OK! has given in and gone ahead to try to get some quick sales and says that Angelina Jolie is pregnant. Apparently she is almost three months pregnant and is having severe morning sickness. If she is pregnant, I'm guessing that morning sickness might be withdrawal and have nothing to do with the actual pregnancy itself. Eventually OK! is going to hit on one of these stories. They keep rolling out Angelina and Jennifer Aniston in hopes one of them will get pregnant, but it never seems to work out for them. Meanwhile though they will be the magazine people will probably pick up in the checkout line. Did you know OK! is the magazine stars trust? Really? Are they talking about stars as in celebrities or stars as in the things in the sky that twinkle? I do like their Beyonce baby conspiracy story though.

Just this once, wouldn't it be funny if they were RIGHT? If one of these magazines put out a story and the stars (the things in the sky that twinkle) aligned and the story was true? Angelina walks into a grocery store, sees the cover, and thinks OMG, I haven't even told Brad yet!

ReplyDeleteUmmmm . . . did the good folks at OK! magazine not see her at the Golden Globes? She looked like a walking Charms Blow Pop. She was emaciated! Her arms were hard to look at and the camera adds weight. Can you imagine how alarming she must have looked in person?

ReplyDeleteLibel is hard to prove in the United States if you're a public figure. Usually it has to be something demonstrably false and printed with malice -- and generally, a newspaper can quote anyone at all as saying they believe Angelina is pregnant and they've accurately quoted that person, even if it's completely untrue. But above all the public figure has to show the statement (1) is untrue (it's not libel if it's true, no matter how damaging) and (2) that if it's untrue it caused damages, usually provable via financial damages. And it's going to be hard to prove that any report -- true or untrue -- that Angelina is pregnant again or adopting again has somehow caused her damages either financially or to her reputation.

ReplyDeleteActually, I have been thinking she's pregnant though. Her GG dress hid her stomacha area and in a candid photo I saw of her before that (in a grey dress), her belly looked normal (i.e. big/preggo for her).
She is still thin as a rail, but a little bigger than she looked a few months ago.
However, since OK! ran this story, I'm going to say I was wrong.

ReplyDeleteMy issue is with the people who still buy these rags. How many times can they be duped with the same stupid stories? Have they not heard of this new invention called the Internet? I personally haven't opened a magazine in years. Just don't get why these publications still exist.
