Wonder Woman Huh?

We all knew it was coming, but now there has actually been casting for the pilot of Wonder Woman. For years, there has been speculation if the project would get done, and if so, who would play the title role. Well, the winner of your life is going to change forever is Adrianne Palicki. She has been cast to star in the David E. Kelley show.

Here is what I think. It has the potential to be really good with David E. Kelley heading it up. It also could blow. Bionic Woman was going to be great, but it failed miserably. I am not convinced that superheroes and primetime television can co-exist. Look at The Cape. Not a good show. Heroes worked ok for a season or two, but then the writing got bad and it faded away. The original show was campy and not very serious and featured that same kind of action as you would see on Charlie's Angels or Bionic Man or Bionic Woman. In other words, not much, but it was fun and light and it worked. It's a tough thing to pull off. Do you think it will work? Will she bring her magic lasso and invisible plane?

  1. Linda Carter will always own that role.

  2. I don't want to sound like a tragic old geek, but I think "Smallville" for the first three or four seasons (only those!) is my favorite television ever.

  3. Physically, she is a good pick! We'll see what the writers can do.

  4. I really liked Adrieanne Palicki on Friday Night Lights and I think she can bring a physicality to the role because of her size and athleticism. But like Enty pointed out about Heroes, it all comes down to the writing. I'll definitely check it out.

  5. Not sure about David E Kelley. Joss Whedon, where are you?

  6. @Mark

I LOVE Smallville, and this last season has been MAGNIFICENT. They are definitely going out with a bang.

As for Wonder Woman, that role will ALWAYS be Lynda Carter, but I think Adrianne may be able to pull it off. At least she somewhat has the look. And David E. Kelly makes good shows so I believe if anyone could make it successful it could be him.

  7. I'd check it out. She has the look. And, like others said, it really comes down to the writing.

  8. No interest in a tv wonder woman. I'm getting pretty sick of all the superhero movies and shows, truth be told. And like Patty said, there is only one wonder woman: Ms. Carter.

  9. Thank you all for the Linda Carter love! She was my first girlcrush---I wanted to be a sexy badass AND look just like her.
In fact, I'm probably still trying to be a sexy badass just in general.

I don't know this girl that they picked but I saw her in a low-cut gown picture today, and she has terrible frisbee-under-skin implants! Ugh. LC had REAL wonder-boobs! And they were awesome.

  10. I read that she is going to be a billionaire businesswoman by day, superheroine by night. Sounds like Batman in drag.

  11. I'm fine with the casting, but David E. Kelley is not a good match for this franchise. I'd rather see it in the hands of Rob Thomas.

  12. Why does everyone always forget the great and handsome Lyle Waggoner in all this?

He was like the poor man's Rock Hudson, back in the day. He was pretty good on 'Carol Burnett', too.

  13. Linda Carter had one of the sickest figures I have ever seen.

  14. She was fantastic in FNL. I'll check it out.

  15. I just can't believe for the movie they want Zooey Duchamel. Is it just because she has dark hair and pretty eyes? Personally...I think it's a poor casting choice. Wonder Woman is an Amazon. Amazon is a beautiful, muscular, tall, big woman with a touch of feminine. Zooey is tiny and cute. The only person who would have fit the role a few years ago was that Xena chick.

  16. Adrianne is a brilliant actress! I think she can make up for a lot of mediocre writing.

I'm a little iffy about the premise - she's going to be playing THREE characters - Wonder Woman, a rich CEO, and the CEO's secretary. That could easily get cheesy.

I do think it's funny that the pilot includes a quip about having expected her to be bustier than she is, lol.

  17. If she's in a David E.Kelley show, she'll need to become stick thin, that seems to be the way he likes them (ala Ally McBeal). Like it's been said, not sure he's the best choice.

  18. I don't know if I will watch. I'll wait & see how good it is first. That girl is very pretty. Kind looks like Tiffany Amber WhatsHerFace

  19. I'm...OK with this.

Personally, I would have gone with Bridget Regan (from Legend Of The Seeker), but that's just me.

@ Lady J- YES. THIS NEW SEASON OF SMALLVILLE IS MADE OF WIN AND AWESOME. And the final episode will make you cry tears.

  20. When I first saw this casting news I thought it was for a Wonder Woman MOVIE. That I would watch. I probably won't watch a wonder woman tv show. I don't know why, but I agree with Enty. Superheros are just better on the big screen, not great on the small screen. I do like Adrienne Palicki though.
