Tammy Lynn Michaels Says Melissa Etheridge Lied To Her Again

I get the feeling that Tammy Lynn Michaels is a trusting kind of person. She obviously believes that whatever Melissa tells her must be the truth. This, despite the fact that she has already accused Melissa of going back on her word before. Well, on Friday, Melissa filed papers to end their legal partnership and again she caught Tammy by surprise. The great thing about Tammy's blog is that you can feel the emotion. It is not some carefully crafted or worded statement from a publicist, it is her true feelings and it makes you empathize.

SMACK!!!!!!!!!!!! FILE FOR DIVORCE!!!!!! even though we both promised agreed handshook pinkyswore no filing until after tour in the fall her broken promises told to me by headlines

Now, if you are like me, a pinky swear is the ultimate. You just cannot break a pinky swear. At the same time, you don't often see exes who are allegedly fighting all the time doing pinky swears. Even though it is just touching fingers it is kind of intimate. Wonder if they had some ex sex.

Tammy also says she has absolutely no money.

i gave up my managers, agents, contacts, all that good stuff, because i stepped directly into potty training a small boy, and carrying around a small girl on my hip. both excellent souls. and i was a very huge part in raising them for many many years while She with the Guitar focused on her Guitar. the other week i had to borrow money from a friend. two weeks ago i had to scrape together $1.25 to pay for gas. i know she doesn't want to give me money. trust. i'm borrowing cash left and right from people to get through this summer, and feed my kids, with a stomach full of ulcers, thank you. no stress here. :-)

I wish she would use some capitalization, but I get the point. Also, umm, how far are you going to get on $1.25 worth of gas? Does she have a moped?

She also says that she spoke to Melissa the night before Melissa filed, but Melissa did not say a word.

o now.... to open the lap top.... and read the headlines.... when i just spoke to the fame crawler yesterday.... she could have mentioned it..... and hmmm.... wants some custody of kids.... interesting.... but no $ support for me... interesting as well.... so so so interesting, there, melissa. practicing what we preach is always hard for americans, i think. (is that why you and rick warren got along so well? ) oh, the nights of promises.... "tammy, if i ever leave you, it's because i'm crazy, and you have to come find me and get me and save me!!! we have to be together forever!" (remember that one, lucky?)

I have to say that I have been on Tammy's side on this. I think Melissa is screwing her over and probably has someone else already. Didn't Tammy stick by Melissa through all the cancer drama? Never wavered. I would feel pretty crappy too.

  1. I agree. Melissa sounds very scummy. She has those kids, no denying Tammy took care of them. All the rights of marriage but none of the responsibilities??? Thumbs down on Melissa. Shame on you.

  3. Agree with MaD - for shame, Melissa. No way to treat your baby momma!

  4. I used to be a pretty big Melissa fan, but this divorce has put me off her. Seems as soon as there are children in the relationship she checks out. It happened with Julie and almost identically with Tammy. I know Tammy has issues herself. I've read that she's controlling and wouldn't speak to Ellen, etc. Even so, it certainly seems that Melissa is treating her very poorly.

  5. agree with my peeps above, this is some cold hearted shit!

  6. I have been a huge fan of Melissa's for years, but I've been following Tammy's blog for the last several months as well...I'm totally crushed that ME would treat Tammy this way. I have a very difficult time listening to her music now without wondering WTF happened and how could she do that to Tammy. It makes my heart hurt.

  7. I feel for Tammy and everything, but why doesn't she get a job instead of complaining she is borrowing gas money?
When people do that, they are just trying to build a legion of haters against a person, not a good look.
Be a bigger person, get a job Tammy.
Get a job and a few bucks to hire an attorney and go after support if that's what you want.

  8. Totally agree, Jessica. While ME was wrong to leave her without support, there are solutions. I was a housewife for many years and when my husband left, I had no job, no education, and no experience. Guess what I did? I took a minimum wage job and then went to school and now have a great job. It can be done. Stop airing your dirty laundry in public and go do something about your situation.

  9. It's easy to say that she should go get a job, Jessica, and I understand why you're saying that. On the other hand, having been through a divorce with someone that was unemployed at the time, I know that if he had gone to work, all the money details would have gone more in my favor and less in his. So it behooves Tammy to NOT work until the support part is ironed out.

On the other hand, this proves that you don't have to be male to be a dick.

I couldn't think of a good way to put it into words, but you did just that.

  11. If you are a SAH mom with two little kids it isn't so easy to just "get a job". Who is going to care for the kids? Not only that, if someone has been out of the work force for however long - who will hire her and how much could she possibly make to start?

If there has been a decision between a couple that one person will put their career on hold and stay home and raise kids, and if that marriage dissolves, IMO the financially independent partner must continue their end of the bargain until the non-working person can get back on her feet.

I personally feel awful for this woman, as she sounds pretty shocked by it all.

  12. ps. further to the above - I certainly don't mean she should be compensated forever, she should just get assistance until a reasonable time has passed and she can find work. :-)

  13. For $1.25 in gas, you can get around 15 miles, give or take. I'm hoping that means she lives around 7.5 miles from a good divorce attorney who has some innovative ideas for dealing with her situation.

  14. Melissa is a chain lover...she never leaves one lover until she has another. She's pond scrum....own up and take care of your children and baby mama.

  15. And this is why gay marriage must be legal. Everybody has to suffer equally!!

    ReplyDelete
  16. @ Jingle Belle, I was also left behind after a long marriage. I was 45 and had never worked. I got a crappy job and went back to school. I thin she should take the high road, especially if kids are involved.

    ReplyDelete
  17. and what does she do with kids while she's out "getting a job" ?? how does one pay for childcare without gas money?

if i were tammy, i'd apply for income assistance to shame the shit out of Melissa.

  18. I totally agree with you guys. Regardless of the situation, it can be done if you try really hard. I have seen women leave with kids and NOTHING else not even a place to live, and still get it done. That said some people don't have the will, so I hope that ME helps her out for the kids' sakes at least.

Oh, and airing dirty laundry is tacky tacky tacky. I don't care the situation.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Stay-at-home moms go through this all the time with husbands. They find babysitters, friends who can care for the kids, daycare and the like. It can be done.

As the child of a single mom who had no support except for my grandparents (I became the babysitter when I turned 13), I know how difficult it can be for a mom to work and find child care. But Tammy Lynn has greater resources (especially her fame) than most single mothers or ex-stay-at-home moms. So she can make it work.

All that said, Melissa Etheridge needs to walk around with a scarlott "AA" (for adulterer who abandons spouses at a drop of a hat) on her forehead and neck. She's worthless.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I don't care about Tammy Lynn airing the dirty laundry. These are public personalities and they can't really hide in plain sight. And Melissa will have an army of PR flacks working hard to paint her in a better light. In Hollywood, you either play rough or don't bother playing. Based on how Etheridge is behaving, Tammy Lynn will need to be as rough as possible just to get a decent settlement.

  21. I'm sure there are two sides to this story as with every relationship...but I really thought these two would last. They seemed so genuinely happy...I know things can change, and quickly, but it's always sad. Especially when there are kids involved.

  22. As a gay guy, I must say: I used to get so tired of people generalizing about gay guys being whores and lesbians being relationship-oriented and trustworthy. I mean, they're ok -- but every lesbian on the planet is getting over one woman while living with another and starting up a little something with someone else. And then they use abusive "codependency" talk from psychology to justify their behavior. I love lesbians, just don't date one and expect it to last! That's my advice. Unless you're lucky enough to look like Portia and catch the eye of Ellen, in which case, you've probably got some longevity. Hotness prevails.

  23. I call BS on those saying Tammy talking about this publicly is out of line. If this were a blind item you'd all be whining for Enty to out the bastard who left his baby mama and kids high and dry.

    Team Tammy all the way.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think in a lot of ways it might be more difficult for someone with a smattering of fame to find "menial" work. I, too, went through the whole single mom thing and raised three kids all on my own. No support whatsoever. It sucked, but my kids are great, none of them in prison.

Shame, shame, shame, Melissa. I don't care what's happened between the two of them -- but only a scum sucking pig deserts their children. So disappointed.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I still think it is tacky, Hollywood or no. She is out of line. She might of truly been hurt, but by speaking out publicly she is thinking of her pocketbook, not her kids. It's called discretion, maybe she can buy some after the lawyers talk.

Team Jessica, Jingle Belle and Mack! Been there, done that.

  27. Team Tammy. She should scream it from the rooftops if it's the only way she can get M to shamefully support her kids. Damn disgusting!Too many douchebags go unchecked & walk away to start a new life, responsibility free because they aren't publicly called out on their craptitude.

  28. I am on the side of shaming ME.

I heard Melissa being interviewed on "Fresh Air" awhile back, and she came off as completely arrogant, and controlling and self-congratulatory. She thinks she is a big star. That's the vibe I got from the entire interview. Also, she alluded to not having as many hits as she'd expect, as such a gifted singer/songwriter.
I'm straight, but I remember thinking, "God, I could NEVER date this woman!"

    ReplyDelete
  29. ME has left a trail of children and broken hearts.

@Barton Fink-My lesbian friends sure bring the drama. One couple broke up, while one of them is posting sad poetry on Facebook the other girl has decided to date a man. They still live together and their mothers don't know they are gay. All of their exes are involved somehow too. They try to suck their straight friends (and husbands even) into their crap.

  30. Lesbian rights activist, my ass. This really just reeks. Bad. I mean, what's Melissa arguing? That because lesbians don't have the same rights as straights Tammy should be stiffed? Or, that lesbians should have the same rights as deadbeat dads to not pay support to the spouses who bore and took care of the children when the relationship is legally dissolved? Poorly played, Melissa.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Well, chihuahuense, it may be tacky for polite society. But the problem for Tammy is that Melissa is probably engaged in a whisper campaign throughout the industry, making sure that Tammy can't get work. When someone plays dirty, playing clean isn't exactly the easy thing to do. Or the best.

In general, I don't think anyone should put their dirty laundry out for display. But this isn't a general situation. These are two folks in Hollywood who have a marriage that has broken down in an extraordinarily public way. If both sides were being polite and keeping things under wraps, then a tacky display would be unwarranted. I'd blast it myself. But Melissa ain't playing clean. So Tammy can't play clean either and then expect to get anything in terms of a decent divorce settlement.

Of course, Tammy could do what one of my exes did with her former husband: Not take any of the money -- including child support. It was rather brave of her to do. I wouldn't recommend such a course to anyone unless they really want to cut all ties. Which is impossible to do given the presence of children.

    ReplyDelete
  32. We'll have to disagree. In so many situations, celebrities and others think that the rules don't apply in Hollywood. Hey, she can do whatever she wants, but she will still look tacky in my eyes. That's both of 'em. You think that their aren't whispers in small towns? Sorry, human nature is the same no matter what city you're in. When adults with children fight like this, it is the children who lose. Unfortunately it is not just Hollywood where people are so self-absorbed that they have to "show everyone" what a horrible person their ex is. And she doesn't HAVE to do this in order to get money to support her kids. I guess I am just too country to understand this.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yikes....ME: shame on you!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm going to ask this question since no one else has: whose eggs were used in conceiving these children? I know Tammy gave birth to them and an anonymous sperm donor was used but were Tammy's eggs used or Melissa's? If Tammy's eggs were used, I would assume Melissa had to adopt the children. If Melissa's eggs were used, who would legally be deemed the mother (before any kind of adoption is involved)? Would it be Melissa because her eggs were used or Tammy because she carried them for 9 months and gave birth to them? It's more than likely a hypothetical sitch since it was probably Tammy's eggs but I was still wondering. Plus wouldn't Melissa have to prove that Tammy is an unfit mother in order to legally take full custody of those kids from Tammy?

    ReplyDelete
  35. WTF?? no pre-nup? no contract regarding the kids and support. this situation is weird.

    ReplyDelete
  36. As I understand it, Tammy's eggs were used. She had/has PCOS so underwent fertility treatments in order to conceive. Melissa adopted the first set of children with Julie, so although I haven't read anything about the twins I would assume she adopted them as well.

  37. this is a couple that i was really rooting for, and i've always loved melissa's music, but after hearing about the way she treats women (she treated her exwife the exact same way), it's hard to support her at all. she's a womanizing pig, period.

i really feel for tammy. i've read a few of her entries and they're so poetic and emotional, i can relate to every word without actually being in her shoes. she makes you feel her pain and it's so sad what she's going through, but i'm confident she'll come out the other side a better and stronger woman than melissa could ever aim to be!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think Tammy tried to work this out nicely, even after being lied to. I don't think Melissa is giving her any choice but to air this. Any job she gets now will only pay for child care to work that job so nothing is gained. That child care is likely not up to security standards for celebrity children. It's not like ME can't afford this. I get not wanting to assist Tammy financially, but she's hurting the children and that's just completely wrong.

    Team Tammy!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Legal partners get 50% of income earned while together, or at least they should. screw Melissa. Why should Tammy get nothing? That is so anti- woman imo. I understand about walking away with nothing my mother did that with my abusive father. He never paid the ordered support. Should he have?

ME has a shit tone of money and should pay support for her kids just like the high earner in other situations do. Why does she think she doesn't have to be ethical?

This is what pisses me off about people with an excess of money, they feel they don't have to pay their fair share because the proportions are bigger.

    stepping off high horse now...

    ReplyDelete
  40. No big fan of Melissa's, but I don't believe a thing that comes out of Tammy's mouth, or her blog. Although she says she sacrificed her career to be a stay at home mom for the older two kids, there was another mom with shared custody in the picture, as well as a nanny or two, an assistant, a maid, etc. and not much of a career to have turned her back on. ALSO, Julie left Melissa, Melissa didn't leave Julie.

There really is much more to this story than poor poor pitiful Tammy and mean old Melissa and we're only hearing one side of it. And she's nuts.

  43. I'm not saying you're too country to understand, chihuahuense, and I'm not saying it isn't tacky. But given the circumstances and the level of damage in this setting (which does differ than many small towns and many other cities/industries), Tammy is just doing what is best given her own resources (considerably more than yours or mine, but considerably less than Melissa's or anyone else in the industry), and the needs of her kids. The damage from divorce, no matter how clean or dirty, is considerable and cannot be fixed by silence.

To me, it's akin to asking Preston Tucker to play nice in battling Ford and GM because it looks dirty to play hardball against far larger entities. It sounds nice and quaint. But completely unrealistic.
