BuzzFoto Blind Item

During a recent read-through of a script for a movie based on a book, this A list actress was upset she was called to read for the part of the mother not the daughter. She threw a fit to her agent afterwards and cursed at the receptionist in the hallway. The part is for a teenage daughter, and our actress is in her 40′s.

  1. Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, JLo, Halle Berry, Naomi Watts, etc...I have no idea. There's not enough info. I guess if I had to guess, it would be Nicole Kidman.

  2. Ah, just like on 30 Rock.

  4. Could be anyone, but I'll go with Demi.

  5. I honestly can't see any of these women trying to play teenager but maybe it's just because it's so ridiculous.

  6. I saw this on Hot in Cleveland

  7. This is SO Aniston. Has she ever played a character even close to her age?

  8. It's not easy getting older in Hollywood...

  9. If this is true, then I can't believe the actress knew the daughter part was a teenager. She may only have known there was a "mother" and a "daughter," and may never have read for a mother part before, or at least not for a mother old enough to have a teenager. That rules out any 40+ actresses who've already played mothers to teens.

LOL, this may have been a big wake-up call to this actress that she's outlived her "ingenue years."

  10. Totally Jenna Maroney.

Hopefully there's a deathbed scene where she's dying of old age so she can act the shit out of it.

  11. NO popular veteran actress -- no matter HOW vain and deluded she might be -- would attend a casting call for a teenage role. Come on.

This is *such* horseshit, but I would expect nothing less, considering the source.

Enty, for reals -- why don't you post better blinds? You USED to. Your allegiance to buzzfoto is a pretty recent thing. Are they PAYING you? Not only is buzzfoto obviously bogus, but their items are so ambiguous that most of us can't even BEGIN to toss out adequate guesses.

I know I could just scroll along. I do. But I have yet to see a single buzzfoto item proved CORRECT, and the fact that Enty ignores blinds from other (far more believable) sites is sort of weird.

  12. Ia Ida. Julia R is playing Ryan Reynold mother in a movie coming out that was filmed a couple years ago. I doubt she just read for teenager.

  13. Nicole Kidman. Remember Enty's Twilight reveal? Totally something she'd do.

  14. I'm with Ida on this one. I call bullshit! Or at least, the woman had no clue how old the character is supposed to be and was pissed to find out the lead was a teenager which left her reading for the mother. That is the only way I would find it believable.

  15. @Cancan - I TOTALLY thought of that episode too.

What 40 year old would be THAT delusional?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Cecilia00 - can you refresh my memory?

I agree with Ida but I want to go with the Julia Roberts guess because I hate her. I hate Gwyneth Paltrow, too, so I will throw that in.

  17. I also saw this on Hot in Cleveland. Nice try, BuzzFoto.

  18. Don't a list actresses have scripts sent to them, instead of being called in for a reading?

  19. Anonymous10:37 AM

This sounds suspect. Julia, Halle, Nicole, Naomi, Cate--all are popular enough to have scripts sent to them without reading for anyone. And I can't imagine any of them being so delusional as to want to play the role of a teenager. This isn't Diana Ross playing Dorothy in THE WIZ over 30 years ago, with her lover Berry Gordy getting her the role.

Demi is extremely vain but I can't even see this from her. She has grown daughters. No way does she try to play a teenager.

This BI gets the side-eye treatment.

  20. Damn! I wanted to be first with Jenna Maroney.

  21. I kinda have to agree with Ida. Maybe the woman thought the role was for a daughter, and didn't realize the daughter was a teenage role and she got p-off that she was misled. I'm sure she was told about the role before her agent sent her in to audition...plus actors usually get the scripts prior to the audition.

Also, maybe the actress got mad at the casting agent/director for thinking she was old enough to play the mother of a teenager.

Also...do A list actresses even need to autidion anymore

  22. Maybe it's the infamous coke mom - Debra Messing? One has got to be under the influence of SOMETHING to think her 40 year-old ass can pass for even 19-3/4 years old. You can't get a facelift on your oldlady hands.

  23. A-list...nevermind.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hot in Cleveland? Please! This was a subplot of First Wives Club way back in the 90's (Goldie Hawn's character). Do A-listers even go in to read? I thought they were sent scripts and took meetings one-on-one with the directors to discuss roles.

  25. L gave me an idea -- is Kate Hudson A-list?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Reece Witherspoon. When has Nicole, Jennifer Aniston, Halle, or any of the others ever played a teenager as an adult? Why would they expect to now?
    Reece has.

  27. This was also in an episode of 30 Rock.

    ReplyDelete
  28. But, then how many admit to their correct age? If they did there is no way anyone would believe some of their roles. Yet males, can be older then dust and get the teen age girl.

  29. This was from a movie and also done on 30 rock!

    Lame Buzzfoto!!!

  31. Instead of playing the mother, Emma Thompson cast herself as one of the two lead sisters in Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility. She was 37 at the time. The sister was Kate Winslet, who was 19.

  32. I can only imagine what it's like sitting around the BuzzFoto conference room table (i.e. corner diner), drinking coffee and making up shit. Maybe the "winner" gets a second donut?

  33. I agree with the people calling BS. A script read-through is like the first rehearsal for a movie. You would not go to a read-through if you had not already been hired for a particular part. No way an actress would not know what role she was reading for at this point. She would have already signed a contract.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Isn't this a scene from "First Wives Club"?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Ahhh... Monique!

  36. Some scripts are kept super-secret and aren't let out of a room. The actors don't receive copies. The actors are invited to read them in the room if the studio is interested.

  37. I could see this coming as a shock for an actress who doesn't have a child (or who had a first child recently). She would not have marked the passage of time to grasp that a woman who gave birth at ages 23 to 25 would be the parent of a teen at 40.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Nicole Kidman. She's obsessed with trying to look young. Funny thing is that with all the shit she has done to her face ,she's made herself look way older than she is.

    ReplyDelete
  39. She's not anywhere near A list, but it would totally crack me up if this were Jennifer Love Hewitt. haha. Makes me laugh even when I know it's not her.

    ReplyDelete
  40. MoNique played the parent of an older teen on her sitcom, as well as the film she won an Oscar for. To suggest her is simply downright IGNORANT!
Halle has talked about her age often, and about dating a younger man. WHY would anyone think her? Both being Black, even though they both won Oscars, its doubtful that it translated into an abundance of scripts coming their way. Julia Roberts' tired and overrated ass likely still gets more scripts handed to her than Halle and MoNique combined. When it comes to that issue, Hollywood has not changed all that much.
