Do you remember Morgan Wilson? He was a finalist on the first season of Top Chefs Just Desserts and now he faces 10 years in jail for possessing child pornography. He is due in court today in Dallas on three separate charges after undercover investigators found images on his computer which showed children as young as toddlers having sex. I am disgusted right now. He was an a-hole on the show and any child porn case is always disturbing and makes me wonder how people get that way. I just hope this has been confined to his computer and that he has not participated in anything in person. He has been the pastry chef at The Ritz Carlton in Dallas.
I noticed in the article that the HR director for the hotel has the last name of Van Winkle. Considering it is Dallas I am wondering if they are related to Robert Van Winkle aka Vanilla Ice. Then tabloids could have a headline that said, "Vanilla Ice Linked To Child Porn Scandal."

I really hope his kid is safe.
He was arrested for this while the show was airing last December; it took this long for the press to uncover this.

Who are these sickos filming this and how in the hell is there any fanbase for this. How does this turn a person on??? I just don't get it. 10 years and chop of his Pepe with a knife. That will stop him from ever looking at that again...and this guy has a kid???? I'm shocked. I hope he's not allowed to see his child ever again.

(in fact I don't know any liberals who would disagree with me) People who harm or abuse children for ANY reason should get the most extreme sentence allowed. Especially if they admit to it. I don't care if it happened to him as a child or whatever. We live in a much more informed era and it is inconceivable to me that someone would not know it was wrong. Throw the book at him! And several other heavy objects, like anvils and sledge hammers!
Only 10 years? He deserves way more than just 10 years.

I think he had a very young son, so I pray nothing happened to that poor boy physically; this arrest in itself will scar him for life.

He's a sick fuck either way, but producing it would be a much harsher sentence. Wouldn't he be charged with molestation etc.? Just wondering...

ReplyDelete@jamee - from reading articles about this, it sounds like he is accused of possession and trafficking (sending) the pictures, not of producing it. I would love to read the indictment directly, but not while I am at work! A former acquaintance of mine got 5 years for pleading guty to possession -- they didn't find evidence that he had sent photos. When you are guilty of sending photos, the penalties get much harsher (I think they double). Btw, the advice my friend got going into prison was to lie about what he was in for, because the lowest of the low in prison are child porn guys. Morgan is in for a brutal 10 years, followed by shunning for the rest of his life on the outside. I hate that I know all this, but the perverts are sometimes the ones who seem normal.

Wilson was first arrested on Dec. 7, 2010 after undercover investigators say they received several file transfers from Wilson via a peer-to-peer file-sharing service. Those files, received in Sept. 2010, allegedly contained images and videos of children, some as young as toddlers, engaged in sexual acts. Police subsequently searched Wilson’s home, where they say he signed and dated pornographic images he admitted he’d viewed. Wilson’s laptop computer and external hard drives also were confiscated. He was released on $10,000 bail following his December arrest and ordered not to use computers without supervision.
Wilson reportedly works as the executive pastry chef at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Dallas, though his name does not appear on the hotel’s website. He also has a young son, about whom he often spoke during his Top Chef: Just Desserts “confessional” segments.
