Jonathan Rhys Meyers Being Sued

Last May, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, tried to board a United Airlines flight at 6am. He was stopped because he was drunk. Jonathan went on the rant of all rants and screamed and yelled and allegedly also assaulted and hit one of the women who was trying to stop him from boarding the plane. As a result, Jonathan has been banned from ever flying on United Airlines again. Do you know how bad you have to act for an airline to never want your first class dollars again? Well, it was so bad that the woman who was allegedly assaulted and hit has filed suit against the actor and is seeking more than $15K for her pain and suffering. She says that since the incident she has been unable to work and has suffered permanent physical and emotional distress. I think it is just her wanting some money. You know that in her position she has probably been yelled at and abused at some point in her career but this is the first time she has sued and it just so happens to be against a guy who has a great deal of money. Was Jonathan an ass? Absolutely? Should he be banned? Yep. Should this woman get rich because he yelled at her? Nope.

  1. Didn't he hit her, or was that someone else? Cause you can sue for that if you get hurt.

  2. I don't think $15K is "getting rich" - if he hit her he's lucky the situation isn't worse...I say he deserves a sound drubbing as well.

  3. $15K sounds about right if her insurance didn't pay everything 100%, she had to miss a lot of work and pay for an attorney.

She may have been declined workman's comp and had to sue the individual instead.

  4. "she has been unable to work and has suffered permanent physical and emotional distress."

That bitch needs to fly to Japan and see what REAL physical and emotional distress is.

  5. I agree with the others, $15K is not much and she could have sued for much more money. If he hit her then she's entitled to sue him (especially if she didn't get anything through insurance).

  6. Seriously? She "can't work" anymore? Colour me skeptical.
Also, that is not a flattering picture of Meyers. What happened to his hotness?

  7. Really RocketQueen. He looks like he has been ridden hard and put away wet.

Agree. Seeing him in those boots has forever killed any quiver I might have had for him.

And he was so cute when The Tudors started.

  9. He kind of looks like Dracula in that photo.

Perhaps he was the last straw - she took getting yelled at, etc. for so long and she thought that's it, can't do it anymore.

$15K is a very reasonable amount, so she probably has documented financial reasons like medication, psychologist visits, etc.

  10. 15K isn't a whole lot of money to sue for. It sounds like it will probably only cover lost wages, medical bills and probably lawyer fees. This is hardly a woman who is scamming for a fat check.

  11. He seriously unrecognizable in that picture.

I'd have to hear more about what actually happened to the woman before deciding whether her claim is worthy....permanent physical disress?

I agree with those noting that $15,000 is probably a just amount for lost wages and medical expenses.

What does Japan have to do with this suit and the legal parlance that claimants use in these kinds of actions? Oh that's right, nothing. But yeah, she's a greedy litigious bitch because an alcoholic Uggs fan assaulted her. Got it.

  13. someone should sue him for wearing those boots

  14. LOL. Chill, Bish.

If he actually HIT her, 15K isn't THAT much in terms of a settlement, I suppose, but I kinda doubt that she has PERMANENT physical and emotional distress from a single altercation with a batshit and entitled movie star.

And I brought up Japan because perspective is a beautiful thing sometimes.

  15. How many more stories did we have to read about Jonathan lashing out at an airport drunk off his ass.

Dude needs to cough up the money to fly private if he wants to act like a bitch all the time.

I say good for her, she got treated like an animal by a star and I hope she gets a big check out of it.

  16. It's also possible, if she is off for stress leave, that her insurance provider is actually the one suing him in her name Doesn't that sort of thing happen all the time when people get into car accidents?

  17. Depends on how hard he hit her. It doesn't sound like 15K is going to have her yachting in Bermuda.

Trust me I was out of work more then 2 weeks once while the workmans comp decided if they would pay even though my workplace was clearly at fault for a hazardous condition. I had to front some of the $$$ for a perscription and some other expenses. I was pissed off because I had to submit all these expenses and wait to see if the company would justify the expense of things like a pain script and crutches.

  18. Doesn't say she's only suing for 15k, just that she's suing for MORE THAN that amount. She has filed suit in whichever court allows her to claim for greater than that amount. I'm willing to bet that the amount she tries to claim for is a LOT more than that.

  19. Yes, with Nick, she's suing for more than $15K. Depending on where she's filing, it's a box you check. I'm sure in her paperwork, she has receipts for a lot more. Plus all the pain and suffering.

If some asshole assaulted me for no reason, I'd sue too. But she can't work anymore? Permanent emotional injuries? Please. She's padding the bill.

  20. Funny how people who don't even know the intensity of that woman's injury seem to think that they're in the position to judge if the law suit is justified or not. Believe it or not, but there are people in the world who are not used to getting hit by other people and just because she's a flight attendant it doesn't mean that she's used to this kind of behavior. Maybe she's suffering from anxiety because of it which might make working in that job a living hell for her?

And what I find even funnier is amoteafloat's first comment who called me a sexist for judging Rihanna, also a victim of physical abuse, and thinks she can call the flight attendant a bitch and in the same sentence belittles the abuse by telling that the bitch needs to fly to Japan and see what REAL physical and emotional distress is'.

So, ladies and gentlemen, the next time someone complains about being punched or being physically abused in general just tell them that amoteafloat said that they should stop the whining and that they need to fly to Japan to see what they've been dealing with.

  22. *intense eyeroll*

Thanks for the succinct summary, Mina.

I still think this is largely a frivolous lawsuit that could have been settled months ago if the plaintiff weren't after a bunch of cash, and that this is just another example of courtroom hyperbole.

And if she had been attacked the way Chris Brown had attacked Rihanna, there's no way in hell JRM would have gone unscathed in the press. Rihanna's situation was pretty damned serious. This is merely litigious.

But, again, whatever. Have a nice weekend.

  23. 15K isn't getting rich, but she certainly won't get anymore than that, so she's probably going for the max. If she pursues, she'll probably only get 8K. After taxes she'll have 4.5K. I don't think 4.5K will make the pain go away. She'll still be messed up. Maybe she should sue Jonathan for money for her therapy bills...but she won't. She can't buy nice things and pay off her bills with 4.5K for therapy money.
