James Blunt Says He Stopped World War 3

It looks like James Blunt has more going for him than just one song. You know he must be dying for another song just to get rid of that one hit wonder tag. It probably haunts him, although the fact he sold 11 million albums with that song on it probably eases the pain somewhat.

Anyway, while doing press for his new album, James gave an interview to the BBC. I knew he had been in the military, but I don't think I knew what he actually did until this interview. James was an officer in the British military. He was involved in a very famous incident and James says he was the one who personally stopped World War 3 from happening.

Here is what James told the BBC yesterday. He said that US General, Wesley Clark had ordered a group of 200 British soldiers led by James Blunt to capture an airfield even if they had to shoot the Russians guarding it. James said he refused the order and was backed up on the radio by the highest ranking British general in Kosovo.

The general was interviewed after James Blunt said what he did, and the general agreed with everything James said. Great job James. Still don't like Beautiful. You can listen to the interview here.

  1. if he'd just sung that horrendously awful song, the russians would have surrendered en masse.

  5. lol@rocketqueen

In college, I had a roommate who didn't wake up easily in the morning (unlike me who bounces out of bed like a ray of sunshine), and I used to James Blunt him as he'd stumble into the kitchen. There’s nothing quite like having someone screeching at you, ‘GOODBYE my LOVER. GOODBYE my friend. YOU HAVE been THE ONE. YOU HAVE BEEN THE ONE FOR MEEEEEEEE,’ when your only cohesive thought is ‘coffee.’

  6. Actually, more of a scimitar than a sword. I can't decide if he looks more like Beavis or Butthead.

  15. I have his album b/c he was on Ellen before that song got huge & I liked his voice. If I knew they were going to end up playing it on constant repeat on Top 40 Radio for the next 3 years, I would have never done it.
