Taylor Momsen Thinks Young Girls Should Have Sex

I'm pretty sure Taylor Momsen must have lost her virginity at a very young age. Either that or she just likes to talk a whole lot about sex. Not so much in the Jada Pinkett I have sex with my husband 24 hours a day way, but the in your face shocking kind of way. Hey, I love sex as much as the next person and Cinemax is my best friend. That being said, it seems that in her latest interview, Taylor has really decided to stretch her boundaries even more and has even decided she is the one who should be giving sex advice to your kids.

She spoke to The Guardian this week and said, "You don't have to give yourself away just to have sexual relevance. Because I don't think sex is something people should be afraid of. It's part of human nature, so I don't think it should be so shameful – particularly for girls and young girls."

So, umm, do you read this the way I do? She says that people should not be ashamed about sex and even if you are a young girl it is ok to have sex? What is the delineation between girls and young girls here? Is Taylor Momsen the person anyone should be listening to sex advice from?

I watched The Grinch again the other day and it is so hard to believe that Cindy Lou Who is her.

  1. I'm not surprised she's saying that. After all, she is just a child herself. But I am surprised The Guardian (ironic name) is quoting her. That's absurd. She's a child and she says childish things, but they are presumably adults at The Guardian, and they should know better.

  2. Future hag. SFTU Taylor. She only says this stuff so she can have some "relevance" in an imagined sort of way.

Wonder if she is going to pay child support to all these young girls that will take her advice.

  5. The people who talk about sex the most are the ones who get it the least. I'd be willing to bet a large sum this trick is still a virgin.

  6. And when the next shock-teen comes along, and this one fades into obscurity - she will be blaming this all on her handlers who convinced her this was the way to sell herself and get press

  8. After her statements about how much she love her vibrator, I'm not surprised. Horrible role model considering she's still a child herself. Sad Panda is sad.

  9. In the interview, she actually says the opposite - "Don't sleep around – learn yourself first!" She's talking about masturbation - that's why she says "You don't have to give yourself away just to have sexual relevance" ie you don't have to sleep with someone to be sexual.

  10. Well in that context it is a little easier to swallow (no pun intended) :o)

  11. I don't hate her but I honestly don't pay much attention to what teenagers say.

  12. She could have sex in the middle of Times Square and I still wouldn't pay any attention to her.

  13. sexual relevance? WTF?

  14. @califblondy please don't say that. My office is in Times Square and I so don't want to see that!

  16. I still think she was sexually abused as a child. She shrieks of damaged psyche.

  17. @ Mango: I completely agree with you. What she is doing goes beyond a bratty teenager acting out. What she says and how she presents herself to the public points to some serious self-loathing, rage, and unresolved trauma. People can accuse me of over-analyzing this, but whatever.

  18. Wow, someone claims to be a lawyer completely lacking in the reading comprehension skill?

Momsen sounds quite mature and her advice is spot on. And in no way does she sound abused, sorry to rain on your parade, Mango and Green Tara.

  19. I have to say I understood her comment the exact same way as Ben explained without having to click on the link to the article.

Also, I have to agree with her on this so much! Masturbation is still deemed as very shameful among females no matter what age, whereas boys and men of any age brag about it and talk about it as openly as if they would talk about brushing their teeth.
And all those euphemisms they have for it.

  20. It doesn't matter whether she's talking about intercourse or masturbation, the fact is, the topic that she is choosing to talk about is still sex. Not doing great things with your life, helping people -- she's talking about sexual things and directing it to YOUNG girls! To the commenters who called out the Guardian for such quotes, you are totally right! This paper is giving CREDENCE and respect to the garbage and damaging influence of this child who performs wearing barely anything and huge stripper heels that say "TIPS" on the shoe's platform with dollar bills inside! Our media is truly effed up, backwards and sick since they devalue older people and pay attention to CHILDREN who try to tell our children to dress and act like whores.

  21. Well several comments here prove her point about how absurd and reactionary many North Americans are when it comes to girls and sexuality.

And calling Momsen a "whore" or a "slut" or presuming that she was sexually abused just for talking about her viewpoint on human sexuality is shameful, pathetic and misogynist.

  22. I think masturbation is better than unplanned pregnancies and STDS. I think a lot of the problems with sex is all the shame that is cast on it.

  23. I took that one comment from her that girls at a young age are taught to think of sex as a shameful thing. Which is accurate.

  24. Of course young people have sexual needs and desired. They should be allowed to express those, but they should be taught to do it while using condoms.

Doesnt every single study on this subject show that trying to teach them abstinence doesnt work?

I live in a country (Sweden) where people are taught about birth control and condoms from a young age. And we have less abortions, unwanted pregnancies and STDs than in places where they don´t

  25. @ Tatyana and fester - my comment was concerning Taylor Momsen's behavior in general. I believe her to be one very troubled young woman.
