Random Photos Part One

Four parts today.

Everyone I know used to love Natalie Portman. Now, without exception it seems that most women I have spoken to have turned against her. The guys still like her. What do you think?
Meanwhile, everyone has been really liking Mila Kunis and has had a big boost of popularity.
Olivia Wilde in Mexcio City today.
Paris Hilton tries out her Halloween outfit. Oh, this is her everyday clothing? Yikes.
Some perfectly normal official thing, but at least
Kate can laugh.
Rosario Dawson at some party at Chateau Marmont.
Who thinks Tara Reid weighs more than 90 pounds?
Vanessa Hudgens weighs like 105 and looks like she weighs about 20 pounds more than Tara.

  1. I have never liked Natalie Portman - annoying.

    Hate her smile.

  2. Oh, thank goodness for Random Photos!

Personally, I don't hate Natalie. I wish she didn't sign that Polanski petition, but there are other signatures that I wish weren't on it, either. I thought she was astonishingly great in Black Swan, and she tends to pick interesting roles in movies that I want to see. Except the one where she gets pregnant and lives in a Wal-Mart, though. That movie is TERRIBLE.

Oh, and her SNL Digital Short STILL kills me! She's a good sport.

I don't *get* Olivia Wilde. But I also don't get Megan Fox, and I find the two to basically be indistinguishable.

Vanessa is so gorge. I LOVE her hair. She kinda looks like a baby Sophia Vergara in that shot.

  3. I hope William and Kate can make it.

  4. I love that shot of Vanessa. She looks beautiful.

I think Natalie is fine. I have no problem with her.

  5. Kate looks like she will really enjoy being a princess........
As for Natalie....shes so wishy washy she just gets on my nerves...really hoping Annette Bening for the win.

  6. I don't mind Natalie, and love her work for animals.
I think sentiment has turned against her recently because of the rumours she scooped her bf from his long-term girlfriend and her baby might not be his.
I don't think she's the greatest actor....kind of hit and miss.

    Overdress much, Hudgens?

Paris Hilton pathetically desperate for attention.

Mila is the cutest! I want to put her in my pocket.

  7. Kate is going to make one absolutely gorgeous and classy princess! She won't fill Diana's shoes, but she will create her own legacy. I hope their kids look like her and Diana and don't get any of the Charles genes.

  8. Natalie Portman - don't love her or hate her but her performance in "The Black Swan" was incredible. On the other hand I think Mila Kunis who I've really liked in other things ("American Psycho 2" for instance) was just kind of so-so in that movie.

  9. I think the difference is fake vs. real. You can always hear a little fake in NP's voice in interviews. She may seem to be talking about personal stuff, but it's always just cutesy innuendo. I think a lot of women get annoyed with grown women who still giggle and talk like girls. It's fake.

Mila, OTOH, is so real and down-to-earth. She's incredibly smart and speaks her mind. And she acts her age.

All JMO, I guess. Feel free to disagree. I liked NP in several movies, it's just her real-life persona feels contrived.

  10. I think once you steal another woman's man, all other women don't like that! Natalie definitely broke the hands off rule, and now is sporting that baby bump, rubbing it in. Bad Karma.
Mila Kunis can do no wrong in my book, she is just absolutely fabulous.
Poor Tara Reid, she looks close to death. Life has not been kind to her AT ALL. We at least she has the Big Lebowski on her record. -

  11. wow, Mila and Olivia Wilde look HOT!!! I want both of those outfits.

Kate looks like a lot of fun...me and my charge nurse were talking last night about how whether Ivy League educations were worth it. He was saying no, and I said that back in the day, the parents of girls wanted their girls to go to an Ivy League school to get an Ivy League guy, not education. He said, "well, it worked for Kate Middleton." I was like, damn, I never thought've that. Even though I don't think she is as "common" as everyone in the media makes her out, she certainly hit the jackpot just by attending the right school.

  12. Why is Vanessa wearing an Apple hat?

Kate looks great, love the red suit.

  14. I can't stand Natalie and her performance in the 3 SW movies should put her on a permanent Oscar Disqualification list. My people are dying, Senator. Hold me like you did on Naboo. Jesus Christ -- that block of wood is going to get an Oscar? Fuck Hollywood.

Olivia Wilde always looks terrific, whether it's a red carpet or an airport. Love her.

  15. I was never a big NP fan, she always seemed really self righteous and snotty.

Mila is hot, smart, and fun!

    I like Kate's style.

HWood sure chewed up and spit out Tara.

  16. totally agree with Cancan!!
never had a prob with her but i was next to her at the Farmers Market months ago (at the kitchen there, i was doing a demo and was waiting to ask if i could wash my carrots in their sink) as i was waiting, i was looking at the people in front of me, b/c well, they were in front of me. she immediately turned her back to me...
totally changed my opinion of her.

  17. It took a long time for the 'The Professional' goodwill to wear off for me. I think 'Star Wars' started the decline. The writing may have sucked balls, but she didn't exactly elevate it.

Mila Kunis, it's the opposite. She was so whiny bratty on 'That '70s Show,' then she blew me away in 'Sarah Marshall.'

  18. You know, I still like Natalie as an actress. I admit, I'm not thrilled she broke up a long term relationship- even if it's just for the publicity and so she could get a kid out of it. I wish more women could be like Sheryl Crow and just say screw it, I'm going to do this on my own. Now that's empowering.

However, I can't blame her for Star Wars. George Lucas is a HORRIBLE writer/director (compare the first Star Wars to ESB, which he didn't write or direct) and pretty much made everyone come off as wooden in the movies. (Hayden C can turn in good work, but he seems to need a good director) The only one who came out of it untarnished was Ewan, and that's just because you could tell he was having a blast the whole time.

I like Mila because she's a gamer and doesn't feel ashamed to admit it.

  22. I have not liked Natalie Portman ever since her quote that people who work just for money, instead of for art or for passion, are no better than prostitutes. I thought this was an extremely rude (not to mention naive) thing to say. Not everyone is a grossly overpaid movie star, Natalie. A lot of people have to do jobs they hate-yup, just for the money.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I agree with all the naysayers about Natalie. Exactly how I feel about her. She sucks. Didn't she also say eating meat was the same as rape?
@CanCan LMAO you are too funny and you nailed it!

  24. Oh, and I think Mila is the most gorgeous, awesome woman in Hollywood, LOVE her!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Natalie may come across as pretentious at times, but unless I hear that she is mean to the crew on her movies, she has no ill will from me.

And of COURSE Kate is smiling! She hit the jackpot big time. She's loving it!

  26. I could never be a royal. The clothing is way too formal. If I can't wear my baggy jeans and Uggs, then count me out.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I don't totally HATE Natalie Portman, but I'm not a fan, either. I have always found her silly and somewhat annoying in her interviews. I think her participation in the three newer "Star Wars" films may have also tainted my view, because I am an old-school, original-trilogy fan (became enthralled by "Star Wars" at age 12 in 1977).... and the more recent trilogy just sucked ASS (IMHO).

  28. Natalie Portman is very smug, and that's her problem. It is perceived that she looks down her nose at everyone.

Kate Middleton is a gold digger of epic proportions, and will do just fine as princess.

    ReplyDelete
  29. NP is a pretentious twat. She was even bad as a judge on Top Chef, for crying out loud. I peg her as a big ol' phony.

I don't know what it is about Mila Kunis, but I just love her, and I couldn't tolerate "That 70's Show".

  30. I don't live in the States, so I wonder how does Tara REid make an income, and she isusually linked with attractive men who look??? well dressed

  31. Never liked the Portman.

Love Mila and want to adopt her!

  32. I was pretty indifferent to Natalie Portman, until recently. Now, I'm on NP overload. She does come across as arrogant and like she is the first person to ever be pregnant. That bable that has come out of her mouth recently, eye roll. And I totally forgot about that Top Chef judging. Oh, I did hate her on that.

Sadly, William is rapidly turning into his father. What happened to his hotness?

  33. OK since Blogger ate my 1st comment. Here's what I said.
NP seems like she thinks she's entitled. She said she doesn't like fans who think she was great in the Professional because it was a long time ago. I hated her comment about people who work for $$$ not art.
Yeah, like she took that WalMart movie for ART. Sell it elsewhere , sister. That crap ain't flying here.

As for the whole Star Wars BS. The one who I think had the BEST reaction to that was. Sam Jackson who said he'd have done ANY role. He was so excited to be a JEDI he was bouncing in his seat like a kid at X-Mas.

  34. I get Natalie Portman mixed-up with Anne Hathaway. I find them interchangeable for some reason. I find Natalie Portman to be a brunette version of Goopster-a pretentious snob.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Kate OK. Just OK. And I pray to god she doesn't turn out to be a total nutcase like Diana.

  36. Wow, I think Libby's comments about fakeness were brilliant and right on the money. Women are vicious against each other, but there are also much more keyed in at spotting this type of thing. I'm on the fence about Natalie, despite claiming Black Swan as my favorite movie last year. But I love Mila Kunis...she comes across as transparently warm, open, and cool. Someone who would make a good friend. Natalie does not. She's always seemed more like the girl who had a lot of guy friends and not so many female friends, which is always a red flag. I don't know anything about her though, it's all just garnered from media interview impressions. In fact, I'd like her based on her work IF I'd never seen her interviewed.

But also, don't you think there's a huge Sally Field effect going on here? Sally destroyed her career for a solid decade by giving that desperate Oscar speech, and I think Natalie's at the Golden Globe created a similar bile-inducing response in people really gave the backlash organization...

  37. I am a big defender of Natalie. She attended public school while appearing in movies, and went on to Harvard.
The go-getter student co-authored, with two adult scientists, the paper "A Simple Method to Demonstrate the Enzymatic Production of Hydrogen from Sugar," published in the Journal of Chemical Education - and which made Portman, then a senior, a semifinalist in the prestigious Intel Science Talent Search.

She also competed in track and forensics, was in the Japanese and French clubs, made the National Honor Society and won a women-in-science award from St. John's University - all while continuing a movie career that began at age 12 with an unforgettable film debut as a pre-pubescent assassin-in-training in the cult hit "The Professional" (1994). She went on to attend Harvard, graduating in 2003.
I think people want to see her fail. I don't know why. She has worked extremely hard for her success.

  38. @lutefisk -- I think some detractors WANT to see a smart, beautiful, talented woman fail dramatically in Hollywood. Natalie is so seemingly well-adjusted -- and confident -- that I think it drives people insane. :-)

I think she's a snot, but that doesn't overpower my respect for her career. I don't even count those Star Wars films -- partly because I never saw them, and partly because I know *every* actor sells out every once in a while.

And, I mean, HONESTLY, she did a crapton more with HER Ivy League education than James effing Franco ever will.

  39. amoteafloat, when Lindsey Lohan was at the height of her popularity Newsday did an article comparing her to Natalie. Basically they blamed the parenting of the two actresses for the differences. Natalie was encouraged by her parents to continue her education, while we all know what Dina encouraged Lindsey to do.
My daughter has many of Natalie's teachers, and they all say that she was a typical student in school, and never put on movie star airs. I admire her for leading as normal a life as possible while playing Queen Amidala.

  40. Whenever I see the name "The Lutefisk" I am reminded of a LA punk band in the 90's.. so random.

  42. @Jamie's Girl - I suppose you think anyone who marries William would be a gold-digger? After all, Kate comes from a good family and isn't hurting for money.

  43. I like Natalie Portman as an actress and think she is immensely talented.

I've always held her in a high regard given the fact that she does have an ivy league education & seems to take her work a little more seriously than say, Lindsay Lohan. The rumors about her busting up her fiance's relationship do make her look kinda bad though (although I think it's more on him than her).

LOL @ making fun of "Where the Heart Is." I know y'all are right but I liked that movie (and the book!). The names made me laugh (Americus & Thorny).

    ReplyDelete
  44. I love Portman. I don't care how she sometimes comes off in interviews or seems more a 'guys' girl' (a plus in my book anyway) or whatever--with all the trainwrecks out there and the way (generally) she handles herself, she's still aces to me.

    ReplyDelete
  45. @ Rocket Queen. Regarding the Kate being a gold digger comment. I don't know Kate personally or what her morals are like, but I can't see her as being a gold digger either. First of all, she is not going to be a trophy wife. She will be working, and now for the rest of her life will have zero privacy. Not to mention, she has no power. At most, she might get to boss some servants around and make them scared, but she could probably do that anywhere by booking into a hotel.

Anyway, she had alot of years to think about what she is getting in to and she still seems genuinely happy. I think they might actually love each other.

  46. I don't like or hate Portman but I'm beginning to like her more because of the growing hate on her. I hate it when anyone is ganged up on and it is happening with Portman now. With all the pretentious assholes in Hollywood people are picking on Portman as one of the worst? Give me a break.

Yes she comes across as spoiled and entitled but she's not flashing us with upskirt shots, doing drugs or embarrassing herself in public like her contemporaries are. For graduating from college alone she gets extra points with me.

But yeah I think people are turning on her because of the baby and Benjamin leaving his fiance for her. Lainey who used to love her now hates her and it all started when she started dating Benjamin. I'm not holding Natalie blameless but it always amuses me that people lavish all the hate on the woman when a man leaves his wife/girlfriend/fiance and the man gets off scot-free (like Brad Pitt). Like Portman put a gun to his head and forced him to have sex with her.

I mean someone over at Lainey's site wrote a vicious entry on Natalie today and you could almost see the foam coming from her mouth as she wrote it. It was disturbing because I don't get that kind of hate and the person who wrote that seriously needs mental help. If hating someone that much causes you to be a hosebeast it's time to back away and find something else to occupy your time.
