Willie Nelson Arrested For Pot

At 77 years old, Willie Nelson still loves playing music and he still loves smoking pot. The latter vice got him arrested outside El Paso on Friday. His tour bus was stopped at a Border Patrol checkpoint and 6 ounces of pot was discovered on the bus. Willie was arrested but posted bond and was back on the road pretty quickly. If Willie is convicted of the charge he could spend six months in jail. I would say he is probably looking at some probation and that is about it.

  3. If pot were not found on a Willie Nelson tour bus, it would not be a legitimate Willie Nelson tour bus.

  4. @Jenny: if they hadn't found pot, they would've arrested everyone on site, and demanded to know what they did with Willie Nelson and his road crew.

  6. While I agree that marijuana laws are ridiculous and feel that pot should be legalized, the fact is that currently, it is NOT legal in most parts of the world. So, if you don't want to be charged with drug possession, don't carry drugs. It really is that simple.

  8. @Maja

Or be smart about it and not hotbox your tour bus in an area that has an overabundance of police.

We can all feel safer knowing a hardened criminal like this has finally been caught. I'll sleep better tonight. Jay-walkers, you're next!

  15. Come back to CO Willie. It's practically legal here and the places that allow it are making a fortune in taxes.

  18. Awww, Willie is so not overrated.. he has a specific style and grace to his voice. I loathe most country music, but the man has a soothing voice I can't help but enjoy.

  20. Damn Enty you should have said

He posted bond and was ON THE ROAD AGAIN. (So the song would be stuck endlessly in all our heads)

Willie and Snoop Dog should hook up maybe throw in Tom Petty go on the road for the SMOKIN' & Tokin' Tour.

  21. Those must have been rookie cops that busted him. Anyone who's been around knows better than to bust Willie Nelson for pot. That's like trying to get James Bond to go to AA & Sexaholics Anonymous...it's just stupid.

And Willie smokes that good shit, too...I'm jealous.

  22. What is so sad about all this is that my husband's brother works as a BP agent in ElPaso. He does the dog patrol. Been there for over 10 years and loves it. But, he is the asshole type who would bust an almost 80-year-old LIVING LEGEND over a bag of the green stuff.

    Free Willie!!!!

  23. Nightmare Child - which better person for rookies to practice on than Willie Nelson? It was a sure bet.

  24. Highly doubt he will do any jail time.

Ahhh, Willie. He was my very first concert when I was about 6.
