Robin Gibb Is In Serious Condition

Earlier this week, Robin Gibb had to go to the emergency room because of his liver cancer. He was there for most of the day and apparently he is having a very rough time. When your family is all with you all the time and have come from all over the world to do so, you know that things are serious. It seems like he went from looking really good to looking really poorly so fast. According to The Daily Mirror, his wife wants him to try a bunch of alternative treatments. I think that is great as long as you are also doing what your doctor suggests. That whole report about Steve Jobs ignoring his doctors and doing what he wanted and probably costing him his life is crazy and probably makes his family angry too.

  1. A week or so ago, the papers said he was suffering from the same illness that took his brother Maurice's life (I believe his brother died of an abdominal aneurysm). Now it's liver cancer.

Whatever it is, I'm sorry he's suffering, and only wish him well. I loved the Bee Gees growing up (saw them in concert many times).

  2. Liver cancer is hideous. I've never been a Bee Gees fan, but I too wish Robin well, and his family. Whatever course of treatments he decides upon, I hope he doesn't suffer much.

This just makes me sad, I love the Bee Gees. At one point Barry was supposed to be my husband. :)

  4. I don't blame anyone for trying alternative treatments, it's their choice how they want to live and die.
Suffering through chemo is no picnic.

  5. Aw, man. I love the Bee Gees, too. I hope he can recover. I don't know a lot about liver cancer.

  6. Liver cancer is the worst, it they catch it early they can graft from a healthy compatible liver because the liver does regenerate..or a complete transplant, but they need to get it before it spreads..

  7. I'm a big Bee Gees fan and love Robin's vibrato. His wife is some sort of a celibate Druid priestess, so her idea of alternative is probably way out there. I wish him well. Barry Gibb must be really hurting right now.

  10. The Bee Gees were the soundtrack to my high school years. Thanks for the memories and I'm glad he has his family around him.

  11. Robin looks so fragile. Cancer is just a horror. I will be on pins and needles til my results come in next Friday. It is my deep wish that at some time in the not too distant future the human race can conquer this terrible disease. I have lost too many family members and friends .. As I am sure everyone here has too. Maybe one day we won't have to worry about or suffer through it.

  13. Good lord - this Steve Jobs speculation bothers me. The man's life was his, and medical decisions his to make.

  14. @ Cheryl: celibate Druid princess? I thought it was well-known that Robin shared his wife with her girlfriend, all living in the same house, for many, many years. Hadn't heard about the celibate part.
