Lots Of Weddings

Apparently that whole thing about summer and weddings seems to be true for celebrities. Each weekend has brought lots and lots of weddings. This weekend was no exception.

In some home overlooking the Mediterranean, Alicia Keys got married to Swizz Beatz. With the ink barely dry on his divorce papers and one of his baby mamas accusing him of being a tightwad and hounding him for more money, Swizz married his pregnant girlfriend and spent a few hundred thousand dollars doing it. Swizz says that Alicia's baby is being born to blessed parents. Apparently the one he had with the woman he cheated on his wife with before he cheated with Alicia is not as blessed as Swizz only pays $1500 a month in child support for that baby.Meanwhile, James Van Der Beek got married over the weekend to his pregnant girlfriend Kimberly Brook. No big news on their wedding, just some hurried Tweets on Twitter yesterday. "The woman I love did me the honor of became my wife today ... I look forward to earning her for the rest of my life." Sounds like he may have been hitting the champagne fountain a little hard at the reception.
Not pregnant, but also getting married was Chelsea Clinton who married Marc Mezvinsky, a guy she has known for more than half her life. Oprah was not there, but Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen were.

  2. Really, really happy for Chelsea. I can't imagine going through what she went through: being mocked for her looks when she was a teenager, even by Senators like John McCain, even to this day, long after she grew out of the awkwardness (which we ALL go through) and became beautiful. Yet she handles herself with SO much class and dignity.

She looks thrilled and I'm thrilled for her.

  5. Once a cheater, always a cheater. Alicia could have done waaaay better.

Isn't this Dawson's second marriage? Da ya think he said the same stuff about wifey #1??

Chelsea had a beautiful day & beautiful dress. Best wishes to her!

  6. The dress is fantastic, as is her bouquet. Hair, earrings, bracelet. The belt on the dress. Who was the designer? Great to not have a budget for a wedding. Anyone have a clue if she converted?

  7. Vera Wang did the gown. I read elsewhere that she did not convert.

  8. Chelsea wasn't preggers, gee imagine a bride that isn't knocked up. How refreshing!

She made a truly beautiful bride in that Vera Wang dress. I don't get why people are complaining about the Clintons spending so much. It benefited the local economy and a lot of people were made happy by this wedding.

Alicia is only kidding herself if she thinks he won't cheat on her.

  9. Does Swizz Beatz make a whole heck of a lot?

I'm guessing Alicia wanted a baby and he really is merely a donor.

Of the 3, I bet Chelsea and Marc make it. They really do seem to be deeply in love.

  10. I agree with Kate - Chelsea handles herself very well considering everything that was thrown at her as a teenager, and having to live in such a fishbowl. Not everyone has been kind. And you can tell the Clintons are two people who adore their only child.... and if they want to give her a fantasy wedding and can afford it, why not? If I could afford it I'd probably do the same for my daughter. She isn't getting married until she's 30 either, so I have 26 years to save :)

They are probably the only couple who has gotten married recently who will make it. She looked lovely - I wish them well.

  13. Congrats to Chelsea. She is the only one who did the smart thing - married the nice guy, the one who knew her for years and seems to like her for her, not just her fame.

The others will be over within 2 years, I predict.

  14. No complaints about the money that was spent on the wedding.Far from it. Only that she had all the money in the world to have a gorgeous gown, jewels, hair, makeup and flowers AND PHOTOGRAPHY to look absolutely radiant.

  15. I do think that $1500 is plenty of money in child support for sleeping with a married man and getting knocked up.
If he has visitation, then I definitely don't see the problem with that. Why should she be rewarded with a bunch of money to the point she never has to work again?

I liked Alicia Kay but was very disappointed to read that she was seeing a married man who is an asshole to the wife. Don't think highly of homewreckers. I am sure when the time comes Alicia will go thru what Swizz Beatz's ex went thru with him.

  18. I have nothing but the deepest respect for Chelsea. During the scandals, she never uttered one word to anyone. Very private and very classy.
