NBC Copies Project Runway - Gives Jessica Simpson A Job

NBC has decided it misses Project Runway over on Bravo and the replacement it created there sucks, so what to do, what to do. Why they will create another show, model it on X Factor and The Voice and give up some more network time to reality shows. Why not, those dramas and sitcoms are getting old anyway. Considering that last night I checked off the box I keep on my personal scorecard stating there are now 25 police shows on television right now, maybe this reality thing is not a bad idea. How many different versions of police shows can you have? Oh, and the 25 does not include any police reality shows. What someone needs to do is create a police network and move every episode of Law & Order and CSI and every cable wannabe of that genre and move them over there. 24 hours a day you can sit down and watch a police procedural. Between that, cake shows and The Kardashians I feel that is the extent of my 200 channels of cable.

Anyway, Jessica Simpson is going to be a mentor to aspiring fashion stars on the show which will be hosted by Elle Macpherson. There is no truth to the rumor that Jessica Simpson thought they would be judging the contestants designs with their back to them like The Voice. There is also no truth to the rumor that Pimpa Joe will help select the models used on the show with a one on one counseling session in his trailer. There is no truth to the rumor that Lindsay Lohan wanted to be a mentor because she assumed if there were models there would be free coke for everyone and plenty of clothes to steal. I know Jessica Simpson has a successful fashion line but so do the Olsens and I think they would be better mentors because I think they are way more involved in their fashion lines than Jessica is.

  1. lol, I had this same discussion with my husband the other night- about how every show on tv is either a cop, lawyer, or doctor show.

As for Jessica's new show... well, at least it's not Ashlee.

  2. after Jessy got rejected from X Factor Pappa Joe had to go out and get his little girl a judge job.

And the irony of Jessica judging anything but the size of the KFC bucket she orders is ridonkulous.

  3. *shrugs*

Big surprise. They're already trying to copy Mad Men with that Eddie Cibrian-driven pilot. *snort*

NBC is pathetic. Once they lose their Thursday night lineup, they've got NOTHING.

  4. Without Tim Gunn, they have nothing. Jessica Simpson is no Tim Gunn.

  5. This show is going to be a snoozefest.

  6. I have one question.
    Why?
I can understand the fashion link (she does have a successful fashion line that does make the bucks, whether she's actively involved or not) - but why Jessica?
    IMO, this is stunt casting.
Her only real claim to fame is that she's a tabloid fixture and therefore brings that to the table.
    That's it. Period.
    Fail.

  7. What is a fashion star exactly? A model? A designer? A muse?

  8. I think having the Olsen twins host a fashion reality show is GENIUS. But only because I think they are fascinatingly nuts and I would like to see that.

And I knew the minute I saw this post about Jessica Simpson that the fat jokes would come out of the woodwork. Eye roll. Yes yes, she is larger than a size 6. Can we get over her perfectly normal, healthy figure now? Jesus.

    THIS.

There are a billion reasons to make fun of Jessica Simpson, and those reasons have nothing to do with her weight.

    I'm with you, but
actually, I would say Jess IS a size 6 but most other HW chicks are zeros so there's the difference. Jess is probably TINY IRL.

  11. how exactly is jessica qualified for this? wouldn't it make better sense to have vince camuto and his group of companies? after all, he's the one that licensed her name and designers. she does jack...but this guy, he has an impressive portfolio and is actually talented. she'd be better off taking her mom jeans to a singing show.

  12. What Elizabeth said. Jess is no Tim Gunn.

And fuck the Olsens...couple of fur hags is what they are. I won't have anything to do with them.

  13. This is funny, the woman can't even dress herself....and yes I know she has a billion dollar fashion company, but its just the license of her name...

  14. what Ida said.

enough with slagging off Jessica Simpson...jesus what has the girl ever done to receive such ire?

i think having made over a BILLION dollars in fashion qualifies her for a fashion related show. how many dresses has Heidi designed? she is a model, ffs and we all watched it.

  15. At least Jessica didn't want Gretchen as the season winner of PR. I'll give her that, at least.

  16. not saying the show is gonna be any good (probably will be horrible) but Jessica is the creative designer (and said to have a hand in a majority of the pieces said company puts out) for a company that is about to pass a billion in revenue, so...i say that makes her pretty darn qualified to judge a stupid fashion show & pimpa joe probably didn't have beg for Jessica to get asked to be a judge

  17. This makes me mad.
I can't stand it when an actress becomes a fashion designer.
    Give me a break!

There are people who are really talented as designers, but they don't have the money to produce their designs.

    Simpson a mentor? Gross

  18. She really doesn't bother me - so she's kind of a blond bimbo, so what? At least she isn't an addict or someone who thinks she is important. She works for her money and doesn't leech off some creepy old guy (now her dad, that's a different story). She bothers me so much less than Lindsay Lohan or Kim Kardashian. She tries, even if she fails from time to time, and even if she isn't the brightest bulb in the ceiling.

  19. @Moonmaid -- I completely agree.

I really don't care for Bimbo Jessica. I am surprise about her having another reality show.

What ever happen to the other show she had about beauty?

  21. Jasmine, ftw.

I wish people would live Jessica alone. She actually seems nice which is no small feat in Hollyweird.

  24. If anyone else commenting on this blog has ever worked in fashion they know exactly how much input Jessica has in her clothing line...
There are many "designers" who are no more than front people for their labels....The real designers and merchandisers work behind the scenes.
Jessica is just that the front person for a company that has a design staff, the people who actually do the work. And it is very hard work.
But for this Jessica get a lovely royalty check...very lovely in fact.
One thing you have to say for her daddy is that he really created a brand, lucky for her.

  25. Idiot.

I mean Jessica, of course. Not you Misch. That was a great post.

  26. I think a better show would be to get together the celebrities with FAILED clothing lines and do something with that.

  27. This chick makes big bucks with her fashion line! She is a billionaire! Whether she designs the stuff or not, she is far more successful than JBlow was at it.

  28. Enty, you know I love you but lay off the girls weight.
    If you said:
If she had a thought in her head,
    it would die of loneliness.

I'd be right there with ya.

Saying she's fat is sort of like pot calling a kettle.
(If you are portraying yourself as a Big Man then you can't call that card on her.)
