Jon Heder Gets To Be Napoleon Dynamite Again

Thankfully the executives at FOX love cartoons. They have managed to save the career of Jon Heder by letting him be Napoleon Dynamite for as long as people keep watching the new animated series based on the movie. Jon was making the press rounds this week and they were really boring because he was himself. When he went to Jimmy Kimmel, he became Napoleon Dynamite.

  1. Kinda feel sorry for the guy. Absolute nobody unless he's this one character.

  3. "Absolute nobody unless he's this one character"

And that differentiates him how from 90% of the rest of Hollywood?

    1. I *think* it's premiering on Sunday night, not sure if it's 8:30, but where I live it's part of Animation Domination so it's the Simpsons, then NP, then Family Guy, then more NP.
Yes, I will watch all of those cartoons. Yes I'm a 30 year old woman :-/

  6. Am I the only one (besides my husband) who didn't like ND? I watched him on Fallon the other night & for me, personally, it was painful. But I guess even NP is still better than "Allen Gregory"!

  7. Napoleon Dynamite is a greeaaat movie, to me it's right up there with Office Space. Same kind of quite everyday humor that derives from life's little odditites.

HOWEVER, I agree with Carrie L. that this clip was painful (except for the awesome tatter tot scene!). I think that his one-note acting is painful to realize and I feel uncomfortable knowing that he is probably grateful for a paycheck but sad/pissed off that this is the only thing he can play ever.

Watching the cartoon will be better than having to see him struggle through this.

  8. @Maja - Agree

Loved the movie so much, but a cartoon? No thanks. I kind of feel bad for the guy too. He's really had no success post ND.

  11. Am I right in my understanding that he turned down a lot of roles due to his religious leanings? Or did I make that up?

  12. No RQ, I think he is a pretty devout Mormon. And I loved Napoleon Dynamite. My husband and I talk like that to each other all the time for fun.
"Hey Ed, what are you doing today?"
    "Whatever I feel like, GOSH!"

  17. I'm actually looking forward to the cartoon. I think it's great that all the original actors came back for it. Also, I didn't get the movie the first time I saw it, but I was talked into watched a second time and thought it was HILARIOUS. It's one of those type of movies, I guess.
