Reason # Infinity To Hate The Kardashians - Make Millions From Child Labor

Many of you might not remember this, but back in the day when Kathie Lee Gifford co-hosted Regis & Kathie Lee she also had a clothing line and advertised it everywhere and she was at the top of her fame game. Then news broke that all her products were made in sweatshops and she was finished. People don't like to see celebrities taking advantage of kids to make their money. It is like one step below profiting off those kids who sell candy bars outside grocery stores.

Star Magazine is reporting that not only are the Kardashian clothing lines made by child labor, but that many of the products they endorse are also made by child labor. I find it ironic that Kim just bragged about how much she cares about charitable things and that is why she went to Haiti. You know, because she cares and s**t. Then two days later you find out she does not care enough to check on her business and how it exploits children so she can make money. She probably was also looking to see if she could gather up some Haitian children to work sewing her clothes for less money than she is paying kids elsewhere in the world.

  1. I'm torn about whether you should always use that picture or none at all for this fame whore in your posts about her.

This is not shocking at all.

  2. I remember the Kathie Lee Gifford thing - it was ALL over the news - let's hope the K Klan gets equal publicity about this.

  3. I very much remember the Kathy Lee Gifford story. It was just one consumer activist bringout the facts her company used child labor sweatshops. Her people did everything they could to slime the guy and make him look like a liar, crying on air act. The whole shebang. But he was squeaky clean and was just reporting the truth. Of course she cried ignorance and "vowed" to stop it after she was cornerd with the truth.

I'm sure we will get the same shtick from the Karwhoredishans.

  4. Not surprised, but I am shocked and embarrassed by the number of idiots that follow her and buy her crap.
She is a shameless bimbo not someone to be admired.

  5. I heard she was a real diva in Haiti. Once again it was just a photo op for her ... Fu*kin bitch, go away!!!!!!!

  6. I pretty agree 100% with Misch.

I always had kind of assumed this story to be true even before the story. Why on earth would these chicks who only care about fame and money worry about things like who is making their products and their working conditions.

Its definitely more shocking that people actually buy it. I wish the media would put a freeze on the kardashians they way they did heidi and spencer. press is press. "there's no such thing as bad press"

She also stayed in a $1000 a night hotel in Haiti, went to a fashion show, and avoided the camps like the plague. What a c**t.

  8. A MasterCard Moment for the Holidays:

One lawsuit for breaking agreement with your credit card company, and not showing up and promoting your product properly
    $77 Million

One lawsuit for beating the crap out of a transgender outside a Hollywood nightclub
    $11 Million

One lawsuit for promoting a sham marriage, and polluting the airwaves of America (Rob Delany)
    $18 Million

One lawsuit for promoting a hair removal product, and falsely manipulating people into buying their product
    $4 Million

Getting finally your "charitable" fat ass kicked out of our airwaves for abusing children, after years of abusing our eyes and ears with your screechy-annoying voice

    PRICELESS!

  9. I truly think the end for them is really really soon.

  10. PLEASE let this be what finally makes people quit watching them on TV and makes them disappear!

  12. The difference here is that KLG is a genuinely talented person, and her fans are human beings. This won't matter at all to the Kardashawhores, just more publicity. And their "fans" sure as hell won't care. Their fame is completely due to Kim getting peed on in a porno.

And totally agree with Ms Cool, Enty shouldn't encourage them by publishing their photos. Any time you need to illustrate a Kardashawhore post, run a picture of a big steamin' pile of dog shit.

  13. Slow applause of the day goes to @Rita.

I remember my mom was so pissed about that Kathie Lee incident when I was a kid. Again, my mom is crazy & she believed it was some conspiracy hype out to ruin KLG. Ha.

  15. Color me shocked. I thought we were done with these people? I vote for a complete blackout on K Klan news.

  16. @Rita - too funny. Love it!

  17. I vote for a ban. They aren't even worth getting outraged about anymore. They're boring.

Honorable mention to parissucksliterally for alliteration effort!

  21. Nice work, Rita, I support a ban on all things KardASSian.

  22. Gap clothes and Nikes are made in sweatshops, and nobody complains about celebrities posing in Gap ads or wearing Nikes. Child labor sucks, no doubt, but I seriously doubt I'm wearing ethical clothing right now. I think the Kardashians are just easy targets. Meh.

  23. The problem with the comparison is the Kathie Lee sweatshop was located in the Bronx (I think). I remember Frank (not Kathie) handing out envelopes of cash to the workers who hadn't been paid in a month.

These Klowns used some random Chinese factory.

Although I don't think God punishes people, I do think the universe is balancing itself, and soon we'll be rid of this Kardashian infestation.

I would hate to see them banned, now that they are on the way down the sewer pipe, I love seeing them on their way down.

  25. I hate every single last one of the Kardashians. They are horrible people who contribute NOTHING OF VALUE, WHATSOEVER, to society. If they all died tomorrow, it would be cause for celebration.

I'm with Cuckoo Armadillo, probably everything we're all wearing and using was made in sweathshop conditions, this won't make a difference.

And like someone else said, do you really think Kardashian fans would care? They'll just call the accusers jealous haters and tell the Kardashians how gorgeous they are.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah, it is really scary how loyal some of their fans are. The hits just keep on coming to them, PR wise.

  29. I think we can all just pack up and go home - Rita wins at life.

  30. Look, I hate the Kardashians as much as the next guy, but Cuckoo said it best: 95 percent of the clothes we wear, toys our kids play with and items we use in our house are made in craptastic sweatshops overseas. We don't know what goes on there, what's regulated, what wages employees make, what the working conditions are. We know nothing about it!!! That's why half of our products don't last more than a year. And then we dumb Americans go out and buy buy buy some more Old Navy t-shirts and Fischer price plastic crap. So, yeah. You want to blame Kim Kardashian, but we should probably be blaming corporate honchos and the asshats in Washington who let our companies do this to consumers, unemployed workers and our economy in general.

    Off soapbox. Merry Christmas.

Side note: I just finished wrapping. Thank you, Jesus.

  31. First of all, everything is designed and produced by a wholesaler. She deals with a licensing company (the guy Bruno who is on the show occasionally) who manages all of the products. Bruno chooses the wholesaler to make the product. She is so far removed from this but unless you're in the business (because she is neither a designer or involved in the fashion business in any way, i dont care what she says) you're not going to know about factory inspections and child labor laws. We are not allowed to promote child labor here and are subject to heavy fines so, yes, it is really bad publicity for her, but someone else is managing her business.

Also, the GAP actually has extremely strict guidelines on child labor laws and inspect the factories periodically, but unless there is someone there monitoring these factories in China there is no way of knowing that they're using kids to make these products.
These factory owners have them living there and hide them when they know the inspectors are coming.

  32. As a fashion designer and dress maker, I admit using textiles made by cildren overseas for several reasons: 1. I'm just starting and can't afford $100 per yard for the fabric used on a wedding dress (15+ yards for the dress I made for my wedding) 2. I started out being a corsetier and coutil can run you 45+ per yard. 3. There are standards by which I make my corsets and corset based dresses. I need consistent fabric and dye lots, and that only comes cheaply from overseas. I know I may sound like a b*tch but 654 for a bolt of coutil versus 896 from an "american" bolt is a huge difference. I know they don't care but I was an ASM for SEARS for 2 years and they are all about the bottom dollar. Most, if not all, of their clothing no matter the brand is made overseas. Michael Jordan and Nike went through the same thing. I doubt if they completely stopped. I'm not defending her, I'm just saying. . .

  33. @Parker-I don't have a problem with people using overseas labor to save money, especially when they're starting a new company. In fact, sometimes I think it's better that overseas teens/young teens can work a little and add to their family's income rather than starving. I think my issue is when people knowingly use products from people working in sweatshops (I'm not saying you do, just speaking generally). There's no excuse for using products made by children forced to work in deplorable conditions, sometimes with no food or water all day. Like everyone else said though, the problem is knowing where to buy ethical clothing and then being able to afford it, which most of us can't.

It's a really crappy situation all around.

  34. Cuckoo is right, odds are 99% of us own clothes made in sweatshops. Exploiting children is the worst, but exploiting adults isn't much better. My friend grew up in Appalachia, and worked in a factory for a couple of weeks, then quit because of how abysmally the workers were treated. No bathroom breaks, long hours with no overtime, and so on...

And like Krystal said, if clothing was made with ethical labor, most of us would be only be buying a couple of outfits a year.

I loved this story on TMZ - Harvey had someone check his label, and was heartily embarrassed that his probably really expensive shirt was made in Hong Kong.

  36. the tide has turned on kk and her clan. she was somewhat untouchable before and after the sham marriage the facade started to crack. the forces have seemed to align - media forces - to take her down. so, down she will go. I imagine there will be a few more bad stories about her after this.

and while we can't get away from buying sweat shop goods, its a whole other thing to get millions of dollars off of basically slave labor. she steals the designs from actual designer goods, and then she makes them in sweat shops. and then she complains about breaking a toe nail.
