Going back to the 90's for this one and one of my favorite movies. Anyway, back when this movie was shot, this current A+ list female always movies actress still had to audition. So, she did for this comedy but did not get the role. Why? In a very, very brief audition our actress broke down three times crying and screaming. The producers called her "bat s**t crazy." So, instead the role went to an unknown who was deemed by the producers as "dumber than a box of rocks," but has worked her way up to a B+ lister who has always been in movies. Oh, and some videos.

ReplyDeleteCher is in the pics today and at first she certainly had to audition for roles, but that was in the 80's, but she is certainly A list, but she has done television.....but that was in the very early 70's so people tend to forget that.
ReplyDeleteNot sure why this is a blind though. Nothing really scandalous. Someone got upset at an audition, and the person who got the role instead isn't that smart. That could apply to every single actor in the world.
I am convinced this is Clueless and our dumb as rocks actress is indeed Alicia Silverstone. Enty gave it away with the videos (she did 3 Aerosmith videos. During filming Alicia could not pronounce "Haitians" in her debate speech and the director asked the crew to not correct her because it made the movie better. Not sure about A+ actress.

Hey guys - it's not Reese - she was on Friends as Rachel's sister / TV. The only other real A+ listers now who auditioned still in the 90s are probably Julia R. and Angelina, don't you think? And, during the 90s (and continuing?!), they were both batsh*t. Angelina has done TV though (HBO). As for #3, Alicia S. is NOT B+, though dumber than a box of rocks. Cameron Diaz is, too. And, I'd say she's B+ now, previously A-? That'd be for Something About Mary? But, what about Heather Graham in Swingers?? She is gorgeous but stooooopid. I can see Rene Z. going for that role?!

ReplyDeleteThe thing is, this is really old news. I'm thinking enty was feeling a little lazy today and decided to rehash this. The story was that Angie Jo was auditioning for There's Something About Mary. She had been through rough break-up from Timothy Hutton not too long before the audition. She had a MAJOR breakdown during the audition. The stuff of legend. The producers backed off her and decided to go with Cammie D. The rest is history.

ReplyDeleteEnty said the person has only done theatrical movies. Jolie won 2 Golden Globes and 2 SAG awards for TV movies (for George Wallace & Gia), therefore she's worked in TV in the past. Duh.
This isn't Andie McDowell in Four Weddings, which she got because the director fancied the pants off her even though she was wrong for the role. But I hear she is definitely dumber than a box of rocks.

ReplyDeleteFor this blind - what about Groundhog Day? Sharon Stone/Andie MacDowell? (Although I don't consider her B+.) Hard to tell what Ent means about comedy. For me that would be Basic Instinct or any of the Scream movies.
Actually ECFan, he didn't say anything about theatrical movies, he just said movies. And Angie gets guessed for blinds alot because she's done a lot of crazy sh!t in her life, so that lends itself to the assumption she may have done some of the crazy blind stuff as well.
