Tracy Morgan Says He Would Kill Gay Son

Not exactly going to be a big Pride weekend for Tracy Morgan I guess. Unlike The Goopster who wrote a long pro-gay piece in GOOP this week, Tracy Morgan went an entirely different direction at a concert this week at The Ryman in Nashville. He said during the show that if his son ever came home and told him that he was gay he would kill him. He also described how he would kill his son and if his son talked to him in a high pitch voice he would stab him to death.

Tracy went on to say he didn't care if he made people mad with his statement because if a guy can take a d**k up the ass, then they can take a joke. Apparently several people walked out of his show at that point. The Ryman went so far as to release a statement apologizing for what Tracy said. I think Tracy might be protesting a little too much because maybe he has feelings for the same sex and does not know how to deal with those feelings. It was a very a-hole move and I hope he apologizes and takes it out of his act.

Thanks Meg.

  1. He has already apologized, but the damage to his career and reputation is done.

    Oh well.

  2. Thank you, Enty!

This made me SO angry. When I saw people on Twitter, half the people had my reaction but some were saying "Oh give him a break, he's a comedian." What he said goes far beyond a joke.

Way to show your intolerance, Tracy. I am VERY disappointed in you!

  3. Disgusting and not in the least funny.

  4. who gives a shit what Tracy Morgan says anyways? meh

  5. I've never liked him and these comments are very disturbing.

  6. The audience getting up and walking out should have been your first clue Tracy, that it was not the least bit funny.

  7. He can issue an apology if he wants, but he's been guilty of publicly expressing similar sentiments in the past. I think his career is severely endangered right now. Michael Richards, anyone?

I hope to hell that Tina fires his ass -- and I'm saying that as a big, big fan of both 30 Rock and the character of Tracy Jordan. But I'd also imagine that there are a few gay people in the crew of the show -- and maybe within the main cast itself -- and they shouldn't have to work in a hostile environment and put up with his homophobic bullshit.

Ugh. Why do I see a ~trip to rehab~ in his immediate future? It's so insulting how some celebrities think their troubled careers can be somehow be salvaged that way.

  8. Hear, hear Ida! I am also a big fan of 30 rock but this makes it impossible for me to watch the show and not be disgusted when I see him.

  9. Screw Tracy, what he said was not funny when there are people who really think that. That's just letting those people know that they way of thinking is fine by joking about it.

  13. He had a similar thing happen in 1999 at the Carnegie Hall when people walked out when he ranted about gays and it's well known in the business that he is kind of unhinged.

I doubt he'll get fired. They are on hiatus right now.. It's interesting how Alec made a massive career comeback even after the phonecalls to his daughter were leaked. Next year is reportedly the last season of 30 Rock I believe. The show won't last without Alec/Jack.

  14. Sorry about the loss of your kitty, jbdean_79. Losing a pet sucks.

Love 30 Rock, loved Tracy Morgan as Tracy Jordan. After having read about his comments, well, fuck off Tracy. No one needs your stupid ass "jokes." Buh-bye.

  15. Preach, Ida! Odd how this isn't causing the HUGE MEDIA FREAKOUT the way Michael Richards's rant was. It seems more like a small-segment of the population is outraged, instead.

I've seen Michael Richards maybe once or twice (On "Curb") since his racial-outburst in a comedy club. He's not on an extremely popular network show anymore--and really, neither should Tracy Morgan.

Shame on Tracy...and shame on Tina and NBC if they let this crap slide.

  16. well finally this unfunny f-cker is done. his career has been about 20years too long of bad jokes, poor delivery and just plain BORING.

  17. My husband and I saw him about 9 years ago at a college. He was funny for the first 15 minutes and then just went on a 45 minute tangent about anal. It takes a lot to offend me, especially a comedian, but after 45 minutes we walked out..half the audience left before us. I just assumed he cleaned his act up when he got the 30 Rock gig. Guess not.

  18. Dear Tray-Tray,

    Your ass is gay. Period.

    Thank you.

  19. You know, when he was on SNL, I would defend him against anyone who would say that he was unfunny. When he got on 30Rock, I defended him then. When he had his health problems, I actually wrote him a get-well letter. Even when he did this before, I just shrugged it off as him being "hood". Whenever I do stand-up, I would frequently get comparisons to him and I took it as a compliment.

I can't fucking defend him anymore. As someone with a gay parent, this fucking offends me to no end. I thought he'd have more common sense than this, but I guess not. I really looked up to him as a comedian. Now, I want to see him strung up by his short & curlies and hung out to dry. Thanks, Tracy...shit like this is why we get called the N-word. Way to go, champ!

And I hope Tina Fey shoves her foot so far up his ass, he'll be able to taste her pedicure. She better not come out and defend him. I have nothing but love and respect for her and I don't want to lose that over some ignorant ass shit.

  20. Wow. What a wonderful thing to say about your son.
And by the way, Tracy--my son is gay and he is infinitely a better man and human being than you.

    Asshole.

  21. Oh - Megley - LOVE your comment...

  22. Guess that Homocil skit on SNL was all Tracy's idea.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I, too, am a big fan of 30 Rock but Tracy Jordan is a character that can be replaced. And I sure hope he is. If Tina Fey defends him, I will be extremely disappointed...

  24. when you have said shit like this, there's really no apology that's sufficient. it's clearly what he believes.
i get so tired of this crap. i have many gay friends of both sexes and it just infuriates me that this kind of ignorance is so prevalent. it's hurtful to people i love, who are great people living good lives. they don't need this shithead judging them.

  25. Glad we're all on the same page here.

I've never thought he was funny - in fact it's because of him I DON'T watch, 30 Rock...he just bothers me. If he gets fired, maybe I'll start watching cause I LOVE me some Fey and Baldwin!

I agree with the reader who suspects a trip to rehab is on the horizon - typical and not an excuse.

  26. It sounds like he hates gays more than he loves his son. I can't imagine Tina defending this.

  27. Wow--just wow. A horrible, horrible thing to say.

  28. I really enjoyed the "30 Rocks" without Tracy. It just leaves more screen time for Jenna! She's such a funnier character than Tracy. Tracy Morgan is a lowlife lunatic and always has been. Oh look, the words "has been" which hopefully will be describing him soon. I don't understand why this hasn't gotten more press. I live in Tennessee. I get my news from the Memphis affiliates, but I'm still surprised that this is the first I've heard of it. If a white comedian had said he'd kill his daughter if she were to date a black man, he'd have tarred and feathered (and rightfully so) on every news channel. It might have even bumbed some of the Weiner news cycles.

  29. Tracy Kills when he's on Letterman but the guy just has no filter. He says what he wants. I don't think he even writes any material. He just opens his mouth and shit comes out.

  32. On behalf of gays everywhere (or at least me), to the thought that he's secretly gay, let me say: Please, no! We have enough problems without Tracy Morgan being one of us.

I was a fan, kind of, but ... the thing about killing the son isn't funny at all. Wasn't even meant to be funny. Was just stupid. I actually got sad when I read the Facebook "note" this morning:

    http://fierth.com/2011/06/why-i-no-longer-like-tracy-morgan-by-ke/

    Ugly ugly stuff.

  33. It totally is interesting this isnt getting the immediate backlash ala Michael Richards...
    I wonder why that is?

At least I can inform people I know on facebook that this person is anti-gay and maybe they wont see him if he comes to our town now, and in this way I can do a little part in stopping him from making money off hate speech like this.

But you know, I was FAR more sad and pissed when I learned what Michael Richards had done. He just seemed to have wayyyy more talent and smarts than this piece of shit Tracy Morgan, and it was more appalling that he would reduce himself to that level of hate. Tracy, on the other hand, as indicated especially by this awesome pic Enty poste, has always come across as uneducated, immature, and unhinged. Im soooo glad that in this day and age we can call him on his shit and not let him get away with it, without at least an apology.
Sometimes the PC world is awesome.

  34. i am not mad at him! he is a comedian and if you dont like it dont pay to see him...simple as that!

  35. Hey Jasmine,

Apparently there's already a Facebook page dedicated to getting his a** fired. One of my friends posted a link to it earlier. Here it is:

  36. Unfortunately this kind of disgusting comment doesn't get as much coverage as it should because there are so many hateful people out there who think the same thing. My boss said yesterday that his religious father-in-law stated he would rather see his grandchildren institutionalised than go to a loving home with gay parents. WTF!
I hope Tina fires his ass. There is an openly gay male actor on 30 Rock, the new guy who was discovered by Jack as the painted man outside the building. Imagine how he feels.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I think the reason it's not getting more coverage is because homophobia is, unfortunately, still widely accepted in a way that racism no longer is.

  38. @surfer-
I just 'Liked' the facebook page-
    Thanks!

  39. Tina has spoken (from TMZ) - "The violent imagery of Tracy's rant was disturbing to me at a time when homophobic hate crimes continue to be a life-threatening issue for the GLBT Community."

Fey continued, "It also doesn't line up with the Tracy Morgan I know, who is not a hateful man and is generally much too sleepy and self-centered to ever hurt another person.

"I hope for his sake that Tracy's apology will be accepted as sincere by his gay and lesbian co-workers at '30 Rock', without whom Tracy would not have lines to say, clothes to wear, sets to stand on, scene partners to act with, or a printed-out paycheck from accounting to put in his pocket."

NBC is making the usual network rumblings about this not being acceptable but I doubt he'll get fired. Didn't Isaiah get a second chance but then used the F word AGAIN in the Emmy speech and it really couldn't be denied.

  40. Tina got some good little digs in there, didn't she? That's got to be one of the most graceful "fuck YOU, buddy" bit I've read in a looooong time.

They may not fire his sorry ass outright, but I can definitely see his part being written as smaller and smaller by the week, or maybe just not needed for weeks at a time, until he finally either takes a hint and leaves, or pitches such a gigantic fit that he gets canned for being such an ass. That way, it'll be a lot harder for him to pull the whole "they're stepping on my 1st amendment rights/not respecting my background" BS to try to get sympathy (and we all know he would try to milk as much sympathy as possible). The show probably wouldn't survive Tina or Alec leaving, but Tracy? Phfffft...

  43. As far as 30 Rock goes, it's the Jack Donaghy "my cousin Tim fixed games in the NBA" show.

  44. @Barton Fink -
That link made me sad too. :(
I didn't realize how much more he said besides just the comment about what he'd do to his own son if he were gay. And his views of women? Wow.

I REALLY liked Tina Fey's response.
