Apparently Christopher Meloni has broken off contract talks with the producers of SVU and says he will not be back for next season. Umm, yeah. Do you really think the producers will let Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni walk for next season? Mariska is under contract for next season, but has already said she cannot work a full schedule because of her new baby. So, that is where the Jennifer Love Hewitt rumors came from. I think that would be awful. Anyway, so there is no way Christopher is going to not get exactly what he wants, it is just going to take a bit of work to get it done. I don't think Dick Wolf is out there looking for replacements. I think Dick Wolf is on an island somewhere counting all his money and wondering if he can have a show on 24 hours a day 7 days a week. He is coming pretty close. I guess they could just have Ice-T and his new side kick Coco on the show.
Boo....Meloni is awesome on that show. Ice-T, on the other hand, is simply terrible. He should thank his lucky stars he got that gig.

ReplyDeleteHargitay and Meloni are the core, however it is an ensemble cast.
Do I think he's going to get what he wants? No doubt in my mind.
Would the show benefit from rotating the focus to the other characters?

But will I still watch it, with or without Meloni?

Ice-T and Coco would be better than JLH; she's a ninny, and a lazy actress. Also I find it offensive that Wolf would even consider bringing in yet another Hollywood clone when there are so many wonderful NY actors aching for a chance.
ReplyDeleteI hope that Chris comes back. I agree that him and Marissa are SVU. I don't mind Ice-T and Belzer - they can be pretty funny sometimes, but the core are Chris and Marissa. And yes - bring back BD too!

ReplyDelete@ RQ - I'm not an Ice T fan but I think he's great on this show and totally believable. Also love Belzer and BD Wong.
Gotta say I like Ice T, too. He and Belz are great together. As I floated last night at Dlisted, they could bring back Dean Winters as Brian Cassidy and I would watch. Sucks it is changing, but I will give it a chance for Belz and Ice ... And Dann, too!

ReplyDeleteJLH just did a big guest-spot last fall as a victim. Kinda dumb to consider bringing her back as a cop now. Because of that and because she stinks.
I hope Benson and Stabler can have one more season together.

Wish they could bring back the original L&O and cancel SVU. SVU used to be my fav but they jumped the shark too many times and Mariskas botox doesn't help the acting any.
