Alessandra Ambrosio Was Two Months Pregnant During Victoria's Secret Show

I already knew supermodels were super skinny. Alessandra Ambrosio has taken it to a whole new level though. Despite already having one child which usually makes you show much earlier the second time around, Alessandra managed to walk the runway for the Victoria's Secret show despite being two months pregnant. She did not tell anyone she was pregnant because she really wanted to walk. Then, about a week before she thought she was going to have to cancel because she had already started to gain some weight and was not going to be able to fit the clothes. So, she went on a diet and worked out like a fanatic so she could walk. I'm not so sure if the last part is such a good idea, but she will probably be the first and only Victoria's Secret model to be two months pregnant and walk the show. She did not look two months pregnant.

  1. When I got pregnant with my first child I weighed a wooping 98lbs, I didn't start showing till I was 4 months. I just don't see what the big deal is.

  2. Of course the safety of her child is not as important as walking the runway.

Ditto big mama: I was in regular jeans until my 24th week!

  4. just like a model to put their career first before the health of the child.

  5. I agree, @BigMama. I wish I could say the same of my pregnancy. (I gained 70 lbs!!)

And maybe it's just me but I feel like this picture shows a hint of a baby bump forming. AA is sooo fit & skinny and her belly here looks a little softer.

She does look great, though. Always one of my favorite Angels.

  6. Sure, lots of women don't show for quite awhile but to not fit into the super-small clothes so she goes on a diet and works out like crazy to lose the baby weight, that's just screwed up and sick.

  7. @Bigmama and blfgirl I don't think it is her size as much as the fact that when she started to show she dieted and worked out a lot.

  8. Oh but yeah - when I read the article I thought it was a little strange she chose to increase workouts and diet instead of bowing out.

I'm hoping her decision came after much careful consideration.

  9. I'm 10 weeks and told everyone Christmas day (still not telling anyone else so keep stchum...:D), I'm convinced I'm huge, my brother said there's noway he thought I was pregnant, and I'm actually 3lbs lighter then I was when I got pregnant. Although in fairness I'm a lot bigger then AA.
I agree with Dixie, I've looked at few reports on this and in a few pics her stomach looks normal rather then hard as a rock like it usually does, so she seems to be showing a teeny bit.

As an aside, anyone noticing Enty (much as I love him) is a bit slower on the uptake these days? Usually CDAN is the first place I hear stories, these days I'm reading them a day or 2 before CDAN on other blogs or on the dreaded DM.

  10. It all depends on how she dieted - before we jump to conclusions it might still have been healthy. At 2 months, I hardly showed either. I can also see a tiny little pooch in her belly.

And her diet was a week, people. I highly doubt she was starving her baby.

  11. Congrats, Jac!

I was wearing my regular gal clothes for quite a while when prego. I didn't bust out maternity gear until the middle of the second trimester. Everybody is different!

Now, vigorously working out?!? That's a whole other story. Hopefully, she consulted with her doctor. You really have to listen to your body when pregnant, IMHO.

  12. Depends on the diet. Sorry but people have run marathons while pregnant. I seriously doubt she was going over the top with it. If she starved herself for weeks on end to maintain her figure than I can see getting upset but until anyone knows what she did exactly, it is silly to get upset.

  13. Thanks guys!
As for exercising the only thing I can manage is power walking after work in the evenings, there is no way I'd be on a treadmill or doing anything too strenuous.
    1) I'm too tired ( I now sleep on my commute in and out to work)
    2) I'm too ill to be moving, bending and stretching too fast.
    3) We've had a few scares in the 10 weeks and I'd be terrified of putting myself under undue stress.

Although once I go through my big first hospital appointment and stop feeling ill I'll be a lot more active!

  14. @Susan & @BigMama - I don't think she did anything wrong, per say, but I really thought the first trimester you had to be more careful.

As I type this though, I'm thinking about it and wondering how many women even actually KNOW they are pregnant at 2 months. That is still relatively early, no?

  15. Depends if you're trying I suppose or if your period is usually very regular. I would say most people know at 8 weeks, that potentially 2 missed periods?

  16. @Jac - true. I'm thinking from the stand point of a woman that has NEVER had regular periods.

  17. Wasn't she the model who fasted the last week before the show? I think she only drank liquids. Hopefully they were protein shakes.

  18. And if you are physically active before the pregnancy, doctors usually advise you keep it up as long as possible.

This picture makes me hate myself.

  20. and Congrats Jac!

  21. Two months pregnant makes her look a bit more normal.

  22. For a first baby, two months is nothing - I didn't show until I was at least 6 months. And like someone else pointed out, people run marathons when pregnant! As long as you were active before (and not high risk), continuing to work out is not frowned upon. I don't know to what extent she worked out though.

For a second baby, 2 months is still pretty early to be showing (especially since she is young and her muscles can bounce back faster). With my second pregnancy, well, let's just say I am 4.5 months and look like I did at 7 months with my first. So. Annoying.

  23. Being physically active is different than losing weight. dangerously different. And clearly she was showing a little if she felt she had to lose. Really disgusted by this.

  24. @ anita_mark: DON'T!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Agree about the 2-months mark. It rarely shows.

@ThisIKnow - I believe you are right: Alessandra had said that she went on a CLEANSE and upped her workouts a week before the show. Not sure a cleanse is a good thing.

I know we have medical people on this blog, anyone knows about cleansings and pregnancy?

  26. I feel you Anita_Mark. Me, as well. : /

  27. Maybe she worked with a nutritionist to make sure she was keeping the child healthy while on her diet.

  28. I don't get what the big deal about her is. I think she looks just like Hilary Swank.

    ReplyDelete
  29. ^Thank you Jason!!! If I'd have said that, I'd sounded petty and jealous. Always wondered what the big deal about her was!

For me, a Victoria's Secret model should be more Brooklyn Decker-esque. If models need to be tall, at least have them with curves.

    ReplyDelete
  30. YES - thats who she looks like! I have been staring at that picture trying to figure it out... Thanks Jason!

  31. Well, enty, pregnant women usually lose weight during the first trimester due to all-day sickness. I lost 12 pounds in the first 2 months bc I couldn't keep anything down. And my doctor told me that was perfectly normal.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I just don't see Hilary Swank here, at all!

Is it the eyes?? They both also have a sort of 'horse' look about them, but that is about it.

And if we are talking horses here, AA is a way hotter horse. IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  33. AA may look like a little like Hillary Swank, but IMO, she seems a 100 times nicer & has a kind aura. Hillary is just plain witchy.

  34. i didn't think it was a big deal until i read it was her 2nd baby. WAY different the second time around. its as if your body instantly remembers how to expand w/ subsequent pregnancies. and yeah, how odd to be so concerned about walking in this show. i don't get how anything could seem more important than the health of your baby. lets see her do it w/ baby #3, lol. even a VS model does not have genes that would allow that.

  35. First of all, Brazilian supermodels are not the same as the rest of us, they snap back into shape much faster.
I think I see a little belly action, that's probably why they put all that sparkly shit on her tummy.
I'm 24 weeks now and I'm still lower than my pre-pregnancy weight but I've got a small watermelon size bump. Babies are pretty good at getting the nutrients they need to grow even if mom doesn't eat as much as she should, due to nausea or a cleanse. Let's just assume and hope that she is using some sort of supplement or pre-natal vitamin while she's losing weight.
