Jennifer Lopez Is A Terrorist

If you have watched five seconds of television in the past two months you have seen a Jennifer Lopez Fiat commercial. I don't care if you have a DVR that skips recording every commercial, I feel like I see Jennifer riding in that Fiat down at the bottom of my television screen. Constantly. I find the ads very very annoying so it was with great pleasure and love that I read that some organization is calling out Jennifer Lopez to give back all the money she made for the campaign because one of Fiat's division supplies materials to Iran's nuclear weapons program and by increasing sales of the auto brand, Jennifer is saying that Fiat is great even though they have been responsible for the deaths of soldiers and human rights violations.

"By endorsing Fiat, you are serving as a spokesperson for a company that freely does business with a regime that is developing an illegal nuclear weapons program, financing and sponsoring terrorist groups including al-Qaeda, has killed American and NATO soldiers and is recognized as one of the world's leading human rights violators."

The day Jennifer gives back a dime. Well, I don't even need to continue the thought because she won't give back a dime and she would gladly hold out her hands for more. So, does this mean everyone who buys a Fiat is also a terrorist.

  2. Anyone who drives a car that uses gasoline helps finance the regime in Saudi Arabia, and members of the Saudi royal family directly fund Al Queda.

  3. Oh Loed. Just about every product can be traced to some form of corruption. This is silly.

  4. not to mention that the weaponry used during the first desert storm by the Iraqi was the same weaponry the US kindly sold them during the Iran / Iraq war... remember? that time when Saddam Hussein was the good guy.. :D

  6. Yes, exactly. I'm not a Lopez fan, but this is going a long way just to find fault with her.

  7. Terrorist? No.

I'd call her moderately talented and extremely lucky. Nothing else explains her fame and wealth.

  8. I can't see La Lopez giving back anything. Huge conglomerates have their fingers in many pies. We have no idea what we are really buying with our money.

  9. @Del Riser. I don't think we can blame corporations for all the world's ills. A lot of us know perfectly well what we're doing is harming other people, the planet or both - plastic bags at the supermarket, anyone? Disposible diapers? Cheap, disposible clothes made in sweatshops? Factory farmed food? - and do it anyway. Nobody's hands are clean, at least not in the developed world.

  10. To be fair, we all new she had nuclear junk in her trunk.

  11. @Nutty_Flavor, I agree we all contribute to the world's ills, either by doing or not doing. I was referring to the unseen alliances a seemingly reputable company may have.

The company I worked for was bought by a holding company, a massive conglomerate that owns literally hundreds of businesses. Who knows what some of those are? Or what they fund.

Bottom line is, I do my part to leave a smaller footprint, I don't know that everyone I do business with does the same.

I think we're on the same side here.

Remember that site Deceiver.com that would sometimes be a little ok but most of the time would post reaching articles like this. This reminds me of that site. I think that site died.

  13. This is pushing things a bit far.. 600 degrees of Kevin Bacon?

For the record we rented a Fiat 500 when on vacation in Italy last year and loved it!!!

I think JLo should give the money back because she faked the ads.

  14. Yes, I have a much bigger problem with her faking being back "on the block" in the ads than I do with any of this. Lopez may be a world-class beyotch, but she had no reasonable way of knowing exactly with whom Fiat or any of Fiat's ownership does business. Like others have said, every American, even those who go to great lengths to know where they spend their money, ends up sometimes spending money on business/corporations who have anything from shady to outright evil practices. In this world of businesses owning businesses and then conglomerations owning clusters of business, it is very difficult for the average person to know exactly with whom they are doing business.

  15. Damn. I was hoping today was the day Enty would conclude a J. Lo posting with "Ah F*ck it, J. Lo is MV." Sigh...Maybe tomorrow....

  16. @Lulu G & RJ - Also agree on returning the $$ for the fake ads.

  17. I may be the only one, but I wish se would go away just like the Kardashians. She really has no talent except a butt poke and a pout. . . Sound familiar?? Why are we so accepting of these people. Paris, Kim, Jlo, etc can be flushed for all I care. Can I see some talent. I miss the days of Judy Garland and Ava Gardner. Yes, they slept wit peple but damn they had talent!

    *stepping off box now*

JLo can dance. I don't hate her as much as everyone else does. The only thing that's good about her music (the first few albums) is that her voice is so unremarkable, you can sing along to it without upsetting the cat.

  19. Fuck Jennifer Lopez's responsibility (and I hate her already). Fiat should be targeted. Why are they getting away with this? Who cares about the spokesperson for the evil people? Get the evil people!!!!!

  20. ^^^Fully agreed...

    ...and I HATE Jennifer Lopez.

  21. No because I owned a FIAT 37 years ago. No connection to IRAN at that time or even years after.

What this means is that I need to see less of Jennifer Lopez.

    THAT's what it means.

  22. I think she goes where the money goes. She doesn't give a rats ass what stand for or whom they fund.

  23. THERE ARE DVR'S THAT SKIP THE COMMERCIALS???

    ReplyDelete
  24. Maja, that's what stood out to me about this article the most, too! No commercials??? Awesome!

  25. Still yet another reason to hate her.

  26. This is an extremely complex issue that we all are a part of, and it highlights how interconnected the planet is (especially on a corporate level.) As many other posters here have suggested, we all have some degree of complicity in the world's ills through our purchases (gasoline being an obvious one). I think the important part is to examine our own material habits and find ways to be more responsible with where we choose to put our money. Once you start researching who makes your clothing, your cars, your food, your kitchen appliances, etc., you can make informed decisions about how to use your spending power in ways that fit your own values. If more people were to start doing that because of this campaign against J.Lo, then it will have done some good. Just my opinion. :)

  27. J.Lo's singing career should have the same motto as FIAT - Fix It Again Tony (assuming Tony is the recording engineer).

  28. I have a DVR that skips ahead in 30 and 60 second intervals instantly, so I can tap-tap and be back in a show within three seconds. But a device that skips them? I'm all for that!

  29. The group United Against a Nuclear Iran is the group calling for the boycott. They are essentially a group of career diplomats funded by large corporations, and while the whole idea of avoiding nuclear proliferation is praiseworthy, we need to be aware that there is an ongoing campaign to justify a war against Iran. The Iran invasion has been discussed on and off by the US since 2003, and the military has been gearing up for it for some time. It is possible that the current scandals (the Strait of Hormuz incident and the death penalty against the alleged spy) will be used to justify the invasion within months.

So we ought to look at this campaign in the context of what foreign policy is being requested by Ingersoll Rand, General Electric, Caterpillar, Pricewaterhouse, Ernst and Young, and a host of career diplomats (including the people who were behind the WMD lie). It's a complex issue. Maybe Iran is trying to arm themselves, but ... maybe not.

    Besides, I can't afford a Fiat.

  30. Blah Blah J Lo blah blah... I saw that there is a DVR that exists that skips recording commercials!?!?!? DO TELL where on earth I can get one of those please!?!?!?!? :) Thanks

  31. I'm with you Green Tara!

I'm not vilifying anyone yet, though, because there are too many unknowns, black holes - and I willingly turn a blind eye occasionally and go to McDonald's...but we're moving towards more transparency and responsibility - whether we all like it or not. Soon we'll have the tools to know what our purchases support.

Kinda surprised there's not an app for that yet! Scan a barcode, check for flags on the supply chain!
