Lots Of Tim Gunn Today

It seems like Tim Gunn has been everywhere this week. Kind of like a perfect storm. Except in this case, George Clooney wasn't captaining the boat. Tim had the Project Runway fashion show at Fashion Week and his new book come out too. Anyway, he took Taylor Momsen, carried her in his arms, placed her on the ground, went around to the door, got in the bus and then drove over her real good.

Speaking to E! about his guest spot on Gossip Girl he said, "What a diva! She was pathetic, she couldn't remember her lines, and she didn't even have that many. I thought to myself 'why are we all being held hostage by this brat?"

Tim does not hold back any punches. He then said what so many of us think about so many celebrities who are young and don't realize what they have.

I'd say, 'You know young lady, there are hundreds of thousands of girls who are just as attractive and even smarter than you. Why are you acting like this show is a huge burden on you?' She was on her phone during every break, I wanted to tell her, 'If you weren't on your BlackBerry, you can retain this stuff.' '

He also let the Real Housewives have it, although he does admit to watching every episode. It is great that he is still watching Bravo after moving to Lifetime. He is also in the news because of the story I told you about a couple of months ago. It was the story about how Anna Wintour had her security carry her down five flights of stairs because she did not want to walk. It turns out that Nina Garcia does not believe Tim. Oh Nina. I like you, but I doubt Tim would just make that stuff up.

Carry on.

  1. More! I want more! This man is awesome. I'm glad he's not too afraid of Anna Wintour. That woman is considered a fashion diety, but she's more of a despot. Anyone who makes someone rescind any negative comments said about themselves has entirely too much power and ego. With as much bitchiness as she dishes out, she should be able to take some criticism every now and then.

  2. He got some criticism for being harsh on a 17-year old, but I honestly think he has a point. He didn´t say anything inapproriate, he just pointed out that he thinks she has a bad work ethic.

  3. Tim was on KLOS 95.5 here in LA this morning and I heard the guys ask him about the Wintour incident and whether it was true. Unfortunately I got a call and didn't hear his answer!

  4. Oh, how I love Tim Gunn. He is just so freakin' fabulous, and I love how he just says it like it is.

His first book was awesome. I have to get my paws on the new one.

  6. I love him. Am I the only who reads his quotes and hears his voice saying it?

  9. Nina is just another sheep under Anna's control. Bravo Tim! he said there were at least 5 other people who saw it.

  11. Tim Gunn is amazing, and his book is awesome, read it in a night. Nina Garcia is an ass-kisser

  13. I love Tim Gunn and it is refreshing that someone like him says it like he sees it. And no Terri, you aren't the only one that reads what he says and "hears his voice."

  14. I guess people are taking sides in the fashion world. I can hardly wait for AW to fall of her pedestal. What a colossal bitch.

  15. @Terri: uh no! his voice is one of the many fab things about him. so buying his book.

  16. I don't know this man well or watch Project Runway but I know I like him. Obviously not an ass kisser at all.

I just don't know what anyone sees in Taylor Momsen. Zilch talent, just a skinny "waif" with raccoon eyes. I don't cut her any slack just because she is 17yrs old either. She wants to be treated like a entitled adult, so she is fair game.

  17. Ah Tim. You rule. I love that someone finally called Taylor out on her bullshit. Apparently one of the GG directors leaned over to him and said about her: "This is my life. All day, every day."

  18. I love Tim, he's as honest as they come and also has a heart of gold. I hope they do an audio version of his book with Tim as the reader - that would be awesome!

  19. I want to know if he dishes any dirt on the douche bag who is the most powerful man in the fashion industry--who now has Tyra Banks' body trailing after him because her head is up his rear--Andre Leon Tally.

  20. **SPOILER ALERT FOR PROJECT RUNWAY FANS OUTSIDE OF THE US***

Count me in on the Tim Gunn fan club. Not only for saying it like he sees it (you can go to his Facebook page and there's a video of him talking with Jon Stewart about the AW incident, and he completely stands by what he wrote), but also for the way he called out Gretchen on this season's show. He said what he thought, and he was dead-on.

  21. Finally....someone with balls who isn't afraid of celeb retribution!!!

I love you forever Tim Gunn.

  22. Grandpa Gunn is so tiresome. He decides he hates someone and stops at nothing to try to insult him or her to anyone willing to listen. And I'm willing to believe that Momsen is every bit as bad as he says she is, but christ.

His "taste level"--as the designers on PR like to say--is suspect, but then I've always thought Claiborne was smart to hire someone who epitomizes the line's suburban style.

  23. Tim Gunn going ghetto was easily the finest and funniest moment on reality TV. Balanced by the heart-breaking death of Phil Harris on Deadliest Catch.

  24. Good for him for calling her out!

I just watched the first episode of the season (GG) and was totally lost. I must have missed a few episodes last season or something b/c I was WTF-ing the whole time.

I don't think that Taylor is even IN GG that much this season at all, so I agree that not knowing your lines is ridic.

  25. Tim obviously hasn't raised a teenager, LOL. Still, I love him and love when he dishes it.

I don't care for Nina Garcia and I really don't know why except she seems like a major snob. Team Tim!

  26. I love Tim sooo much! I wish he were my Dad, or boss, or best friend, something!

  27. @ audieh_1: Yep. There's a good one in his book on Andre Leon Tally. Apparently they were on the Wendy Williams show together and after the show Tim saw Andre seated, arms out, bibbed, and a bunch of people hand feeding him grapes. And then because walking to your car is a hike, they apparently parked Andre's car like on top of the building, or in the elevator, or something like that :P

Seriously though, I can't watch Top Model anymore because of him. I'm glad Tim is calling the Divas out. Team Tim all the way <3

  28. I had the pleasure of meeting and observing Tim Gunn at a formal event. He is exactly the same in person as he appears to all of us in print and on screen.

    A gracious, classy gentleman.

  29. Love, love, love Tim Gunn! If he ever saw me, he'd tear my so-called style up, but believe me, i'd listen very carefully to every word he said and follow it -- even through the tears. Am afraid i don't take even constructive criticism well ;>)

Another reason to love Craig Ferguson, TG is sometimes a guest and has taped small segments that appear randomly on his show.

  30. And here I thought there was no way I could love Tim Gunn any more than I already did.
