Montel Gets Busted With A Pot Pipe

Whether or not you think pot should be legal, I am sure most of you would remember to take your pipe you smoke it with out of your luggage before you tried to go through security at an airport. Most of you are not Montel Williams though, who was cited in Milwaukee for trying to take his pipe through airport security. You know, he probably wanted it on the plane in case of turbulence. Nothing calms you down like busting out your bong and smoking some pot with your neighbor on a plane. Makes that airline food taste a whole lot better too.

  1. Doesn't Montel have M.S.? Perhaps he has a pot prescription.

  2. Dude's had MS for years - I'm surprised he doesn't have a prescription!

  3. Yes, he does have MS, and it's not like he was planning to smoke on the airplane, where alcohol is available and encouraged for all legal passengers. This should be a non-issue. I have a chronic inflammatory illness which booze and pills don't help. It's time to take misinformed, outdated opinions out of the the discussion and decriminalize.

  4. he does have a prescription for medical marijuana he is a supporter of it. The reason he didn't get arrested was becuase there was no residue on the pipe.

  5. Maybe they didn't want the pipe on the plane because they think it can be used for terrorist activities, and pot wasn't really the issue?

  6. Don't the police have real criminals to chase? What a waste of time and resources.

  7. So, had there been residue on the pipe, he would have been arrested even though he has a prescription? I'm not familiar with the rules for medical marijuana...

  8. medical marijana licenses are only valid in CA. He was in Milwaukee, so yes he would of been arrested if he had pot on him prescription or no prescription.

  9. The rules are murky at best. As it is, he had to pay a large fine, for having a clean tobacco pipe on him. What I'd like to know is how the cops knew it was for pot? It could have been used for any kind of tobacco. Even if it LOOKS like a pot pipe, how can you prove it? I mean, it's not like it's a crack pipe, which can only be used for one thing.

I hate everyone. 'Cept you guys.

  10. Good god Enty, I'm no fan of Montel's television work, but the man is in constant debilitating pain from M.S. He is under the care of his physician, and as most people know by now, nothing beats chronic pain like the chronic.

I don't begrudge a sick man any medicine that will help him.

  11. The rules for medical pot are archaic. Even in states where it's legal. However, flying gets into federal laws where pot is illegal. I also have MS (thus my user name) and I'm in Seattle where it is legal, supposedly, yet still can't travel with it - I'm allowed to grow it. A good way to travel is by digesting it (candies) but for 25% of the population this doesn't work.

  12. Don't forget Miss Bitch, Montel is (whisper) black. It's easy for me to see why WI cops would be assholes about it.

No offense to sensible Midwesterners out there.

  13. msgirl - When did they make medicinal marijuana legal in Washington? My grandma had MS and she also lived in Seattle. I couldn't imagine her smoking the refer though (Mormon upbringing and all). I hope the marijuana helps you out.

  14. @libby - None taken. : )

Willie Nelson...and now Montel...c'mon. Leave the people who NEED to smoke alone...and leave the responsible recreational smokers alone, too.

Montel's lucky he didn't busted in Chicago. They probably would have beat him to death and then flown to his house and raped his wife or something.

  15. Totally agree with all y'all. Legalize already. Just don't light up next to me at Starbuck's, please.

  16. I'm not a pot smoker or supporter, but I totally think this is a waste of time. Marijuana paraphanelia is sold in public stores, so why can't the rightful owner of a pipe travel with it, unless it's for the terrorist reasons as previously stated.

  17. Karmen, thanks for your good wishes, and yes pot helps people with MS immensely. It became legal here a few years ago. Sorry about your Grandma.

  18. Thanks for the explanation, timebob. It appears it is another case of "yeah, it sucks that it's illegal, but it is, so don't do it".

  19. Nightmare Child ---I'm in Indianapolis, so I KNOW there are social liberals here. Just not the cops usually or ever.

  21. If he needs it for his MS, God, LEAVE THE MAN ALONE! More of our taxpayer dollars going to waste.

  22. We could do away with income tax if they decriminalized it and taxed it. Do you know how long ago the tobacco companies patented Acapulco Gold and Panama Red?

  23. slow news day? lol.

  24. It's bullshit! LEGALIZE IT already.

  25. I did NOT know he had MS.

@Timebob thanks for mentioning that, I only came in here to say, if there's no residue on it there's nothing they can really do to him. As a person with an illness whose mechanisms work almost exactly like MS, he has my sympathy.

  27. Didn't Montel also have cancer at one point? Maybe it is out of remission and he needs pot for the chemo?

Either way, I had no idea you could get arrested in the US for having a pipe. In Canada they sell electronic scales, bongs and various pipes in just about every corner store.

  28. What libby said - this doesn't sound like something Ent would have posted. At least, to me.

  29. @Basil

Yeah, he wouldn't have even been stopped in Canada. I've passed kids smoking weed at the same time cops walking a beat have - the cops didn't even slow down.
