STILL hot. :-)

    "*sniff* Maverick..."

"Take me to bed or lose me forever!" That line confused me the first time I saw it.

...and also no idea about Tim Robbins.

  29. Melissa, I think you're going to have to fight me for Slider ... I had a MAJOR crush on him!!! LOL

  30. This post was inspired. Maybe Seth MacFarlane should option your parody for a Family Guy episode.

Yeah, that would ruin it, wouldn't it?

  31. One of the best post!

"I can't wait until the scene where he tries to fit inside an airplane. That could take up the entire film right there." Bwahahahaha!! that was so mean and funny.

  32. Okay, Kiki, I'll meet you outside behind the bleachers. I'd fight for him any day. He's not only gorgeous, he seems to love his wife and family and settled into a nice artsy retirement. Did you see him with his son on House Hunters International on HGTV? Hot and handy...

  33. The volleyball scene in Top Gun is one of my all-time favorite movie scenes. Seeing what they all look like now kinda ruins it, but it does make me feel better about myself LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  34. OMG I saw that episode of House Hunters International and had no idea that was Rick Rossovich! I did however think "Wow, I wish he was mine!"

Anyways, I'll always be (even a chubby) Val's huckleberry :-)

  35. Wow, I remember being smug about knowing Meg Ryan was in Top Gun and getting a kick out of watching people be surprised to learn she was in it (years and years ago) and then describe which character she was and watch the realization dawn and they then go: "Ooooooohhh that was her?!?". She hadn't yet broken out when she was in Top Gun -- When Harry Met Sally came later. Which makes me think Tim Robbins must not have had his break-out role yet when he appeared in it, either. (And no, I cannot for the life of me recall him in it. What was his breakout role? I don't know. Maybe, Bull Durham? Was that later?)

  36. Best post EVER--I'd watch this version! LOL

Can't remember Tim Robbins in it either, see now I have to go watch it again!

Am now going to find that episode to House Hunters!

  37. Great post! :)

The image of Kilmer getting stuck made me giggle.

I am ok with the sequel IF it's the originals like Enty said.

  38. LOL! This needs to be a regular feature in this blog. New movies - Enty's Way. I love it.

  39. I think we never recognized Tim Robbins because Merlin always had his helmet on--at least till the graduation scene...
