Today's Blind Items

This former A list movie and television actor, recently lost a great deal of weight. Apparently it was not enough though. At a recent party, he sat his still large frame into an antique chair and it promptly collapsed under his weight. Damage? $35,000.

  2. Yup, thinking it's John Goodman.

  3. From good old Wiki:

In June 2010, Goodman arrived at the AFI Tribute to Mike Nichols appearing to have lost significant weight. There has been no official word on how much weight he has lost or how he lost it, but the weight loss has been rumored to be at least 200 pounds.[10] According to John himself, while on The Late Show with David Letterman, he is boxing to help control his weight.[11]

  4. Seth's frame is average, slightly overweight at best, he got into really good shape for Hornet.

  5. Gotta be Goodman. He's still big but really healthy coming from his previous weight.

  6. Wow, this is embarrassing and I feel for the guy.

  7. I've seen large people break chairs and it's always embarrassing for everyone involved. Tough break for him.

off topic. for african amer CDAN readers: "the game" is back with all new episodes on BET. the original actors are back too.

oh yeah also, regina king and malcolm jamal-warner are engaged!

  9. one New Year's Eve, my father's cousin sat down in one of my mom's antique dining chairs, broke it and smashed to the ground. My whole family had been drinking, so everyone was howling, and he laughed a little, but I could not help but feel HORRIBLE for him! Nothing is funnier to me than seeing someone fall on their ass (don't hate me for that) but doing it in such a public way took the funny out. I can't imagine how this person felt, being famous and all. But if it was John Goodman, he probably had a good laugh at himself.

  10. Goodman. Poor guy. He used to "work out" at a gym I went to in Encino back in the 90's. He'd show up with a trainer like every other month or so, huff and puff for an hour-ish, then disapper for another month or two. He was always warm and friendly to us commoners but just looked so, so unhealthy. Hope he's better now.
I believe he just got cast in something recently?

  11. Sorry, I don't see John Goodman as a former A list movie actor. My first thought was Travolta.

  12. ea17 - Way to single people out! I guess all of us other readers can skip over your posts from now on since you would assume we wouldn't be interested.

  13. ^^ Agree. Guess what ea17, I know who both Regina King AND Malcolm Jamal Warner are!

  14. goodman for sure. very good actor. i'm glad he's lost the weight.

  15. First person I thought was Goodman. Could also be Dan Akroyd.

I once saw a thin man sit on a dining room chair and break it. He sat on the floor stunned while everyone howled with laughter.

  16. Kevin James looks fairly "fluffy" in the previews for his new film.

Goodman fits, IMO, and let me add, I had the hots for him back in the Roseanne days. He had this little sparkle that was so cute. I hope he's healthy and happy. Isn't he in th show Treme on HBO?

  17. I like the Goodman guess, but was he A list movies?

  18. @Stephen:

I would definitely say Goodman was A-List at a time. (Late 80's-Early 90's)

Lead actor in the #1 TV sitcom, and lead in several movies: The Babe, King Ralph, Flintstones, along with some great supporting work in films like Stella, Barton Fink (Golden Globe nom), Always, etc.

  19. maybe the poster thought no one else would care. Why get your panties in a bunch? They didn't say anything offensive.

re: Regina King...she was on Andy Cohen's show the other night with Jackee (so drunk) and was NOT holding anything back on those RHW bitches.

  20. ea17: I like all the flavors at the gossip buffet so you are welcome here.

  21. I have a feeling the aside was geared more towards "The Game" being back on BET as opposed to anything about Malcome Jamal Warner and Regina King.

Only thing offensive there is that every Black person gives a damn about "The Game" like it was "Roots" in the first place.

Though I'm not African American, I did watch the Game on occasion. Just saying.

  23. I'm not saying it was offensive, just annoying.

  24. I dunno. I never thought Goodman reached A-list status....

has drew carey been in movies?

  28. Enty?! Those screams you hear are screams of despair from the bacon industry if he is indeed the subject of the blind. ;) You'll always be A List to me, Enty!

  29. @ea17:
Wasn't offended, but did find it strange...I LOVE the Game. I watched it: original run, syndication, BET marathon and plan to see the new episodes...not AA

  30. I'm from New Orleans and have seen John Goodman on many occasions - one of the nicest people on the planet and very large. Not scary large but he looks the same size on tv - at least to me.

Back in the day, yes he was A-list and may be A-list still w/the success of Treme, but what do I know.

I honestly think this could be Kevin James. If you were to put John Goodman and Kevin James side by side today, after all the weight Goodman has lost - John Goodman would be the smaller man.

  31. for all the whites out there V & NCIS are new tonight.

  32. $35,000 for a chair?? Must have been a Louis XIV or something. You'd think he'd have the sense to be careful where he sat.

If it's Goodman at least he has the bank to write a check for the damage.

  33. Oooh, how painfully embarrassing. This happened to a friend of mine at a public event & I was MORTIFIED for them. :(

Probably didn't take much if it was really old. I have antique chairs (not $35k ;)) & someone no where near overweight actually sat in one & broke it.

  34. Um...John Goodman was in The Big Lebowski only one of the greatest movies of all time. I'm both appalled and horrified this has not yet been mentioned. The rug really pulled the room together, did it not?

  35. The Powerball jackpot is $67 million tomorrow. That's for blacks, whites, men, women, straights, gays, Jennifers, Angies, Christians, Muslims, witches and even the people who like Taylor Momsen.

    thanks, chihuahuense and cheryl.

oftentimes, when afr amers are primarily apart of something, mainstream, tends to ignore it or doesn't care. hence, my statement on 'the game', MOSTLY watched by blacks. it wasn't meant to piss anyone off.

the wire was "superb" tv, but where were mainstream accolades, i.e. emmys nom/win, golden globes nom/win?

    peace.

  37. I was thinking Val Kilmer. The snacks did get the best of him.

  38. I was thinking Val Kilmer as well, but he's done very little tv. Sometimes I like to watch Top Gun just to remember what it was like when he was hot.
