Blind Items Revealed

January 10, 2011

There is a music studio on NYC owned by one of the biggest labels on the planet. Mostly hip hop artists record there, but there are lots of others too. Apparently it is the studio that is known for the most and biggest pot smokers in the music business. Snoop records there. Method Man. You get the picture. Well, despite the presence of those formidable opponents, the person who smokes the most pot in this studio is this A list singer who was in a big group and has done really well on his own. Hmm, he is also married and has collaborated on a really big hit too.

Rob Thomas

  9. @lml in the Talent Agency business they have a roster and they list them just like ENTY drops them. They have them categorized when they pitch them for gigs.

  10. I would be the worlds most annoying person if I were to be lucky enough to light a fatty with Rob!

I would be the munchie queen and demand he sings songs to me all day long!

  11. I co-sign what lml and kimstyle said. Maybe 15 years ago Rob Thomas was A list, but even then it's a stretch.

  12. Okay, Enty, I love this site- but you really need to explain where you're getting your listings. Rob's very definitely B-list these days. Obviously with Smooth, he could have been A-list back then... but he hasn't done anything to really maintain it.

    I wouldn't imagine any agency saying he's still A-list.

  13. co sign on the A list denial for Rob these days however, I bet his wife blazes up too....she has lupus doesn't she? That shit is painful. I'm sure she's a card carrier. No wonder the guy seems so happy all the time. Good for him.

  14. ITA with the A/B listings. Truth be told, I never heard of this guy. And how is it such a bit of blind gossip that some musician smokes a lot of dope? Who cares?

  15. @flwrgurl: but what agency would say Winslet was a B? At least not after the oscar?

    I'm thinking probably none.

How many nominations does Kate have? It seems she's permanent-nominated. That's pretty A-list to me. And the guy from Matchbox 20 is an A? I'd love to be in a drugstore and not hear Smooth. Remember when you couldn't escape that song?

  17. I can just picture the pitch:

"We've got this B-list actress who we think is going to do great things. She's been around awhile and you may have heard of her, but you will totally want her for your next project. She's got decent acting chops and she can do accents fairly well.

No? Well how 'bout if I told you she will have no problem getting naked?

Yeah? All right, now we're talking! Kate Winslet is going to be big in '20!"

  18. I have to pile on: "Wait, wait. Kate Winslet B-list and Rob Thomas A-list? What fuckery is this?"

  19. @lml at her agency she is A-list movie star and B-list comes from no TV work

  20. @lml you crack me up but yes your on track with the pitching!

ahahahaha @House! Love it. I was just listening to the radio before I started reading the blinds, and heard Rob Thomas' song "Lonely" and realized for the first time ever that it's a really good song! Coincidence?

  22. I love Rob Thomas, so he gets a pass from me.

His wife has lupus you say? Did not not know that and am sorry to hear it. She was the one who got Rob to get his shit together, so to speak. I wish them both the best.

  23. This one has me thinking, I think Rob thomas is definitely B-list. Still I don't mind if he smokes pot.

  24. i'm just happy it isn't a post about cheating on his wife. They seem so happy and lovely together.

    Smoke up Rob!

  25. How is Rob Thomas A list?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Just because he's low-key and a hell of a good man doesn't mean he's not BIG. By the numbers, Rob Thomas is probably one of the most A-List guys in Rock. He has more #1's on Hot AC, his 1st solo album premiered at #1, his second at #3, thanks to the death of Michael Jackson taking the top spots. Top artists love working with him, he makes a ton of money from royalties not only from his solo songs, his matchbox songs and all the stuff he writes for other people. Hell, his version of Original Sin for INXS just went #1 on the friggin' dance charts. His label leaves him alone and he gets the songs to them in his own good time... definitely A-list. As anyone who has seen him in concert will attest, he ain't getting older - he's getting BETTER. He's also the first to admit his only drug of choice theses days is weed. He's even been on the cover of High Times, so this blind is not so blind.
